Dark Templar Prajna Berkana aka "PJ" is a proud member of House Dorimad Sol under the Clan Scholae Palatinae. He also bears the burden of Guardian of Cerea, officially responsible for defending the sector of his home world. However, he is rarely called to this service. The most recent acting Guardians are now his Entourage, who can often be seen on and off the battle field with the skilled soldier.

Character History

Fear

Mother was a beautiful queen. She ruled the town of Ta-Gal with such grace and poise that she would have rivaled even the greatest of politicians back in the days of the Old Republic. Father too was a good man. He ran our local pub, and somehow never drank a pint in his life. He was kind to all, and was the quickest wit this side of the Majestic Mountains, which began their towering skyscrapers on the far side of the most pristine lake I have yet to see.

I, on the other hand, was a mess of a child. I was smart, strong, and fast. More importantly though, I was fearless. My parents ran the town, so I could get away with anything. Many times that limit was tested. My favorite prank was to release the pigs and the chickens of old Lady Seirr and watch her try to chase them town; usually half the town was required to come together to bring them all home. Lady Seirr had a daughter, and she was the only Cerean whose physical beauty I thought could rival my mother.

At only 11 years of age, I had already set the record for the fastest time to swim the length of Lake Ta-Gal. Only later did I realize it was my natural connection of the Force that gave me such speed. The record was previously held by my grandmother, the previous Queen of Ta-Gal, who set it when she was in her mid-twenties. Already, my parents knew that this small town could not contain me any longer. Within a week they had made arrangements to send me to the Cerean Capital for discipline and training. Wow! No words could explain how excited I was. Most of Cerea was peaceful, but some would go out and travel the space lanes. A few had even been known to train as Jedi Knights of the Old Republic.

The Guardian of Cerea, a vibrant middle-aged Lady Berkana, was no Jedi. However, she had much to teach me. I spent two years studying all about the galaxy. There were hundreds of meters of parchment and millions of data-bytes on the history of unknown numbers of civilizations. I absorbed it all quickly like a sponge. I particularly enjoyed studying the wide array of military strategy, from the Empire all the way back to the Mandalorian Wars and before. Then my training really began.

I had caused minor trouble around the large city, but nothing that was beyond what was expected of a young boy in a new place. However, every time I was caught, I would be severely punished by Guardian Berkana. So I learned to not get caught. This got worse as I began to learn various different forms of martial arts, and also how to fight with a wide variety of weapons. I began to fight. And I loved it! I craved it. I yearned to prove my superiority to anyone I crossed. Lady Berkana was always impressed with my ability to learn everything so fast, and told me more about the Jedi. I couldn't understand how the Jedi could waste such a gift and power and not use it for more. In hindsight, I can see I had always walked the path of the Dark Side.

My favorite training mixed everything I knew into one almost perfect form of warfare. I wielded two Ryyk Blades, the famed weapons of Wookie Elites. Many very fine warriors across the galaxy would never be able to wield such ferocious weapons, but I moved so fast that the air itself seemed to lift the weight to make them no more an effort then if I was swinging just my fists.

Anger

On my seventeenth birthday, I challenged my master. She unleashed a fury of one form of combat she had never taught me; Lady Berkana was an Echani Master. I fled in shame. Finding a ship wasn't hard, I stole a small vessel from the starport, the only connection on the whole planet to the outside galaxy. I traveled to many planets, drinking, fighting, and on a few instances even killing. It gave me new energy every time I drew blood from some weaker fool. The only path I now had was looking for Jedi. I knew they were stronger than that old Echani fool, she had even said it herself!

I worked as hired protection, and occasionally an assassin as well, to pay for my drinks and travels. This lasted almost 3 years. I learned more about galactic politics, and also much more about space-faring. This is when I heard of the Grand Jedi Master Luke Skywalker, who had defeated the entire Empire single-handed. He had lost his other hand in a fight, so it really was with one hand! I had visions and dreams of meeting this Jedi and making him teach me his secrets. Instead, I followed rumors of Jedi that lead me to the Dark Jedi Brotherhood.

I had finally found a home worth having. This whole mini-empire contained warriors in an eternal struggle for power, a constant war. And more so, I found competition. No longer were these barroom brawls against drunken thugs, but trained fighters like myself, and Dark Jedi with the Force: another weapon better than any mere vibroblade. I sought out a famed elite of even these warriors. He was called Locust, because he was a tornado of speed and a plague of doom to those he fought. I defeated all three of his other apprentices at the time. So quickly they fell, I barely could understand. I had such a passion and desire and greed to learn from this Master of Warfare, that I was first really able to feel the Force make me faster, stronger, and smarter.

A year I trained, and made myself a weapon of pure might. Yet still the Force escaped through my fingers when I grabbed for it. I had to find the best of the Dark Wizards. And so I hunted down the Scholars of the late-Emperor, who was said to be the strongest of all Wizards. Here I begged their leader to teach me. He refused. I left the brotherhood, and came back many times over the next 6 months. Finally I challenged the Krath (that was the name of wizards) leader to a battle of combat. He refused to kill me, and picked me up with the Force and took me in to train. I don't know what he saw, but I like to think it was passion.

Even during my training, I would often leave for months. I found an Echani teacher outside the Brotherhood, and learned some basics of this ancient art. It wasn't enough for me to be an Echani warrior, but I learned the fallacies of the combat style, so one day I could defeat my old teacher and take the throne as Lord Berkana, Guardian of Cerea.

Hate

This finally happened, toward the end of my training with the Scholae Palpatine leader, High Priest Braecen Kunar. We returned to my home, in search of parts for my first lightsaber, the will and testament of the Force. This is when I confronted my old Master, used my new strength with the Force and all my knowledge of the galaxy, and crushed her swiftly.

Now I am a blade of Obelisk might, a wielder of the Force and a soldier of the Clan Scholae Palpatine. This is my past, and this is where my story begins...

The Entourage

Member Discriptions

Kyn-Nix `Pal

Sister of the Jedi Padawan "Tap". Eldest of the Entourage. One of the original practiciners of Ner Yan. Physically strong, and wise from experience. Healer and leader.

Que Korrat | Qi Korrat

Twin daughters of the late Jedi Hunter Del Korrat, servant of the Emperor. Look identical, except Qi has a single red eye which is blind. Exotic and wild for Cereans. Fast. Warriors more than force users.

Ada Seirr

Cousin of the former Jedi Watchman, General and Jedi Knight Tarr Seirr. Prajna's favorite female, and by far the most beautiful. A moderate Cerean, though still more traditional than most anyone that would find themselves in the brotherhood. Strongest in the force of the four women.

Ada grew up with Prajna, and both always secretly watched the other from a distance. Prajna left the town much to young for anything to happen, but still he has caught himself in daydreams with her. Now that Ada has come with the Entourage, the two have begun to act on their past.

History

Cerea has a long tradition of remaining neutral in war. Still some members of the race have ventured out, eager to explore. However, these few were pulled away by a most violent event.

Ner Yan

While much of the ways of the Force still remain a mystery, it is thought the conjunction of two brains has increased the likelyhood of Cereans to feel the Force. However, to be able to control this bond alone is even more rare than in humans. Once in a group, then the strength of many becomes stronger than any part, and the Force can do anything. When several Cereans open their mind in meditation, they form a mind chord that creates a powerful link to the Force. This is the basics of Ner Yan.

It is not known exactly when it was discovered, as Ner Yan was always a secret society of Cereans. The cult was first brought to use by either the Jedi Master Ki-Adi-Mundi or his successor, Jedi Watchman Tarr Seirr during the clone wars to help protect the planet while the Generals were fighting against the Confederacy. Kyn-Nix soon took charge of the cult, as a representitive to the Council of Elders. She did so upon the death of her Jedi brother during the Battle of Merson.

Defense of Cerea

The Council of Elders knew of the threat of the Alien Invasion from the Yuuzhan Vong through loose correspondance with the New Republic. Upon failing to contact the Fallen Guardian Berkana, they turned to Kyn-Nix. She knew that no power of the Force could protect the planet. Instead, she contracted a plan that involved moving a small Ner Yan away that would distract the Vong invaders. She selected four of the greatest practiciners of the art of defense and took them in a small ship.

The members of the flight group succeeded in hiding the location of the isolated system from the Aliens. However, the group were captured, and given as prisoners to a high ranking Priestess. She studied them in hopes to learn more about Jedi and the disconnected Force.

Aftermath and Entourage

The Priestess was in the battlegroup that devasted the Dark Brotherhood. It was only after the initial assault she discovered an ancient Temple on Juddeca. Here she held her prisoners in torturous cages.

On a rade to reclaim the temple and world that was home to Clan Scholae Palatinae, Prajna Berkana found the Cerean women. He killed the Priestess with help from the Ner Yan of the group. It was not done before the Priestess managed to kill one of the members of the Defense Flight, Hinder-Joliet.

With Cerea considered safe, the Entourage has joined up to help and aide Prajna. He works with them in efforts to discover new ways to use the new Force Power with his own heightened control. The Entourage also keeps in contactwith the Council of Elders, in hopes that if Cerea ever calls, they can lure the true Guardian of the Pearl back home to her rescue.
