The Stormbreaker was a lightsaber crafted by Nikora Rhan in 43 ABY following the destruction of her prior double-bladed lightsaber in battle. Although Rhan initially planned to simply remake her previous design, too many encounters with the Children of Mortis and her own improved skills pushed her to discard her prior design in favour of a new one. Breaking with many prior traditions which had shaped the design of her previous weapon, Rhan opted to construct a lightsaber better designed to help combat the foes that Clan Odan-Urr had repeatedly encountered in the last decade.
Rhan's construction was ultimately designed to serve as a multi-purpose weapon, to be as effective against armoured foes resistant to lightsaber blades as it would duels against lightsaber wielding individuals, hordes of infantry, and ranged combatants. Although tall enough to be utilised as a staff and impossible to conceal, Rhan has proven the design's effectiveness against almost any foe.
Design
Designed to copy the basic structure of a Lightsaber Pike, the basic hilt of the Stormherald is a two metre long pole of black obsidian. Marked by rings of brass and studded with fine gold, a carved grip is integrated into the construction, broad enough to be easily held along most of the pole. Although bereft of carved iconography or etching which might be expected of such an ornate weapon, the area above and below its grip has been bound by white rope affixed with several teardrop bronze phials, each containing water taken from the worlds of the Kiast System. These phials offer no practical benefit, but have been selected as part of a ritual, marking the worlds which Clan Odan-Urr has sworn to defend.
Each end of the pole ends in a blade. The base features a a broad barbed blade of pale metal, pointed and shaped like a leaf. Able to act as a stabbing and slashing spearhead as needed, the design is perfect for quick stabbing attacks. At the pole's head is both a curved khopesh style blade, designed for powerful slashes and hacking motions. A bronze coloured metal adorned with marked tiles in icterine and teal, the blade curves forward and out, just ahead of the lightsaber emitter built into the top of the pole. When the lightsaber blade is active, the two do not touch but weave together, forming a broad structure akin to an enlarged poleaxe head.
The Stormherald's blade is a blue typical of most Jedi, with a dual-phase blade modification. This allows it to rapidly extend from a single metre long blade to two metres in length, dramatically extending its overall reach. The crystal powering the blade is a fragment of the Kaiburr crystal, granted to Rhan by John Blackwood after he had taken it in battle against a Dark Jedi. While lacking some of the distinct offensive capabilities of most crystals, it instead enhances the wielder's potential within the Force, amplifying the potency of certain powers and renewing the strength of its wielder with its energies.
As the entire weapon has been forged from metals empowered by Sith alchemy, the Stormbringer's entirety is incredibly durable, and all but completely immune to damage from lightsabers.
