Kuat Drive Yards laid the keel of The Baron in mid 25 ABY as part of its expanding fleet-building deal with a Corporate Sector Authority subsidiary, in reality a front being used by the Dark Brotherhood. It would remain in storage at Xa Fel while the custom designed ships of the fleet were transferred to the Verpine for technical upgrades. In the aftermath of the Vong incursion into Brotherhood space it was presented to Clan Plagueis, christened in honour of the fallen member Baron Zarco, and now serves as its flagship.
The Baron is stationed above Kapsina, equipped with a full wing of starfighters and two transports to better protect the Clan headquarters, House Exar Kun, and the remnants of Sistros Acquisitions and Holdings. This peacetime complement consists of 2 squadrons of Scimitar Assault Bombers (Archer and Omen), 2 squadrons of TIE Avengers (Kite and Verdict), 2 squadrons of TIE Interceptors (Templar and Chaos), and the DX-9 Transports Blatant Rascal and Nomad's Ring.
