Vessel Information

The Venator-class Star Destroyer was originally designed during the Clone Wars and came less than a year after the Victory-class Star Destroyer. At the end of the Clone Wars, it had outclassed the Acclamator-class assault ship and the Victory I-class Star Destroyer to become the primary capital ship of the Republic. Venator-class Star Destroyers are 1,137 meters long, making them some of the largest capital ships capable of atmospheric operations, landing on planets to load and unload troops and vehicles. It was designed for the purpose of serving as a medium-sized, versatile multi-role warship ranging in roles ranged from a starfighter carrier, a military transport, and a fighting ship. As the Galactic Empire rose to power, the Venator was gradually phased out as the Empire wanted bigger, stronger ships. Many Venator ships fell into the hands of pirate groups and other organizations.

History

The Venator-class Star Destroyer was awarded to Clan Taldryan for a victory in the Seventh Great Jedi War. The Venator brought much more fighter support to the Clan and a powerful battleship as well. After being refit and put in action during extensive Clan exercises, the Katarn was turned into the Clan Flagship following the loss of the Dark Prophet in the initial attacks of the Vong Invasion. After suffering extensive damage during the Battle of Antei, the Katarn was decommissioned and sold for parts rather than having it fully repaired.
