"I would rather die fighting for what is right, than live passively amidst all that is wrong."

A staunch defender of the Jedi Order, Marl Gondor is a combination of diplomat, being raised on Chandrila, and warrior, as he's always had a knack for combat and strategy. Currently serving Clan Odan-Urr as the Quaestor of the Guardian Corps, he is driven and ambitious as he governs from the newly constructed temple on Daleem. Working closely with the Vatali Empire and its constituents to maintain peace and order, he is vigilant, with an army at his back, standing ready to face down anyone or anything that may threaten or strain this delicate alliance.

Entry 1: Rising Son

Hanna City, birthplace of House Gondor

In 4 ABY, Marl Gondor was born in a rather hawty estate on the banks of the Silver Sea, just on the outskirts of Hanna City. Chandrila during that time was alive and filled with new hope as that same year marked the destruction of the Emperor and the collapse of his tyrannical Empire. The political landscape of Chandrila had shifted as each House was eager to help fill the void left by the power vacuum that was created. One of the first to step forward with a petition was Larian Gondor, Marl’s father. A respected diplomat and politician that captured Mon Mothma’s attention.

For centuries, the wealthy House Gondor was part of Chandrila’s ruling body and while not as widely known off-world, on Chandrila, they were admired and highly respected. It was because of this, when the time came to recognize Chandrila as the Capital of the Republic, Larian was eager to help fund this endeavor through charitable donations with no strings attached, on the surface. Of course, when it came to handing out job assignments, Larian and House Gondor held sway and leveraged the government into publicly recognizing their family as firm supporters of the New Republic. This display of loyalty made it easy for Larian to win a seat on the advisory council. It was a golden age made even more memorable by the birth of Larian's first-born son, a promising new addition that he viewed as an heir to the Gondor estate.

Entry 2: Bulwark

Being raised in the New Republic's inner-circle, Marl frequently spent time in the Senate Plaza and was tasked with learning how subtle shifts in phrase and body language could deliver new meaning, convey emotion, or express urgency. The delicate dance of wordplay, mixed with bold claims and outside of the box thinking in regards to problem solving. Most of his afternoons were spent there. On the surface he would have made a fine diplomat, but in the end, it didn't appeal to him, not as much as the military drills he would later become enthralled by at the New Academy.

He always had a desire to serve and while not formally trained in combat at that time, he was still quick to defend those who could not defend themselves. Many of his friends were considered pompous aristocrats as they were from wealthy stock and while they didn't carry an heir of entitlement, they still fell victim to bullying by the lower class juveniles. Countless times Marl was involved in scuffles and fights, most times the odds were not in his favor, yet he was still able to, more often than not, come out victorious even when the deck was stacked against him. His peers began to call him the Shield of Andrasha. It was the name of a local flower and while beautiful, it was resilient and strong. There may have been a bit of mockery involved with the name, but it was a name that would stick, even later into his life.

Entry 3: Mon Mothma's Champion

Rumors had began to circulate across Chandrila of a tournament that was funded and organized by Mon Mothma herself. It was said that participants would compete in a series of trials. Tests that would push you not just physically, but mentally. Marl was intrigued by the idea but was of the mind to say that he'd believe it when he saw it. Fortunately, he wouldn't be a non-believer for long as he received a certified transmission thanking him for his interest and providing him with an entry number. Seeing as how he thought it to be only rumors, Marl was confused when his number came up. Later, his friend Ron Noval admitted to being behind the application process but he knew of Marl's metel and was confidant that he could make a name for himself.

Entry 4: The Academy

Even though Marl's father was displeased and alarmed by the number of fights his son had been getting into. Larian was proud, realizing that within his child burned a fire and passion to do the right thing, never jeopardizing his morals even in the face of insurmountable odds.

He had the spirit of a warrior and while it frightened Larian, he could no longer hold Marl back. Upon graduation, Marl was finally allowed to join the New Academy which were the roots of the New Republic Defense Fleet.

Marl served for two years before being pulled to a Security detail that often patrolled the Old-Gather House. While it was a prestigious position because the Senate Plaza was located nearby, Marl had already spent enough time inside those chambers, watching his father perfect his craft. It was safe to say that he was a bit disappointed by the idea. Nevertheless, he would pour his heart and soul into performing his duties.

At this point in his life, he was still unaware of any laden Force potential. In fact, he didn’t even know what the Force was. Jedi were all but extinct throughout the Galaxy. In many places they were but a myth. Sure, he would hear people on Chandrila talking of the old ways. What it was like before the Empire. But he typically ignored such conversations. They were nothing but old tales to engrain hope in those who were enduring Imperial rule.

His feelings on the matter, however, would not change the facts. He was indeed Force Sensitive, and it reached out to him through faint whispers as delicate as a gentle breeze. At first, to steal his attention, the Force would peak his curiosities. After a long night of patrol, Marl felt a tugging on his mind. Lured, in essence, to the Hanna Institute of Antiquities. He took time to admire the various baubles, trinkets, and pieces of history lining the halls. He absorbed as much knowledge as he could while there but was immensely drawn to a hidden passage that seemingly led to a dead-end. An eye popped through the stone wall, affixed to a stalk. It belonged to a TT-8L Gatekeeper droid, programmed to keep people at bay. Using security clearance, Marl was able to gain access to the hidden chamber.

Once inside, Marl was met by large statues of what looked to be monks wearing robes and wielding a type of energy sword he had never seen before. Dimly lit displays lined the perimeter of the room and at the center, floating in the center of a grav-pod were three golden boxes with elaborate and ornate details etched into them. He observed everything in that room and was beside himself when he found out that these mythical legends were the real deal. Sneaking out, weeks would pass, his thoughts lingered on what he had found. A chamber filled with secrets. On one of the datapads that he found, he learned that the citizens of Chandrila took these relics and hid them out of the emperor's reach. He was obsessed over it and had to go back.

Entry 5: Trouble On Barbican Road

One night, when on patrol. Marl was positioned directly across the street from the Hanna Institute of Antiquities. A suspicious group lurking outside was enough to steal his attention. He would follow them as they sliced the terminal outfront and slipped inside. They made their way to the hidden room in the back and destroyed the droid guarding the gate controls. Watching the heist unfold, Marl would call for backup that failed to arrive in time as a ship touched down in the street as claxons rang throughout Barbican road. Feeling an urgent need to get involved, Marl stowed away inside the ship and waited until the crew, under heavy blaster fire made their way up the loading ramp, goods in tow.

Having no idea how long he had been hiding on the ship before growing anxious, Marl slipped out of hiding and searched the ship. The pirates, as he later learned that they were, made it easy for him to sneak through the empty corridors as they were in their dorms celebrating their accomplished mission. Finally, Gondor found what he was looking for as he only managed to hurriedly grab one of the floating boxes and a doonium cylinder from the smuggling compartment he uncovered.

His own celebration would be short lived however, as he was seen right after stashing the goods on his person. Outnumbered, there wasn't much that he could do as the pirates beat him down and drug him to the bridge to meet with the captain. Recognizing Marl as a cadet of the New Republic Academy, the captain, a Duros named Hassa deliberated for what would seem to be an eternity. Feeling it unwise to outright kill Marl, The Duros decided to throw the stowaway rat on a derelict vessel adrift in space. Foolishly, the pirates neglected to search him before throwing him away like a piece of debris. But they feared getting caught more than they feared a green soldier that was outnumbered and about to be jettisoned to a ghostship.

Physical Description

Appearance

Marl Gondor is quite handsome and clean-cut. Of a thicker but toned build, his clean shaven face, while it may appear a bit wide, remains proportionate with the rest of his physique. Locks of long blonde hair are pulled back into a ponytail and his bushy brows rest above the gray tinted pools that are his irises. His pale skin is smooth save for the crow's feet and slight wrinkling around his eyes. His hands are calloused and scarred from the unavoidable risks associated with his preferred craft but the rest of his appearance is that of your average human.
