Character History
Another Meeting with Darkness….
Eludajae landed her ship on the landing pad like she had the earlier visit this time an Acolyte came to her and asked her to follow her to a small building off to the side where she found the mad Shan Long sitting and eating, something.
“Oh come morsel,” Said Shan Long, “Join me in a fine meal.” Eludajae walked over and sat down and nodded, “Master Shan Long,” she looked over the meal, “So…who is it?”
Shan Long chuckled and said nothing but placed food on her tray she ate, she was not certain what she was eating but she was certain she could detoxify it later; she wanted the knowledge kept in his head. He smiled and made small talk and Eludajae gave him news of the outer worlds and he nodded. Finally he waved his hand and the food was removed. “So you want to know do you?” Shan Long smiled, and his eyes went black for a moment and a large book flew over and opened in front of her, the candles flared and a hot wind blew. She looked at him and smiled at the theatrics. “Are you sure you want to know?” He asked ominously.
All Eludajae did was nod, and he smiled and the book opened, “Careful what you ask for morsel you might get it…The Chronicles of Dark Souls has your answers.” Eludajae move to look into the pages, “Careful some knowledge burns, wouldn’t want our morsel to be branded…a heretic would we?”
Shan Long’s manical laughter is all could be heard as Eludajae reached out and pulled the book to her lap, Shan Long clasped his hands together and let out what could only be described as a cooing demonic purr. “Oh just like a sponge…wonder if she is as tender?”
The doors closed with an ominously finality to them as Shan Long’s laughter echoed into the storming night …
Tales of the Obelisk
-As Told by Countess Eludajae after reading the heretical text the Chronicles of the Dark Souls.
Ferran, the First High Commander of the Obelisk Order, is as much of an enigmatic character as Tiamat who he slew 3950 c. However, before this it was Ferran who was the last to arrive on Antei, it is said that Okemi and Tiamat “reached out” and drew him to the Shrouded system.
Who was this enigmatic warrior that left his mark on all of us?
Long before the Triumvrate before he plunged Son’Jiatt into Tiamat’s heart Ferran had been something else. Ferran belonged to the Mecrosa Order and quite possibly was one of their most powerful assassins and Force-sensitive knights. Throughout the Old Republic period this order was involved in nearly every Sith oriented activity within the galaxy, especially the Tapani Sector. These warrior-assassins were willing to take on any mark, even Sith lords. Their combat and assassin prowess was so dangerous and cunning that in later years the Jedi Order would try and wipe them out.
Thus, we know that Ferran was highly trained both as a Force-sensitive warrior and assassin and carried the legendary Son’Jiatt, the blade that would not only end Tiamat’s life but end the Star Chamber’s existence and cause the down fall of the Triumvirate and the desolation of Antei. Other than this singular act of destiny we know relatively little about this warrior.
Like his counterpart Tiamat, he lived in a time of constant war and conflict where he would feel most at home. His great prowess would be honed in the century of conflicts both in the galaxy and the fifty years of empire the Triumvirate created on Antei.
Being a member of the Mecrosa Order alone would have made Ferran one of the most formidable warriors in the known galaxy, but he also followed the teachings of Alaiedon and Son’Jiatt , the name sake of the blade he carried. Imagine learning the teachings of one of the three students of Lord Darth himself.
The Chronicle of Dark Souls, specifically the Book of Memories, is a book of poems that depict the exploites of Lord Darth and his students in particular Alaiedon the consummate warrior. It is from this tradition that Ferran comes from, from what little we know, his ties to the ancients is a clue to what this man would have been like.
A consummate warrior and a consummate assassin, master of both the blade and the art of shadows. It is easy to see how Clan Naga Sadow feels a great affiliation with this great warrior. The first High Commander of the Obelisk left the order a rich and long history of warrior traditions to bring together the consummate warriors of the battle field and the shadows. By following the teachings of their first High Commander the Obelisk order had access to the teachings of not only the two greatest warriors in the Old Republic era but also the greatest warrior and assassin organization in the history of the galaxy the Mecrosa Order.
It is easy to see why the Obelisk have such a proud and rich traditional aura to them. Consummate warriors willing to sacrifice even their lives for victory, living for the combat but striving for the victory makes each Obelisk worth tens of normal conscript soldiers. The only warriors that come close to their resolve and skill are the Mandalorian warriors of old.
Imagine the singular man who all of them aspire to be, the consummate incarnation of war and death that Ferran must have been. We may not know of where he comes from, most likely from one of the long dead Tapani Noble lines, but we do know his legacy with us has lasted for hundreds of years after his death. The singular act that imbedded him in the history of Antei and the Brotherhood forever was the killing of Tiamat at the sacrifice of his own life.
But what of the man that could match the sorceries of Tiamat and the power of Okemi, these three demi-gods shaped the destinies of hundreds of thousands and our very own Brotherhood for decades to come. Ferran, like his mystical blade Son’Jiatt, are now and forever, they symbolize all of the Obelisk and all warriors within the Brotherhood regardless of order or calling.
He died the way every Obelisk wishes to, for the greater victory of their Order. Ferran is and was the consummate symbol of skill and prowess. It is this death that has also fostered the distrust between the Krath and Obelisk Orders to this day…
Here ends the Tale of the Great Warrior Ferran… and the beginning of the Tales of Son’Jiatt.
