The Counter Intelligence and Domestic Security Division (SEC) is Taldryan's primary domestic intelligence service. While the other Divisions are nominally about guarding from external threats, Counter Intel and Domestic Security is the shield that protects Taldryan from internal threats. Ranging from foreign agents operating on Taldryan soil, to terrorist threats and beyond, while operating in three Branches: Foreign Security, Domestic Security, and the sinister Special Branch. The Counter Intelligence and Domestic Security Division is commanded by Raeth Elson.
Mission

The SEC Division is tasked with the security of Taldryan from both internal and external forces. Utilizing local law enforcement as well as Taldryan military forces as proxies they ensure that forces looking to destabilize Taldryan are turned away before they become public knowledge. They are also tasked with ensuring the loyalty of the Taldryan military forces and its officers. There are three branches within this Division: Foreign Counter-Terrorism; Domestic Counter-Terrorism and Defense Security.
Each Branch is made up of a mixture of Analysis and Operational Agents. The analysts work closely with the specialists from the SID to ferret-out information that would benefit their current focus. Operational Agents work off of the Analysis intelligence and work in tandem with local agencies to complete their specific operations.
Command Structure
Counter Intelligence and Domestic Security is commanded by Director Raeth Elson. Raeth, a veteran commander of the Karufr defense force, and the Taldryan Army, is the perfect person to ensure the internal security of Taldryan. He will do anything for his home, regardless of consequence. He has butted heads with superiors constantly, especially with Nils Anan, but he always has the best interest of Taldryan in mind and his results are proven. He inspires fierce personal loyalty in those who serve under him, and demands an unshakeable loyalty to the Directorate for those he commands.
Each of the attached Branches of Counter Intelligence is commanded by their own Branch Leader, who reports directly to Elson.

Foreign Security Branch
This Branch of the SEC focuses on any threats from outside of Taldryan, which generally involves one of the other Dark Brotherhood Clans or Houses. Many of its Agents are placed around the diplomatic offices on Karufr as well as integrated into the general screening process of visitors. In most cases foreign infiltrators, spies or would-be terrorists are apprehended in Taldryan space by military personnel directed by the SEC. Although rare, there have been occasions that a plot could be foiled prior to it reaching Taldryan space. In those cases SEC Agents have been deployed, working either in conjunction with Taldryan Special Forces or with SIS Agents already in the specific region of space.
Domestic Security Branch
This Branch of the SEC is the flipside of the Foreign CT Branch, dealing with threats that may occur within Taldryan. These threats would occur either through members of the organization, or as is more common, through acts by citizens in Taldryan space. Much of the attention of the Domestic CT Branch is in ensuring any rebellions or internal dissension is quickly quelled with little-to-no public outcry. Although Taldryan is not overbearing in its control, there are still those who want only to provoke and cause chaos. Much of this work is done either through aggressive public relations; going through proxies within local law enforcement or a combination of both.
Special Branch
Mentioned only in hushed whispers, Defense Security safeguards Taldryan from those who have been sworn to protect it. Unofficially called "Watchers" by many, Defense Security closely monitors the entire Taldryan military for dissenters and infiltrators. There are a number of Defense Security Agents active within the Taldryan Military, with all vessels and army Battalions having at least one Agent installed. Due to the heightened sensitivity and disruption that would occur, operations are direct and quick with most never knowing what had occurred.
