Krayiss II is a planet located in the Stygian Caldera nebula region of the Outer Rim. Considered one of five sacred worlds of the ancient Sith civilization that formed the heart of the Sith Empire. Krayiss II is home to a massive library-temple that is a place of meditation and study for Sith sorcerers. Sometime after 14,000 BBY the world was somehow buried and forgotten, a lonesome obelisk becoming the only remnant of long gone Sith supremacy. The planet found itself in the annals of history once again around 34 ABY when the One Sith occupied the planet in the hope of uncovering the Library-Temple and the secrets it held within. It would later be invaded by Dark Brotherhood forces originating from Clan Arcona and Houses Taldryan & Odan-Urr in retaliation to the One Sith's defiance of the Iron Throne.

History

A view of the badlands

Considered a sacred planet, Krayiss II attracted Sorcerers, Magicians, and Kissai to the planet's Sith library-temple. Founded in 14,000 BBY, the library-temple served as a pilgrimage for those who wished to push the limits of the Dark Side and conduct dark side experiments.

Events that have been lost to history led to the abandonment of the library-temple and concealment within the Dark Side of the Force. By 4,000 BBY the library-temple was completely entombed below the surface of Krayiss II, except for an obelisk that extended from the top of the structure. Accessible only through meditation and incantations, the obelisk serves as the gateway to elevating the library-temple from Krayiss II's surface.

Over the course of ten thousand years, the library-temple serves as a beacon for all those who could sense the Force. Jedi and Sith alike traveled to the obelisk monument reciting incantations and succeeding in elevating the library-temple to Krayiss II's surface. Each attempt was met with failure as the Sith spirit guarding the structure deemed those attempting to access the library-temple's secret unworthy. As of 4,000 BBY the structure was known to be guarded by a black cloaked Sith spirit, the spirit of Jedi Master Jev Sunrider, and two additional disposed Jedi Masters.

In 34 ABY, elements of the One Sith occupied Krayiss II in an attempt to unearth the secrets of the ancient library-temple. The One Sith expedition was led by human Sith Lord, his Nagai acolyte, and two dozen Sith aspirants. Unable to bypass the Sith Spirit guarding the library-temple, the one Sith established a base camp and small starport to sustain operations on the planet's surface. As of 36 ABY, the One Sith expedition had scoured Krayiss II and uncovered several Sith scrolls and artifacts. Possessed with the knowledge provided by these relics, the One Sith anticipated accessing the library-temple within months.

Description

Geology

Krayiss II is an unremarkable world dotted by mountainous regions, desert wastes, and rocky badlands. The majority of the planet consists of unforgiving black desert sands making travel by foot an arduous, and often extremely dangerous, task. These great sun-scorched flatlands are sporadically interrupted by mountainous terrain that varies from rocky badlands with dangerously jagged spiked, to entire mountain ranges that stretch beyond the eye can see. Small icecaps covering the poles, alongside a number of land-locked seas, provide a source of water. There are numerous ruins of abandoned settlements, but they are few and far in between. Intelligence speculates that the settlements were built around long since dried up oasis's and natural springs. The desolate state of the world in general, along with craters of an unknown origin suggest that a cataclysmic event happened in the past that led to the abandonment of the world.

Climate

The general lack of vegetation, barring the tall grasses and short trees along the coastal regions, means that Krayiss II has massive fluctuations in temperature depending on the time of day. During high-noon the temperature frequently rises up to 50°C, before dropping do a bone shattering -70°C at night. Being covered in deserts and rock formations, the days are extremely arid and bright. Coupled with a harsh wind due to the relatively open terrain, the desert sands cause frequent sandstorms that form a hazard for anything but the crudest of equipment and any living being that gets caught by surprise.

Moons

Krayiss II's two satellites, Hakagram and Nakru, are in near-synchronous rotation with the planet. During Krayiss II's night cycle, the two moons provide a small amount of illumination on the planet's surface. The moons roughly measure 3,150 km in diameter, are devoid of life, and are completely exposed to vacuum. At present, there are no geological studies of the planet's surface indicating any form of mineral deposits.

Hakagram

Named after the Sith King, Hakagram Graush, who ruled the Sith Empire around the year 6,900 BBY. The satellite orbits at 247,000 kilometers, the closest of the twin moons.

Nakgru

Named after the Sith King, Nakgru, who ruled the Sith Empire around the year 16,900 BBY. The satellite orbits at 249,000 kilometers, the furthest of the twin moons.

Landmarks

Sith Empire Library-Temple

The Library-Temple

The ancient Library-Temple was home to the Sith sorcerers of old. Primarily used for studying and meditation at the height of the golden age, it has since become a run-down ruin. Located near the planet's equator, the Ancient Sith Library-temple remains entombed in the rocky surface of Krayiss II. The lone indicator of the temple's existence appears in the form of a narrow tapering monument with a pyramid-like shape at the top. Covered in Sith runes, the obelisk servers as the gateway to elevating the library-temple from the planet's surface. Once raised, the library-temple consists of angled walls, pyramidal towers, and massive wooden doors at the structure's center. The angles of the temple focus the arcane energies of the Force, a building design owed to thousands of generations of Sith that perfected the dark arts. The massive wooden doors are carved with ancient Sith runic scripture and writings. The interior of the library-temple holds the results of over ten thousand years of Sith experimentation by Sorcerers. Scrolls, holocrons, and legendary heirlooms litter the halls of the immaculately preserved facility. Steeped in the Dark Side of the Force, many of the items are tainted with the power of their originator's soul and possess the capability to consume the will of treasure hunters and Sith alike.

Darth Zash's Outpost

Darth Zash, a Sith witch from the Great Galactic War, who was seen as one of the greatest pursuers of arcane knowledge in her era held a small outpost on the planet. Though records of her exploits on Krayiss II are far and few in between, it stands to reason that she would have held a personal interest in the Library-Temple. Unearthed in 35 ABY by the One Sith, Darth Zash's Outpost was originally established as a hidden base in the event the Sith Lord needed to vanish from the galaxy. Protected by automated defense systems and maintained by maintenance droids, the Outpost operated independent of the galaxy for over 3600 years. During the initial discovery of Darth Zash's Outpost, the One Sith uncovered four Fury-class Imperial Interceptors before abandoning their search due to heavy casualties resulting from the Outpost's defense systems.

Spaceport

Erected in 34 ABY by the One Sith. This unnamed spaceport was created to support the One Sith's expedition on Krayiss II. The facility is designed to provide logistics, off-world transportation, and houses a very small defense force. Shaped like a hollow circle. The spaceport provides space for a single corvette-class ship in its central landing pad. Scattered around the spaceport itself are raised platforms that serve as landing pads for half a dozen starfighters. Aside from the Sith acolytes on station, the only other means of defense are a pair of FPC 6.7 Anti-Aircraft Batteries. Since overtaking the long abandoned outpost used by Darth Zash during the Great Galactic War proved to be to big a drain on resources and personnel, the One Sith have adapted to using the spaceport as their main base of operations until they are able to secure the Library-Temple
