Imperial Senate

The Imperial Senate is an advisory body to the Emperor. It resides at the Imperial Senate Chamber in the Imperial Palace, which is located on the throne world of the Empire, Judecca. Members of the Imperial Senate meet regularly to discuss various matters, which have crucial meaning for functioning of the Empire. It serves as a tool to make people think that they have influence on how the Empire is ruled, but in fact, it is another façade to hide the true nature of Empire’s rulers.

The Imperial Senate has no power to make any real decisions. It may provide opinions on certain matters or its own ideas for bills, but they still need to be reviewed and approved by the Emperor himself. Also, members of the Imperial Senate are Dark Jedi, members of House Scholae Palatinae, only. Each planet in the Imperial Dominion has so called Senator, but they are only liaisons between the high level administration and the average citizens of the Empire.

Behind the scenes

Imperial Senate is a place, which has been designed to allow members of House Scholae Palatinae to discuss various matters and to improve their debate abilities. Every member of the Imperial House is allowed to free participate in the debates, no matter if they are just practice or a competition. The Summit of the Imperial House will regularly host events, which will allow participants to test their abilities or to discuss matters, which have crucial meaning for the House.

There are three types of debates, which members of the Imperial House may take part in:

  • Practice Debates – held to allow the participants develop their debate abilities. Everyone is allowed to start them, as long as they have a partner to discuss with. Though there are no awards provided for participation in such debates directly, it is considered as additional activity, which is very much appreciated and encouraged. Practice debates include three posts per one participant.
  • Competition Debates – these debates are hosted in a form of competitions and have one purpose, which is to determine, who is the best debater in the Imperial House. They may be held only by a manager of a given competition. Standard competition awards are provided for the winners and each participant receives a Cluster of Ice for every debate, which he or she takes part in. It is highly probable that the best debaters will be chosen for participation in DJB-wide debate competitions with the top priority, if there are any restrictions for number of members in a team;
  • House Improvement Debates – these debates are very specific ones. Their only goal is to learn opinions of House members on various matters. They shall be held strictly by the members of the House Summit. In an average situation, members of the House will be informed about the details of a discussed matter. While the result of the debate is not binding, every opinion shall be taken under the consideration.

There shall be a sub-forum created, which shall be devoted solely for the debates. Each debate need to follow this pattern of naming: [TYPE][TOPIC]. In case of the Practice Debates and the Competition Debates, there must be a deadline and a number of participants specified, as well as their division into teams. The host of a debate shall provide necessary information about the topic being discussed. Usually, it is enough to give the topic itself, but in some cases, additional information may be required, especially in case of House Improvement Debates.

Standard length for all debaters (groups of debaters) in all types of debates is minimum of 250 words and maximum of 2500 words
