The chief law enforcement of the Stony Point settlement on Salas V, Sheriff Lina Soka in charge of keeping approximately 1500 people safe.
Character History
Childhood
Lina Soka grew up on Coruscant to Darrik and Mystella Soka, a pair of wealthy inventors who had made their credits on a part that improved hyper drive efficiency by 7%. She had a very aristocratic upbringing, going to the best schools and being in high class circles. She was destined to become a powerful and influential member of the Coruscant elite and perhaps a Senator. There was nothing Lina Soka couldn't have been. She had it all. Then came the Yuuzhan Vong and the terrible war they waged.
Resettlement
Lina Soka was one of the lucky ones to escape the Fall of Coruscant in 27 ABY, but her parents were not. An orphan of war, she found herself lost after the refugee ship reached Corellia. To survive, she signed up for the Corellian Navy when the recruiters came through the camp looking for volunteers. The sixteen year old would spend the next two weeks drilling before she was assigned to a new CR-90 Corvette straight off the assembly line. The Heracles would spend the next three years patrolling the Corellian System, first for signs of the Yuuzhan Vong and later to secure the border from the increased crime after the war.
Training
In 30 ABY, Soka was released from duty from the Corellian Navy. Having no plans of returning to Coruscant, she went to the CorSec Field Office on Tyrena and joined. Soka was sent to the Corellian Security Force Academy where she excelled and graduated fifth in her class of one hundred and five. She would start off as a patrol officer and work her way up to Lieutenant, commanding a precinct on Tyrena by 34 ABY. She was depressed by the position, which demanded a great deal of paperwork generation. Reading an intelligence file laid on her desk one day, Soka learned of an opportunity for a Sheriff on a newly settled planet of Salas V in the Unknown Region. She fumbled through a resume, sending it to the contact information provided and learned a week later that she would become the first Sheriff of Stony Point, as soon as she arrived.
Stony Point
Stony Point is one of the tinier settlements on Salas V, situated about 50 miles north of Artois in the middle of mining country. With a population of 1500, Soka is the only full-time law enforcement officer in the settlement and quite respected for her fairness in dealing justice. Crime in Stony Point is mostly juvenile fun, which forces Soka to show ingenuity in handing out punishment, usually of community service nature, if any. When something malicious happens, after investigating, she will send the offender to Artois, where he or she will appear in front of the Magistrate.
Encounter
Soka was investigating a murder in the forest near Stony Point when she ran across a contingent of a paramilitary criminal faction from Artois. She was outgunned and nearly out of ammunition when James Roberts-Brannigan, investigating the theft of a Revan artifact, appeared and dispatched the dozen criminals with an armory saber. Suspicious of him and astounded by his skills, she arrested him and took him down to her office while she could sort things out.
An hour later, a larger contingent of criminals appeared, angered by the death of their leader. The first thing they did was set up a jammer, cutting Stony Point off from the rest of society and any hope of reinforcements from Artois. James pleaded with Soka and convinced her to trust him. After she release him, he was able to contact Slopok and have the MAAT Ripper One-Three destroy the jammer and fire upon the criminals, forcing them to flee.
Afterwards, James, partly impressed and partly smitten with Soka, gave her his contact information and the promise of helping to protect Stony Point whenever she needed it.
