This page needs to be revised. -- Kaine Mandaala 14:25, 4 May 2007 (MDT)

Aye, it sounds really ugly. I'll work on making it sound better --Aabs 22:45, 13 October 2007 (MDT)

Is RL Discrimination and Prejudice classed as Vandalism? The current quote of the day defines an entire culture in a gross and insulting sexual manner. Quote of the day is supposed to be a funny thing, as I understand it, but the current one is just sick and in poor taste. Impie 12:42, 3 March 2008 (MST)

  • From the Third Edition of Black's Law Dictionary:

vandalism, n. 1. Willful or ignorant destruction of public or private property, esp. of artistic, architectural, or literary treasures. 2. The actions or attitudes of one who maliciously or ignorantly destroys or disfigures public or private property; active hostility to anything that is venerable or beautiful."

I would be hesitant to apply the requisite intent needed for the crime of vandalism to this particular situation, since the quote obviously was not intended to destroy/damage the Wiki itself. Of course that's only my opinion ... Vladimir 13:48, 3 March 2008 (MST)

  • I, nor the quoted, did not intend to be insulting. The quoted were only joking. I am glad that you pointed this out, Impetus, and I apologize if it came across as "gross and insulting". I will make sure to look at a possible quote from a different point of view before posting it. -- RevengeX Palpatine 14:26, 3 March 2008 (MST)
  • Wow... seriously? People need to learn to take a joke. It's called a sense of humor - look it up. --Shadow Taldrya 15:30, 3 March 2008 (MST)
  • Vladimir - I know Vandalism probably wasn't the best place to put this, but I didn't really know where else to put it. On the Main Page they seemed to have more constructive comments than someone wishing for a more ethical main page.

RevengeX - I think any negative quotes aimed at specific people irl should be avoided. I probably won't be the last to get annoyed at a quote like this. Although this circumstance was probably me over-reacting; it was triggered by very similar real abuse I have recieved in the past from various db and non-db members, online and irl. When you have one type of less civilised people calling English people like myself 'a group of flithy inbreds' to cause offence, and another making an innocent joke about the sterotype, it's hard to differentiate, and that's the main reason racist jokes aren't looked upon kindly in today's society.

Shadow - I'm surprised you wasted your time in your futile attempt to patronise me. Doesn't a Gaming Tribune have anything better to do these days? Impie 16:07, 3 March 2008 (MST)

  • Wasted my time? Not at all - I live to impress upon the DB the value of a sense of humor... it's as much a part of my job as running gaming events. Now, despite the fact that you were the one stating a problem with an IRC quote, my wise words were meant for all, so please don't believe I've singled you out. Many people will read this page and they too can benefit from my years of experience with the intarwebs. --Shadow Taldrya 16:33, 3 March 2008 (MST)
  • How about we get rid of the quotes altogether? None of the actual "funny" ones can ever be put up since someone or another will be "insulted" by them, and so the ones that are put up are just...well...plain. Just get rid of it altogether --Halcyon 17:30, 3 March 2008 (MST)
