Character History
464 BBY - 20 BBY
Born on Anzat 464 years before the Battle of Yavin, Son’El was like any other member of his species; he’d fight and feed off the ‘luck’ of sentient life forms. Sometimes he would do it for fun; others for profit.
During the war between the Republic and the Separatists, he took jobs for either side. Whichever paid him the most would get his loyalty, and he would feed off of his victims. Everything was going fine for him until he took one mission for a Separatists.
In 20 BBY, 1 year before the end of the Clone Wars, Son’El took a job for a Separatist commander to assassinate the head of a Republic garrison. Hungry for the ‘soup’ of a Jedi, Son’El readily accepted the contract and began hunting his prey.
When he confronted the Jedi, he was offered no resistance. The Jedi, a Corellian master named Ren, simply knelt before him, his arms extended outward and surrendered himself to his fate. He closed his eyes as Son’El lunged forward, his tentacles extending from the pouches on his cheeks, and his brain was eaten by the Anzat.
It all changed after that.
For the first time in his life, Son’El wept at the life he had taken and fed upon. He began to despise his own race and himself and he went into exile.
20 BBY - 30 ABY
Son’El spent the next 50 years in self-imposed exile. He lived on a remote world in the outer rim in deep meditation. He survived by feeding on lower life forms but, every so often, he had no choice but to venture to a world with sentient life and feed. He hated it, prolonging it as long as the hunger would allow him. When he had to feed he did his best to only target those members of society that did not deserve to live; murderers, rapists, and other criminals.
30 ABY - 38 ABY
Having lived during the time of the Jedi, and having fed upon a number of them in the past, Son’El had become much stronger with the Force. With that strength came an understanding; whether or not knowledge of control had been gained when he fed from the Jedi or from the Force itself was unknown to him. What he did know, was that he was powerful.
Had he gained this power and remained as he had once been, he would have become a formidable Dark Jedi. But, since his apparent rebirth when he fed upon the Jedi Master, he could only see the light. He would kill; not for pleasure, but for need. To survive or save others he would be a monster; but he would only do so if there was no other choice. Jedi killed when they needed to and so would he.
Clan Odan-Urr
In order to do the most good, Son’El ended his exile and made his way to New Tython; the home of the Jedi of Clan Odan-Urr. Though associated with the Dark Jedi Brotherhood, the Jedi of Odan-Urr were not dark and with them he would become a force for the light.
Trivia
- Son’El derives his name from the protagonist of the Dragonball series of manga and anime (Son Goku) and the Kryptonian family name of Superman (Kal-El).
