Joss Malin was a Commodore and acting commander of the Eighth Fleet following the Battle of Antei. Malin was soft-spoken for a flag officer, but held the respect of his crew and peers and was one of the few officers to impress the Grand Master during the Fall of Antei. Malin also served the fleet as commanding officer of the new flagship, Nightfall. He died in combat during the Reclamation of Antei, fighting against the Jedi in Anteian space. Ganrea Beeliz assumed the role of CO after Malin's death.
History
Malin was recruited by the Dark Council into the Brotherhood’s naval forces from the ranks of the Emperor's Hammer. There he had served with some distinction as a Lieutenant Commander until falling out of favor with the Hammer’s High Command. Ostracized from his identity as a naval officer, Malin was highly receptive when Grand Master Sarin offered him a position within the emerging naval forces of the Dark Brotherhood.
Captain Malin proved his worth during the Yuuzhan Vong Incursion while in command of the Dark Brotherhood’s former flagship, Autarch. Under the Grand Master’s direction, Malin successfully created the diversion necessary to allow the majority of Brotherhood forces to withdraw from the Battle of Antei.
