As House Acclivis Draco’s training facility, Timbal Training Facility (commonly called “The Burn”), named in honor of former Quaestor and Consul Timbal Palpatine, it is one of the greatest works of art that stand out in the Northern Oasis Campus. It serves as a hangout for House members as well as a way to burn off those extra calories gained at Michael’s Dining Union. Although only frequented by Obelisk in the past, since the rise and encouragement of secularity, the training facility has seen an increase in the number of Krath and Sith visitors. It is part of the Northern Oasis Campus which also includes the Dragons Citadel.

Structure

The first floor is separated into three main sections: the dueling rooms, the exercise room, and the classrooms. The second floor lies directly above the dueling areas as balcony seating.

Dueling Areas

When you enter through the southern double doors into the dueling section, you are immediately faced with a lobby and a small area where you may reserve dueling areas for specific dates and times. The lobby gives an impression of simplicity, ruggedness, through a floor constructed of duracrete tiles, and durasteel rebar, weathered and worn from the soles of combat boots. On the westerly third of the building, the facility houses eight rectangular dueling areas, each separated from each other with thick walls of stone.

Each dueling room contains an elevated platform and a small seating area that can hold up to ten people. Additionally, another ten people may go upstairs to watch the duel from the second floor’s balcony. Each of the room’s platforms wear scars from lightsaber tips and holes from awry blaster bolts. The platform is made from duracrete.

Timbal, the building’s namesake, can usually be found at the training facility when he is not drinking at Cooch’s Cantina, on a mission, or harassing the House Summit at the Dragon’s Citadel.

Exercise Room

An exercise room with a ceiling that extends up to the training facility’s two-story roof makes up more than half of the middle third of the building. Fifteen punching bags (ranging in size and weight), weight racks (durasteel and plasteel weights ranging from three to five hundred kilograms), and thick mats for practicing acrobatics lie around. In one corner, a large trampoline, with a bar suspended thirty feet above, is featured where Dark Jedi may practice chin-ups and pull-ups.

Second floor

The exercise room is traditionally used for individual conditioning and fitness, but once a month, new members may take a tour of the facility and learn more about the equipment. (New members always seem to come out with several bruises for some unknown reason, though.)

One of the exercise room’s walls is covered with mirrors where Dark Jedi may practice different techniques – ranging from martial arts to staring contests – while watching themselves to make sure they are doing it correctly. If the wall is damaged in anyway, the felon is immediately beaten to the ground by the others in the room and taken directly to the Quaestor, who will impose severe punishments while the wall is repaired by droids. The mirror wall has only been broken once… by a drunken Quaestor RevengeX Palpatine.

Classrooms

On the eastern third of the building, four classrooms are available. These classrooms are commonly used as areas for lectures and seminars, but they have also been used to teach rudimentary Force powers – like telekinesis – to Journeymen. The walls of these classrooms are painted light beige, an extreme contrast to the rugged stone of the dueling area.

Each classroom is equipped with ten individual student desks and two plasteel white boards. Private use of these classrooms is discouraged, but for Equites who have multiple Apprentices, exceptions can be made with a simple wave of a hand – or other appendage.
