| Born on Ryloth, Vanel was sold into slavery and wound up on Nal Hutta at the age of seven. She and her mother were forced to serve at one of the moon's many casinos’s and all she knew growing up was the stink of alcohol and the abuse of patrons too out of it to know any different. Her mother danced and to Vanel, she looked like an angel as she moved around the bar entertaining the guests. | By the time she was eleven she had been sold on again to another casino because she was of no use to the previous one's owner if she wasn't able to entertain his guests. Her new master was a more kind and reassuring man who let her sit in the booths with the cashiers and help count the credits being passed over. She had a sharp wit about her and was able to spot anything dodgy being done and the number of times she was able to spot fake credit sticks and get the patrons removed from the property soon began to earn her the respect of her fellow workers. This allowed her many times to spot things like fake credit sticks and in turn her ability to get crooked patrons removed from the property soon began to earn her the respect of her fellow workers. Armed with a quick tongue as well as her wit, she spent several more years developing her skills. This eventually resulted in her owner placing her on his security team. In time she secured a reputation as a scrapper, being handy with a blaster, and well-known in the casino to the point that no patrons dared to attempted to pull off anything in front of her. |

| By her 18th birthday, her owner had decided she had more than paid back the cost of buying her and decided to let her go. She stayed for a few more years out of loyalty and when she had earned enough she packed up her bags and headed to the nearest spaceport. She took on odd jobs here and there, working on cargo carriers, shuttles, luxury yachts. She even claims she once managed to work aboard an Imperial owned luxury yacht but given the issues surrounding that no one is entirely sure if it’s true or not. Sort of did anyway. | | By her 18th birthday, her owner had decided she had more than paid back the cost of buying her, and consequently decided to let her go free. Rather than seeking her fortune out in the larger galaxy, Vanel stayed for a few more years out of loyalty. In time, when she finally felt she had earned enough credits to risk her own ventures, she packed up her bags and headed off to the nearest spaceport. Out from under the eye of her former owner, it fell to the Twi'lek to fend for herself. |

| She joined the Rebellion nearer the end of it, taking part in several missions against the Imperials. More for fun than actual hatred of the Empire. Sure they persecuted and enslaved millions of aliens but she was free and she figured, in her happy go lucky way, if she could make it anyone could make it. She was promoted to Captain and led small teams of rebel guerrillas striking at supply lines, going behind enemy lines and causing chaos. The sort of things she enjoyed doing. She met a man once she kinda liked but before things could get serious his father walked in and turned out to be the man she slapped way back when on said Imperial Yacht. She decided that was the last time she literally got in bed with the enemy. | | She joined the Rebellion nearer the end of it, taking part in several missions against the Imperials. | The rebellion ended along with the Empire and Vanel grew restless. She had nothing to do, no one to scrap with so, in the end, she wound up joining the internal security forces of the New Republic and doing what she did best. Before she knew it she was a detective and solving crimes like the people she used to watch on the old Holovids. She was respected and admired and soon found herself married to a fleet officer. At his pushing, she joined the New Republic Military as a member of fleet security. She spent a few years training given that though she was good at her job in the civilian world, her discipline and respect for superiors was severely lacking. She wasn’t given any leeway either so time and time again she failed her classes and time and time again her husband had to bail her out until finally she passed. | | The rebellion ended along with the Empire and Vanel grew restless. | She found when on the ship her natural talent at picking things up kicked in again and she often found herself wandering up to the bridge and just watching how things went. One day she found herself sitting on the bridge minding her own business, she claims it was her break when the Captain turned to his Executive Officer and asked her a question. Before she could reply Vanel piped up and gave an answer. The command crew simply stared at her, the XO not wanting to be shown up also gave an answer. The wrong one it seemed as the Captain turned to Vanel and asked her several more quick fire questions with an attitude that almost seemed impressed but more along the lines of “ok Mrs. Smarty Pants answer this.” She did every single one of them. | | She found when on the ship her natural talent at picking things up kicked in again and she often found herself wandering up to the bridge and just watching how things went. | She found herself removed from the ship and returned to the academy where she was given textbooks and holo discs and whatever else could be thrown at her. Unlike her previous time she actually enjoyed it. Learning about navigation, bossing people about and she found she had a talent beyond being a chaos causing trouble maker with a mouth, oh and tripping over her feet. It took only a year before she was discharged from the Academy again, this time surprisingly, with honours. She was assigned as Executive Office to a freighter as her first posting and she was surprised she didn’t hate every single moment of it and it couldn’t be said she didn’t try to hate it because she did. | | She found herself removed from the ship and returned to the academy where she was given textbooks and holo discs and whatever else could be thrown at her. | She worked her way up and soon found herself a 1st Lieutenant. She also found herself divorced due to her husband's jealousy at her new position. For some reason he had only been happy when she was a security member, she shrugged and went about her business. She was assigned to a cruiser under a Captain by the name of Gregorius Videk. She liked the man, she was old like her but older so he made her feel young. Something she reminded him about constantly. He reminded her he was Shaevalian, she simply swatted him away playfully. There was something there but he was married and she respected that as he loved his family with all his heart and he’d often talk to Vanel for hours about them but it didn’t last, not much did. | | She worked her way up and soon found herself a 1st Lieutenant. | The First Order’s destruction of Hosnia Prime rocked them all and for days, the crew fell into despair. The Captain hardly made his way to bridge and it was up to Vanel to get them home or to somewhere safer. She wasn’t sure. Captain Videk kept giving her coordinates and she followed his orders to the letter, and then they came upon Clan Naga Sadow. She and the Captain were led to separate rooms after the ship was boarded. She explained her story, she explained who they were and why they were there and she let them know that death was better than the petty existence they had now. The Clan didn’t care, but one man did. | | The First Order’s destruction of Hosnia Prime rocked them all and for days, the crew fell into despair. | Sanguinius stood up for her and the Captain and asked for them to be assigned to his new ship as a pairing. He claimed they wouldn’t be much use apart and there was something about the man she instantly liked. The Twi’lek at his side may have had something to do with it of course. She reminded Vanel so much of herself she couldn’t help but smile. So she agreed to work for the Clan as long as the Majority of the crew they had with them could remain on board, and those too far gone to serve would be released into the populace. Sanguinius promised as much would happen and they would be looked after by wards of House Marka Ragnos. So she agreed and has yet to look back and thought “if only.” | | Sanguinius stood up for her and the Captain and asked for them to be assigned to his new ship as a pairing. Character History
Born on Ryloth, Vanel was sold into slavery and wound up on Nal Hutta at the age of seven. She and her mother were forced to serve at one of the moon's many casinos. All she knew growing up was the stink of alcohol and the abuse of patrons too out of it to know any different. Her mother danced and to Vanel, she looked like an angel as she moved around the bar entertaining the guests. Vanel had never been very good at dancing when she had tried she had always landed on her face and her mother claimed she had two left feet. She did, however, have a striking pale blue skin tone and two differently coloured eyes, one yellow one green, that made her stand out from the other dancers.
