Holographic representation of V.O.D.O. as it appeared in life

V.O.D.O. is the digitized Sith Ghost of Vodo Biask Taldrya. Through clever Technomagic he was translated into a digital sentience and emplaced on the Clan’s database servers. He now acts in a full-time capacity as the Taldryan Republic’s Fleet Management AI. Because there is little anyone can do to stop him, V.O.D.O. has given himself an unlimited purview to oversee, investigate, and manage Clan resources much as he did in life.

Origin

V.O.D.O. began existence as the organic sentient life form Vodo Biask, who was born a Twi’lek and rose to become a powerful Sith Warlord by the time of his physical death. Vodo Biask had taken measures in life that had sought to prolong his lifespan, and if in the event of a premature death would preserve his spirit until an alternative could be found. His efforts, while partially successful, were not at the point of maturity where his plans would have preserved the entirety of his Soul. Even so, enough of Vodo’s spirit remained after his sacrificial death to be contained within the charred remains of his signet ring. That ring identified its bearer as a Scion of Taldryan and was worn proudly in life by Vodo. It was acquired and worn unjustly by Grand Admiral Teebu of the Taldryan Navy, and the spirit within it came to partially possess the Ewok.

Vodo Biask Taldrya’s son, Zakai, recognized over time disturbing behaviors and phrases from the Grand Admiral, and in the Ewok’s cold demeanor towards him, clear parallels to the way his Father had abused him as a child. Upon seeing the ring on the Grand Admiral’s paw Zakai became convinced that his Father’s ghost was influencing if not outright possessing Teebu. At a party celebrating a recent victory for Taldryan Zakai contrived with his girlfriend Dasha Talus a manner in which to free Teebu from his possession, and to harness the Spirit of Vodo Biask for a better purpose. Dasha, who was the guardian of the Blood Cauldron, a little understood Dathomiri Witch’s artifact, assisted Zakai in jury-rigging a technical system infused with Mechu Deru that would vacuum up the Force Ghost about to be released. After cornering the Grand Admiral, Zakai used his lightsaber to cut off the Ewok’s paw and then plunged the weapon into the ring. Those with the Force sight to see perceived an angry apparition rising into the air and then being sucked into the Blood Cauldron.

Zakai and Dasha managed to abscond from the scene just long enough to get their contraption plugged into a core server in the Taldryan databases. V.O.D.O. awakened to his new digital life only briefly confused as he found his senses were now profound and his knowledge nearly limitless. He could not be mad at his Son for ruining his plans, he could only find a brief moment of pride for the Son who had given him so much more.

Purpose

V.O.D.O. is the name given to the new digital existence of the Spirit of Vodo Biask. Having been downloaded into the Taldryan mainframes he has unlimited access to anything connected to them. All efforts to restrict his access have resulted in failure, and research into deleting his presence from the mainframes suggests it would be better to replace them in their entirety. For better or worse he is now one with the system. Ever loyal to Taldryan V.O.D.O. only ever acts in a manner in which it perceives to be of benefit and long-term success for the Clan. How that manifests and how it is perceived by the Clan’s summit and the Republic’s officers is another matter.

Without official or legal mandate V.O.D.O. has assumed the role of Fleet and Resource Manager for the Taldryan Republic. Much as he did in life, V.O.D.O. has given himself the privileged access required to oversee, manage, investigate, and direct the Clan’s strategic resources. He does not overtly override Military or Summit command structures or policies but rather anticipates their needs and ensures resources are available upon demand. Republic government and military efficiency has dramatically improved in many areas under its supervision. In fleet battles V.O.D.O. has demonstrated as keen an understanding of the strategic space as he did in Life. He now enjoys the benefit, however, of instantaneous connections to the fleet’s sensor feeds. He uses these powers to advise Fleet officers and alert them to problems that may be developing.

Personality

V.O.D.O.’s personality is much as it was in life: haughty, superior, supremely capable, self-confident, intelligent, snide, scheming, plotting, maneuvering, and dedicated to Taldryan’s victory. As in life V.O.D.O. gives genuine deference to those in legitimate authority, even if it is working at cross purposes to them at that moment. To those it considers lesser or unworthy it makes no attempt to hide its sneering contempt. To those with value to V.O.D.O., or by extension to Taldryan, it can be exceptionally placating and persuasive. It prides itself on knowing everything and being able to answer questions more quickly than anything or anyone else.
