Establishing a number of fun awards for members of the Dark Brotherhood who contribute to the DJBWiki. These are not official (i.e. will not appear on member dossiers but will be placed on user pages.
Problem
- "[The] DB being exclusively merit-based and competition-based with regards to how we award medals."
- — Muz Ashen, GM Report (11/22/2009)
The criteria for awarding Dark Side Scrolls for activity on the DJBWiki is touch and go (currently not even in practice). The Dark Brotherhood is an environment where members participate in an activity and are rewarded for said activity and when rewards do not come the user member is reluctant to do that activity again.
Mission
The aim of this proposal is to set out a plan in to establish a number of fun awards which can be awarded by Wiki Staff to users (on their user page) so that:
- Members know that their contributions are noticed and valued.
- Members feel rewarded for their actions.
- (Effect of #2) Members want to continue using the wiki.
- Members can aim to achieve something via wiki use.

The star is intended to represent when a user has received a particular award 10 or more times. Double digit numerals could easily crowd the ribbon and obscure its identifying colors, making it more difficult for users to know which award it represents. As being awarded the same award ten times is rather rare, this isn't expected to be a common problem.
|
Usage
- For only one award, leave the Number field blank.
- Numbers over 9 will display a star, this will allow us to track how many of these a user has if we need to check in the future. (may or may not be working, if it doesn't work write star instead of a number)
When awarding a ribbon, place a notification on the user's talk page explaining why they were awarded it. Group under the heading "==DJBWiki Awards==".

- A page listing the awards and what they are awarded for.
- Wiki staff being informed on when and how to award wiki awards.
- (Alternative to point two)Two or three staff members dedicated to rewarding users.
