"Only after great pain, do you see life as a whole."
―Revak Kur

Revak V. Kur is a Human/Hapan male from the planet Dromund Kaas. Believing it was his "destiny," he traveled to New Tython at the age of 24 and was quickly accepted into House Odan-Urr. It was there he began to study under a Hapan female, Guinevere Deschain and ascended the ranks quickly. Having grown up around Warriors and Sorcerers, Revak found the Sentinel Jedi path fitting. He worked as a Jedi Shadow until he began to favor more face-to-face combat. Now he fights as a Guardian and is currently serving as Aedile of House Hoth, Odan-Urr.

Physical Appearance

Revak has a short and stocky build. His muscles are well defined due to his physical training and well managed diet. Because he is a mix of Human and Hapan bloodlines he is considered slightly less attractive when compared to a pure blood Hapan. His hair is dark brown in color and usually kept in a short military style. On longer missions, he allows his hair and bread to grow long. His eyes are mostly green with only a thin band of beige and brown tones circling the pupil.

While on diplomatic missions Revak either wears the King robes, when there is a need to sway others to his cause, or the Noble robes when a more refined, diplomatic look is necessary.

In the field, Revak wears the Nomad or Dervish robes. Walking confidently onto the battlefield, he aims to intimidate his enemies and win the battle before even drawing a weapon. He mainly wears his Monocle Ocular Enhancer both on and off the field but his battle-helmet is donned during battles to protect his head as well as make up for his lack of night vision. A DD6 blaster pistol is also strapped to his thigh.

Personality

Revak chose the Guardian path because of his upbringing and his time in the Cuy'val Dar. He is well trained for his role as a Peacekeeper meaning he often doesn’t strike first. Revak often uses negotiations first, but when talks fail, he will fight hard to bring a victory. As far as combat, Revak has a balanced approach to this as well. He relies on both his Force and martial abilities. As a side skill, he has been training with the use of blasters and bladed weapons.

Through a combination of preparing, studying, and analyzing, Revak creates detailed battle plans and tries to think two steps ahead of the enemy. At times, however, this can lead to him creating complicated schemes that can baffle less intelligent subordinates. Additionally, killing has never been a problem for Revak. Killing's what he does, and he likes what he does.

Through careful study and dedication to isolated martial-combat, Revak has turned the act of dueling into an art form. A keen eye and attention to detail allows him the ability to learn their opponent's idiosyncrasies while fighting. He then uses his own skills to capitalize on the opponent's weakness. Because of this calculated approach to isolated duels, he has a harder time taking on multiple opponents at once at higher skill levels.

While generally laid back and more than happy to offer a quip of sarcasm, his entire demeanor changes once combat begins. He becomes focused and quiet, with his smile replaced with a look of grim determination as he is utterly devoted to success in combat, no matter the mission, no matter the cost. Revak has spent his life building himself in the image of war, utilizing a dogmatic regiment that has lead him to a single-minded obsession with military success and requires intense physical and mental training. This training, however, has come at the cost of anything resembling empathy or concern for others - even his superiors and subordinates. But once the fight is over and he is able to clear his mind, Revak returns to his fun loving self.

History

The Brutal Couple

The story begins with Lou Kur and Aris Vadon on the battlefields of the Galaxy. Lou was a Human male who served as an Imperial General and an Emperor's Hand agent during the later years of the Galactic Empire. He was a ruthless and brutal Warrior who often liked to be in the middle of a conflict instead of watching from a distance. Instead of fear, men under his command looked up to him. They had a sense of pride being assigned to his unit, as it was a prestigious position and one that almost always meant certain death.

Aris was Hapan and a powerful Sorceress. She too served as in the Imperial Navy. Using either Mind Tricks or lightning, she would unleash brutal attacks on her enemies. Her presence on the battlefield was both welcomed and feared as she would only join the fight if the odds were no longer in her favor. She would eliminate anyone who would cause her to lose a battle, regardless of what side they were on. It was this brutality that drew Lou and Aris together. Upon the death of the Emperor in 4 ABY, they left the Empire to hide away on the terrestrial world of Dromund Kaas. It was in Kaas city that they birthed and raised their first and only child, Revak Kur.

The Early Years (9 ABY – 28 ABY)

Revak had a childhood much like any other born to Sith parents. He would wake up, eat then train. From the moment he could walk, Lou began training him in the “martial combat of a soldier,” Echani. Any outsider would view this as simple “roughhousing” but to Lou, these moves would be an invaluable tool to Revak if he was to somehow become disarmed. Lou desired Revak to be a better tactician than he was. He would often make puzzles for Revak to solve and explained that, whether in combat or not, the importance of knowing your opponent and finding weaknesses would be the difference between victory and defeat.

As his coordination and strength improved, Lou began to introduce weapons. Starting out using simple sticks, Revak established a good foundation before being given bladed weapons. Revak looked forward to the days that he and his father would run through drill after drill, conditioning both his mind and body. He often dreamed of being in battle and fighting to the death, using his superior skill, strategy and strength to win over his enemies.

Another aspect of Lou’s training was to not use the Force. As it is common to amplify your physical abilities with the Force, Lou though it better to be in top physical condition during battle and to use what Force energy you had for other things. Revak’s physical training consisted of cardiovascular conditioning and heavy weight training. Although, as ruthless and brutal was Lou had been in battle, he had a side most though rather odd; his eating habits. Lou believed that nutrition had an indirect bearing on how strong someone was with the Force.

“The better the food: the better the body. The better the body: the better the Force.”

Nutrition and strict dieting was introduced from a very early age. Each meal was carefully planned and rationed. Meals usually consisted of high quality meat and vegetables. Things like fruit, bread and cakes were to be consumed sparingly. When Revak was 12, he would go out on his own and hunt the various beasts of the planet. Aris on the other hand worked more with the Force and the ancient teachings of past Sith Lords. She would show Revak datasticks containing biographies of major Sith Lords. He grew fond of the power they wielded and the massive grip they had on the Galaxy.

Revak was a quick learner when it came to using the Force. He was very capable of channeling his emotions into devastating attacks. But that was not all his mother taught him. Aris had a strong mind. She favored Telekinesis and Mind Tricks.

For telekinesis, Aris would draw three different boxes on the ground. Each box had a corresponding block. Revak had to pick up a block and drop place it in the box, lining it up perfectly. Revak quickly mastered the initial stages but as his skill increased, so did the difficulty. The blocks would be placed further away and eventually, with much practice, Revak could do it with his eyes closed.

The training he received on mind tricks was much more brutal. Only a small portion of his training was about how to manipulate others. Mostly she focused on how he can protect himsel. Aris would unleash horrible mind attacks on her son. She would infect his mind with bad thoughts, fear and sorrow. She would put images into his head from things that she had seen from her battles. She would even convince him that everyone he knew was dead and that he was next. The effects of this training kept him awake all night as his mind tried to organize and rationalized the images. When he did sleep, the images would terrify him, waking him up immediately. In time, his mind would begin to fight off the attacks. The images that once scared him, we learned to drive back to their source. As his proficiency increased the more he could withstand.

Leaving Home

"... go anyplace but here."
―Aris Kur

Around Ravak’s 18th birthday, the tension between Loa and Aris was far too great. Upon arriving home from work early, Aris found Loa standing across the room from a blindfolded Revak; pointing a small blaster at the boy's chest. He looked at her with a smug grim and pulled the trigger. Aris screamed as the bolt flew through the air. Almost instantly, Revak ignited his father’s lightsaber and caught the bolt with the bright red blade. The bolt was sent across the room and out the window of their house. The look of pleasure on Loa’s face turned to anger when Aris grabbed the blaster and demanded that Loa stop this: "Revak WILL become a Jedi!" Aris grabbed the lightsaber from Revak and pushed him into his room. His parents fought for hours. After the slam of the front door, Revak walked out of his room. He found his mother crying on the floor. She looked up and explained how he was going to be a great Jedi one day. She told him that following the dark side would destroy the ones he loved. Revak promised his mother that he would follow the light. She handed him what credits she had to get a transport off-world.

Di'an

"It's your life. Live it the way YOU want to. Don't let anyone tell you how to live YOUR life."
―Di'an

Revak eventually found himself in a Dantooine cantina with money running low. After paying for his drink, a Human female caught his attention from across the bar. Her wavy brown hair partially covered her face. Her eyes met Revak's and she smiled so he walked over and introduced herself.

Ravak and Di'an would grow to because close friends. She was a traditionally trained Jedi Guardian who survived the Purge and would train Revak in the Light Side of the Force. She also owned her own ship, the Mystic, which she trained Revak to pilot.

On Revak's 24th birthday, Di’an burst into the crew bay holding a decorative box. She placed the box on his lap. Revak removed the decorative paper covering the box. He opened it, revealing a Late-Republic style battle mask. She explained that she had acquired it from an organization she ran supplies for many times. The Cuy'var Dar, Mando for "Those who no longer exist" were a clan of warriors and priests. Di'an told him that if anything was to happen to her, he must seek them out on Korriban and show them the mask. She made him promise that he would.

The Death of a Jedi

"Death is a natural part of life. Rejoice for those around you who transform into the Force. Mourn them do not. Miss them do not. Attachment leads to jealously. The shadow of greed, that is."
―Jedi Master Yoda

It was on Kashyyyk, around 34 ABY, that his life would change forever. While Revak was refueling the Mystic, Di’an walked down to another platform full of food and clothing merchants to restock their rations. As she paid for the items, a loud explosion was heard overhead. A Republic Cruiser had exploded in space and came crashing through the thick forest canopy. Large tree branches, engulfed in flames, rained down on the landing platform. Revak was hit and knocked back by the falling debris. The impact knocked the wind out of him and sent him to the ground. He jumped to his feet. His head bled from the impact but amongst the screaming and chaos, he heard a familiar voice screaming for help. Revak started to run towards the cry for help. He dodged falling debris and leapt over massive flaming cruiser parts, until he made his way to the front edge of the platform.

Behind a wall of fire he found Di’an trapped by a large piece of the engine. He screamed to her that he would save her. The raining debris prevented him from making the jump across the flames. She screamed in agony as her clothes caught fire. He screamed her name as if doing so would extinguish the fire. The look of pain and terror on Di’an’s face went away as her eyes met his. The chaos seemed to disappear, as they both seemed to savor the last moment they would see each other. She smiled at him and mouthed words “I will always be with you.” The moment ended when a large branch came crashing down on the platform. Large red-hot embers filled the air.

Aerial view of the crash

When the flames died down, all that was left was half a burned platform. Revak sat near the edge and leaded over. A faint orange glow quickly burned out into blackness. Time seemed to stop. Revak sat numb to all the noise and commotion around him. He placed his left hand on the platform to push himself up, and felt something underneath a file of ash. Brushing away the soot, he revealed Di'an's lightsaber. Revak clenched the lightsaber tightly as an image of her stuck in his mind. Revak rose to his feet. Before walking up the boarding ramp he turned and looked back at the scene. He took a deep breath then exhaled slowly before boarding the ship. He sat in the pilot’s seat, and broke down in tears. Vowing to make Di’an proud of him and to keep his promise to her, he fired up the engines and took off into the sunset. The destination: Korriban.

Cuy'val Dar

Mando for "Those who no longer exist," the Cuy'var Dar are an organization of warriors and priests who came together roughly around the end of the Empire. Members are often distinguished by an intricate design depicting the head of a dragon. Though one would have to look hard to see it.

Equipment

Mask

Mask of the Cuy'var Dar

The mask is one of his most valuable pieces of equipment. The outer shell is composed of Cortosis Shielding. The designs were all chiseled by hand. The eyes are enhanced for low light viewing as well as high light shielding and an air filtration system built into the mouth and nose of the unit.

Monocle Ocular Enhancer

The Monocle Ocular Enhancer as worn by Snoova

When not in battle or other hostile situations, Revak prefers to wear the M.O.E. instead of his mask. This light weight eye wear is the same worn by the Wookie bounty hunter Snoova and grants him "increased visual acuity and better low-light vision."

Mystic

File:Mystic.png

He made several improvements to the ship including a newer hyperdrive, armor and shield generator, two automated laser turrets that can be controlled by his astro-mech droid.

R9-9D

"Nine"

He purchased R9-9D or “Nine” to help him with improving the Mystic and various other tasks. The outer shell of the droid was a dull white with blue accents. The droid had a quirky yet fun personality that oftentimes humored Revak.

Weapons

Lightsabers

File:SurvivorPurple.png
Revak's Lightsaber

Upon being knighted, Revak constructed his first lightsaber. It has a vented emitter, black rubberized hand grips running the full length of the hilt and emits a green blade.

Revak mainly used the lightsaber of his first Master, Di'an. She wanted it to have a sturdy hilt to withstand her favored Form V technique. Its elaborate design is both for show and practicality. The hilt is weighted towards the emitter allowing for more one-handed control. The notches below the activator switch allow for better grip and the wooden rear grip is both for reduced weight and aesthetic appeal. This lightsaber produces a purple blade.

Though he carries two lightsabers on him, only one is used at a time.

Ceremonial Axe

File:War Axe.jpg
Axe of the Cuy'var Dar

Obtained when he became a full member of the Cuy'val Dar, Revak keeps the axe holstered to his left hip. Often used along side his lightsaber, Revak uses it mostly as a tool, but will dispatch enemies with a brutal chop.

Sidearm

Hobbies

Revak likes to sit and think from time to time. This allows him to center himself to focus better on tasks. He'll often take off in the "Mystic" and relax to really loud music.

Trivia

  • The one thing that Revak always carries with him into battle… sour gummy-worms.
  • Claims to be “The Best Smelling Jedi” in the Universe.
  • Tends to procrastinate.
