Headmaster (HM)— The Headmaster is the person in charge of running the Shadow Academy.
There are very few roles in which the success of the Councilor can have an astounding impact on the Brotherhood. Headmaster is one such role. Responsible for all new member affairs, the Headmaster’s activity is essential in keeping the lifeblood of the Brotherhood flowing. He is primarily in charge of the Knight Commander of the Brotherhood and the Society of Envoys and ensures that new members are properly welcomed into the organization. The Headmaster works with the Master at Arms to ensure the proper elevation of members within Clans so as to retain the maximum number of active members possible. Beyond this, the Headmaster is in charge of the continuing education of regular members. He develops and keeps the Shadow Academy as a center for learning covering both fictional and practical subjects. The Headmaster trains and keeps the largest force of any Dark Council staff.

Shadow Academy
- Fully responsible for the upkeep and maintenance of the Shadow Academy
- Oversees the development, maintenance, and administration of Shadow Academy courses
- Appoints and trains Eclectic Pedagogues who are responsible for the grading of coursework
- Ensures that exams are graded in a 24-72 hour period
- Must have a thorough understanding of the course offerings within the Shadow Academy so as to direct the advancement of the school
- Willingly takes proposals for new courses, directing creation or issuing denial according to Shadow Academy Policy
- Directs the development and maintenance of the Shadow Academy website
- Ensures that the Shadow Academy is free from cheating, administering Shadow Academy-related punishments and forwarding all issues to the Chamber of Justice
- Jointly with the Master at Arms coordinates the promotion policy for members taking Shadow Academy tests
- Jointly with the Grand Master assists in the development and maintenance of Alacrity documents as they pertain to the Shadow Academy
- Maintains the standards for character histories
- Approves or denies character histories as they are submitted
New Members
- Responsible for the welcoming and development of new members of the Brotherhood
- Responsible for the upkeep and maintenance of the Test of Lore
- Jointly responsible with the Master at Arms in enforcing the Brotherhood policy against clones.
- Coordinates with the Grand Master, Seneschal and Knight Commander of the Brotherhood to develop and maintain Dark Fury policies and ensures that they are being enforced properly.
- Responsible for responding to questions from new members in a kind and timely fashion
- Promotes positive relations between new members and veterans
- Develops and maintains a career guide to help incoming members
- Jointly with the Master at Arms helps to coordinate Clan promotion guides
- Jointly with the Master at Arms helps to coordinate Clan Master/Student Program
- Must ensure that a reliable source is available to take questions from members when on Leave of Absence
- Maintains all database-processed e-mails that new members receive and ensures up-to-date content and informational, though succinct, communication
- Society of Envoys, Knight Commander of the Brotherhood
- Directly superior to and responsible for the activity of the Knight Commander of the Brotherhood
- Coordinates with the Knight Commander of the Brotherhood to ensure that Envoy work is progressing and new members are being welcomed into the club
- Coordinates with the Knight Commander of the Brotherhood to run regular checks that ensure that Envoys are actively assisting new members
- Coordinates with the Knight Commander of the Brotherhood to ensure a strong working relationship between the Clan Summit and Society of Envoys on new member training
- Jointly with the Grand Master assists in the development and maintenance of Alacrity documents as they pertain to the Society of Envoys
Degrees of Dark Lore
- Develops and maintains the system for Degrees of Dark Lore
- Solely responsible for awarding and recommending Degrees of Dark Lore
Scrolls of Indoctrination
- Jointly with the Master at Arms creates and maintains the standards and regulations for the awarding of Scrolls of Indoctrination
- Receives and processes all requests for Scrolls of Indoctrination
Fictional Role
The Headmaster is the head of the Shadow Academy the the Society of Envoys. He is in the Dark Brotherhood's Master of ritual and lore and is charged with the training of all new Dark Jedi as well as the further education of those who have not yet obtained Mastery.
