His moral compass is strong, but so too is his willingness to act. Thanks to the warrior culture of the Gungan people, he has always believed violence to have its place as a central fixture of life, but uses it to liberate rather than to subjugate; thus, while he'll be brutal and cold to enemies, he shows a rare camaraderie with allies and civilians, and will go so far as to be a jovial friend to those on his side. Kah Manet, also known as the Scourge of Lianorm, is an Otolla Gungan and Jedi of House Odan-Urr. A member of the Knights of Allusis, he grew up on Naboo during its years as an Imperial world, living as a freedom fighter for his people for most of his life. After the Galactic Civil War's end and the liberation of his world, his path found him learning the ways of the Jedi on New Tython, and to this day he fights the forces of darkness alongside the Odanites.

History

No one is sure what Kah Manet's childhood was like, but his people's stories of him claim it to be ordinary. He was a warrior among his people, born and raised to be one by his father and taught the Paonga family style that was passed down through father to son. He grew up on Naboo, spending the majority of his time near Lianorm Swamp.

What is known about Kah Manet starts in the year 14 ABY, when slavers and remnants of the Imperial Army came down to the surface of Naboo and began enslaving the Gungan population. Kah, along with his family, created a guerilla freedom fighter group but not doing much beyond being a nuisance. It wasn't until twelve years later, and the death of Kah's family, did the freedom fighters get the galvanizing martyrs they needed. With the Manet's dead, others flocked to their cause to avenge the noble warrior family.

Kah spent most of his time from then on harassing supply lines and performing night raids on slaver camps and settlements, only to escape into the swamps. Whatever captives they found, he and his men would free and then kill the slavers. When word got out of the rising death toll, the Imperial Remnant placed a bounty on "The Scourge of Lianorm", a title Kah found amusing.

Swamp Fox

Not wishing to place anyone in danger, Kah and his men would hide in the swamps and utilize the natural cover they provided to perform more ambushes, only coming in contact with others when supplies were completely used up. The needs of his people, that of freedom and retribution, had become Kah's purpose and he utilized the raids on slaver's and Imperial patrols to acquire anything they could use to help themselves. As more joined his resistance, they became well armed due to the scavenging done by the Gungan. As the years wore on, Kah became cold and cynical and developed a slight bloodthirst. When Imperial scouts found the remains of a patrol, it was reported to be far from a dry affair.

In 26 ABY, the Imperial Remnant hired a mercenary named Fett to hunt down and kill the Scourge of Lianorm. Through sources on Naboo and in Imperial networks, Kah was able to discover the location of Fett and set up an ambush. He caught the mercenary in a crossfire, who then called for reinforcements. Reports of what happened next are hazy, but Kah and his troops managed to rout the enemy and take Fett captive. One week later, Fett was reported dead by Imperial agents who found his corpse near a lake. The body was reported to have had it's legs cut off at the knee.

Physical Appearance

Kah is tall for an Otolla, with long limbs and a strong body. His skin is a deep purple, while his black eyes often terrify opponents. While some Gungans draw ridicule for their appearance, Kah's visage is terrifying, marred with scars and adorned with ridges and spines more prominent than in most of his kind. He dresses in a more tribal interpretation of Jedi garb, wearing dark brown leggings and kilt but having bare feet, hands, and chest whenever possible. The skull of a wild beast adorns his right shoulder, while tribal beads loop around his neck.

Weapons and Equipment

Sarak Shai's Lightsaber

Originally built by the Yuuzhan Vong Sith, Sarak Shai, this weapon was crafted by the extragalactic alien out of the tail spike of a fallen beast. Built to house mechanical parts in an organic shell, a metaphor for what Shai himself had become within Plagueis, the weapon was a proverbial manifestation for everything considered sin under Vong teachings and was used by the heretic to bring down the wrath of the Vong Gods on his foes. It was wielded by Shai until his death, at the hands of Tur'el Sokar.

Tur'el, an acolyte of Sith teachings as well at the time, fought Shai to the death before the leadership of Plagueis in order to be accepted into their House. Upon killing the Vong with it after his own blade was destroyed, Sokar took the weapon as a symbol of odds overcome, and used it throughout his adventures with the Ascendant House. Even as his conviction in darkness fell, and his search for balance turned him toward serving the Light, Tur'el kept the finely-crafted instrument rather than building any other weapon. In time, he would bring it with him to Odan-Urr, and would use it in the Dark Crusade.

Midway through the Crusade, Tur'el would volunteer to assist the Quaestor of Odan-Urr with a covert mission; having lived amongst Sith, civilians, and Jedi alike, he was ideal to sneak onto the captured New Tython, assimilate into the masses, and dispense covert aid to the resistance. Before his departure on the mission, Tur'el, one of Kah Manet's first friends amongst the Jedi, would entrust Shai's old weapon to Kah for safekeeping. Its shape and design was well-suited for the Gungan, who had used crafted bone weaponry all his life and was used to an organic feel, while it would symbolize the adoption of esoteric cultures and outsider views by the Jedi of Odan-Urr. This would make Kah, like Tur'el before him, one of the rare few Jedi to utilize a red lightsaber in combat.

Femur Knives

A freedom fighter for years before he ever became a Jedi, Kah earned the name of Scourge of Lianorm by ambushing and slaughtering stormtroopers in the swamps near Paonga Lake. Eventually, both for the honor of his peoples' ways and to frighten his opponents, he began to take trophies from their bodies and leave the mangled remains to demoralize them further. Among these trophies were the femurs of two different stormtroopers, each killed during a particularly hectic ambush. Having been taught by his father the arts of weapon crafting, he used these to craft a pair of daggers, long and slightly curved, yet balanced ideally for throwing as well.

Each of these weapons is bound with tough, well-used leather, and bears small notches, markings, and symbols commemorating different events and lessons for the Gungan. A groove runs down the middle of each blade to help them draw free of a body, and to prevent blood from soaking the hands of their wielder. Though both blades are very old, they are still quite strong and well-maintained, and are a terror to Kah's foes to this day. Their only drawbacks are that, unlike vibroweapons or lightsabers, the bone of the weapons encounters additional difficulty in piercing some medium and heavy armors.

Skills and Capabilities

Kah is both tall and strong, the pinnacle of Gungan battle prowess. These allow him to incorporate deadly strikes and kicks right alongside the Gungan grappling art of Paonga to overwhelm enemies physically, as well as using knives and polearms in combat with a proficiency born of a lifetime of practice. While it is a newer weapon to him, the lightsaber has become an extension of his arm as well, while the use of a lanky frame, uncanny jumping abilities, and his species' renowned tongue to grab and throw objects make him an unpredictable and dangerous foe. Many underestimate the Gungans; Kah uses this to his advantage.

Personality

Kah Manet has been under or against oppressors for his entire life. Growing up under the thumb of humanocentric Imperials and having fought the Empire and other tyrants for years, he's developed a unique outlook on life, a dynamic that includes both ruthlessness and justice. Kah is a warrior to the core, and so, does not associate battle with negativity; it's simply his way.
