Call of Freedom squadron, nicknamed the Warpigs, was a bomber squadron flying the BTL-A4 Y-Wing under the command of Captain Aren Finn. They were a part of the Tythonian Space Militia stationed on the Nebula-class Star Destroyer Fey’lya’s Last Stand.
Formation
The Warpigs in combat
Formed in 36 ABY under the command of Kris Vander the Warpigs were assigned to the NSD Fey’lya’s Last Stand as its bomber squadron. Over the years the squadron has seen a greater pilot turnover than any other squadron in the K.U.D.F as their antiquated Y-Wings took vast amounts of punishment, resulting in a large number of pilot deaths. The squadron is comprised of 12 pilots, their respective astromech droids and a complement of six Mon Calamari support personnel and are currently led by Captain Aren Finn.
Equipment
The BTL-A4 Y-Wing
The Warpigs fly BTL-A4 Y-Wings with each shipped crewed by a single pilot and an astromech droid. Each 16 meter long ship is armed with two Taim & Bak IX4 or KX5 laser cannons along with two Arakyd Industries Flex Tube proton torpedo launchers each with a magazine of four torpedoes. The Y-wing can also carry 20 proton bombs. The wedge-shaped cockpit and Guidenhauser ejection system was placed on the front of the craft, with the central spar containing the Novaldex power generator extending behind it. Thiodyne 03-R cryogenic power cells and ionization reactor supplemented the Novaldex generator. Two 2 Koensayr R200 ion jet engines, rated at 250 KTU and capable of 70 MGLT were attached to either side of the spar.
The A4 variant boasted much greater endurance over its earlier predecessors, but was penalized with less powerful deflector shields and loss of accuracy in the ion cannons. The loss of shield power provided a boost in engine power, but the combination proved insufficient and the A4 variant developed a poor reputation among its pilots, and the starfighter was said to move like a "sleepy Hutt”. Although slow for ship-to-ship combat, it was still capable of engaging other craft, and the Y-wing was excellent when used for planetary bombing runs.

Hammer One
- Name: Captain Aren Finn
- Species: Human
- Gender: Male
- Astromech: R2-F7
- Bio: Born on Corellia, Finn was a member of Public Safety Service for a number of years before becoming disillusioned with the political agenda of his superiors. After handing in his resignation Finn purchased a small freighter with the aim of making his fortune as a legitimate business man. Life however has a funny way of changing plans. On a run from Coruscant to Sullust his freighter was attacked by pirates who stole not just his cargo, but his entire ship. Leaving him floating in space in an escape pod he resigned himself to death when a squadron of fighters escorting a corvette exited hyperspace to make a course correction. Spotting the escape pod on their sensors they tractored the pod into the corvette’s hold saving his life. As the corvette and escort headed back to the port they called home Aren was introduced to the Kotahitanga-Unity Defense Force and the Jedi they served. With nothing to return to Aren volunteered and, after evaluating his skills, assigned him to the Warpigs.

- Species: Rodian
- Gender: Female
- Astromech: R5-E3
- Bio: Born on Rodia Asota made a name for herself as a bounty hunter in her younger days however, looking for a steadier pay check, joined the K.U.D.F. Asota’s even temper and years of experience as a bounty hunter made her the ideal choice as the Warpig’s executive officer.

- Name: Lieutenant Grady Jenkins
- Species: Human
- Gender: Male
- Astromech: R5-C7
- Bio: A native of New Tython Grady volunteered for the K.U.D.F just after his eighteenth birthday. Now just twenty years old Grady is the baby of the squadron and often the butt of the older members jokes. He takes it all in his stride however and lately has begun to give as good as he gets.

- Name: Ensign Nak-Tor
- Species: Harakoan
- Gender: Male
- Astromech: R2-V6
- Bio: A native Harakoan, Nak-Tor is one of a new breed of Harakoan warriors that are embracing technology to serve in the K.U.D.F. A highly spiritual individual Nak-Tor was in training to become a priest when Cy Thuron overthrew the government. Leaving his spiritual life in the past Nak-Tor took up the mantle of a warrior. When forces loyal to Odan-Ur retook the planet Nak-Tor volunteered for the K.U.D.F.

Mace One
- Name: Commander Mikel Fraser
- Species: Human
- Gender: Male
- Astromech: R2-H2
- Bio: A former test pilot for Sienar Fleet Systems Fraser is now more machine that man. After various accidents during testing Fraser has had extensive cybernetic surgery to replace his left leg, both arms as well as the left side of his skull, left eye and lower jaw. He also has several artificial organs including, but not limited to, a heart, lungs and liver. After being fired by Sienar Mikel was contacted by an old friend, Romus Ar Del, in an effort to recruit him into the K.U.D.F. Considered reckless but extremely talented Mikel often needs to be reined in by cooler heads within the squadron. Always fond of a drink and a fight Mikel spends most of his downtime in one seedy bar or another. It’s hoped by his superiors that placing him in a position of authority his more reckless tendencies will be curbed.
Mace Two
- Name: Lieutenant Gar
- Species: Ugnaught
- Gender: Male
- Astromech: R5-E7
- Bio: Gar is rare for his species, an Ugnaught that chose to fight. Originally working as a K.U.D.F mechanic Gar spent all his free time in simulators until he was good enough to join the Warpigs. Constantly with a chip on his shoulder Gar is generally considered a humourless little tyrant by the Mon Cal mechanics assigned to the Warpig’s but a ruthless flyer who makes up for his lack of skill with a fierce determination by his fellow pilots.
Mace Three
- Name: Lieutenant Alia Al’tin
- Species: Twilek
- Gender: Female
- Astromech: R2-P3
- Bio: A former slave on Nar Shaddaa Alia was rescued from a life of servitude by Aren Finn during his days as a freighter captain and the two are have been a couple for the past year. The heart and soul of the Warpig’s Alia is alsways to first one to congratulate someone on a job well done or console when things don’t go right.
Mace Four
- Name: Ensign Sklee
- Species: Trandoshan
- Gender:Male
- Astromech: R5-L9
- Bio: Formerly a mercenary the Trandoshan Sklee was less than successful in his chosen field. Taken prisoner during an engagement between K.U.D.F forces and a Hutt cartel Sklee threw himself on the mercy of his captors and, after nine months of supervised work, he was offered a place in the K.U.D.F and the Warpigs. As the newest member of the Warpig’s Sklee has been doing his best to intergrate himself into the squadron with mixed results.

- Name: Commander Romus Ar Del
- Species: Duros
- Gender: Male
- Astromech: R5-P2
- Bio: A former engineer and starship designer for Sienar Fleet Systems Romus was considered something of a wunderkind. Over the years he assisted in the design of drive cores and power systems however life was becoming increasingly strict as the Empire’s influence over the day to day running of SFS became overbearing for anyone not born human. Sensing which way the solar winds had begun to blow the Duros packed up his family and left heading for the outer rim. Eventually landing on New Tython he lived with his wife and two children in peace until Cy Thuron’s coup detat. Romus raged at the thought that he could do nothing to keep his new home out of the hands of a tinpot dictator. When the Jedi of Odan-Ur, aided by the K.U.D.F, retook the world Romus saw his chance to defend New Tython and his family and immediately volunteered for the K.U.D.F.

- Name: Lieutenant Commander Kasey Cloudsinger
- Species: Human
- Astromech: R2-M6
- Gender: Female
- Bio: Kasey was a rarity among the pilots of the Imperial Navy. Not only was she a woman she also managed to go the entirety of the Galactic Civil War without being shot down. With the fall of the Empire and the end of the civil war Kasey retired to her homeworld of Tatooine but the quiet life of a moisture farmer was not for her. Selling her services to the highest bidder for a few years she eventually found herself in the service of the K.U.D.F. Kasey is the joker of the squadron and is usually the instigator in any prank or joke that takes place. It was also recently discovered that she is a distant cousin to Naree Cloudsinger, the Jedi Master that trained House Odan-Ur Jedi Salbecca.

- Name: Lieutenant Kars Savrak
- Species: Shistavenan
- Astromech: R5-K9
- Gender: Male
- Bio: A former smuggler from Uvena Prime Kars found himself stuck on New Tython after Cy Thuron overthrew the government and installed himself as king. He found himself thrown into a detention camp with anyone considered a potential threat. He languished there until the K.U.D.F liberated the planet. It was then that he volunteered for service within the K.U.D.F. For a long time he was far more comfortable by himself, his time in the detention camp hardening his already introverted personality. Lately however he has started to socialise more with his squadmates.

- Name: Ensign Riana Gahan
- Species: Mon Calamari
- Astromech: R2-E9
- Gender: Female
- Bio: The daughter of the Warpig’s Mon Calamari head mechanic Riana was born on New Tython and was groomed by her father to one day join him as a mechanic, her dreams however were very different. All she wanted to do, from the moment she laid eyes on starfighter, was fly. Eventually convincing her father to allow her to volunteer for the K.U.D.F she was placed, at the behest of her father, with the Warpig’s. Ever the optimist Riana always has a smile on her face and always has a joke or two to try and lighten the mood.
