They drifted for a few months more than they were meant to, a rogue ship of sorts. They had enough supplies to last them for as long as they needed, within reason, and yet not one person aboard the ship wanted to go anywhere. The grief and pain had overtaken them, suicides had occurred over the ship and as it stood Videk found himself staring at the barrel of his own blaster most nights. Boarded and removed from command along with his men they were moved from the ship and taken prisoner by Clan Naga Sadow. He can’t really recall much of what happened after that. What he can recall is his loyalty to the Clan began to build, Videk pledged his service and was not found wanting. Assigned to a new command, along with some of his old crew he soon found himself under the command of Sanguinius, a Jedi of all things. He hated himself for surviving when everything he loved had been lost and the Jedi knew and could feel this. He helped him and through it the man's loyalty to the Quaestor of Marka Ragnos grew slowly but steadily.

Gregorius Videk is the current Captain of the MJHC Retribution of House Marka Ragnos.

Character History

Born on Coruscant prior to the Clone Wars Gregorius Videk never truly appreciated the beauty of a peaceful galaxy. Raised by diplomats of the Republic he spent most of his time being moved from residence to residence, being handed off to strangers to be kept and fed and simply existed in a family that had no time for him. As he aged he attended school and would often pass out at the top of his years, however due to the nature of his parent's job he never truly acquired any friends and this began to stunt the young man's social skills.

On his 17th Birthday,a year before most allowances due to his grades, he was moved back to Coruscant and entered the naval academy. He spent three years there before passing out with honours at the rank of 2nd Lieutenant and put under the tutelage of an older officer, Captain Bradshaw. Bradshaw attempted to teach the young man everything he knew but soon found what he had to teach was soon outstripped by the what the boy had managed to teach himself. Amused he began setting harder and harder challenges for the young officer until finally after a year of hard work he was promoted and given command of his own. The escort frigate he was assigned to wasn’t anything spectacular but to him it was perfect. His first chance to prove himself in a time of peace.

Then war broke out.

He was recalled from his frigate whilst a more senior officer was put in place, he was moved back under Captain Bradshaw’s command as the first fleet engagements sprung up over the galaxy. Their first conflict was above the planet of Geonosis, where in truth the start of the War was to begin. They shuttled thousands of Clone troopers to the front lines, their war machines, and armaments. Jedi Knights and masters passed him in the corridors as they prepared to launch into action. The young man was in awe and terrified of what was to come.

Though the majority of the fighting took place planetside Videk soon found his ship targeting the enemy's capital ships as they attempted to flee the planet. His own ship engaged and managed to weaken one of the behemoths whilst more of the fleet moved into assist. A combined effort found the Separatists capital falling back to the planet it had just attempted to depart from and Gregorius watched as debris and fire rained back to the surface. The engagement didn’t last long as there was nothing truly on the planet that could cause the Republic’s newly deployed fleets much effort but as he soon found out the true horror of War was to come.

Over the conflict he found his rank rise and, after the death of Bradshaw, his command grow. He took over duties aboard the Venator Class Star Destroyer and the rank of Captain. He took part in engagements above Kashyyyk and finally above Coruscant. His Venator was severely damaged and he himself was taken out of action for several months as he underwent surgery to repair his face, arm and upper torso. When he was finally dismissed he found himself an officer of the Empire rather than the Republic.

For his bravery and sacrifice, he was awarded the rank of Commander and assigned as Commanding officer of one of the new Imperial Star Destroyers. A sleeker ship than the Venator he was used to he soon found a knack for commanding it and used it to patrol the galaxy bringing justice to the enemies of the Empire as he was commanded. He had always been a soldier and believed that he needed to follow the orders he was given regardless.

He, however, began to have issues with certain policies the Empire began to enact involving the persecution of aliens and those who spoke out against the harsher policies of the Empire. He kept his opinions to himself and over the years began to develop a reputation as an effective commander and loyal Commander of the Empire. For this, he was transferred to the Imperial Naval Academy where he was to be a teacher and pass his knowledge onto the up and coming recruits.

He hated it. It was not the bridge or a command of any sort and he disliked these young upstarts going out year upon year to do what he had been doing. His requests for transfers were constantly rebuked time and time again with the same response, that he was simply the best they had to do what he was doing. For ten years he did nothing but teach, he became the idol for a few youngsters when he told his war stories but it soon became apparent what he knew was quickly becoming outdated and he feared he would even be replaced at the Academy and then it happened, the Rebellion and the destruction of the first Death Star.

He was reassigned to active duty and soon found himself in the familiar bridge of an ISD. His first major action took place over Hoth where the fleet moved to blockade the planet from the Rebellion. The sortee itself failed as the rebels managed to flee the planet and his fellow ships were disabled by Ion pulses. From there on out he took part in smaller engagements hunting down rebels, traitors and putting down resistance on those planets who dared begin to rise against the Empire.

He was called in as part of the fleet engagement that occurred at the battle of Endor and though his men and him engaged with utter certainty against the forces of the Rebellion he soon found his resolve wavering as the second Death Star exploded. His men urged him to flee and though he was not one to run he watched as his comrade's ships turned tail and disappeared into hyperspace. Facing the deaths of his men or the idea of surrender...he did the only thing he could do, had his ship jump to hyperspace and return to Coruscant.

Things moved quickly from then on, the Empire surrendered and the New Republic came into play. He avoided charges of court martial and dismissal and he swore loyalty and his service to the Republic once more. For another thirty years, he guarded the space of the Republic and the people he had once taken part in subjugating .

The rise of the First Order worried him. They claimed so much and some old part of him wanted to give it all in and rejoin the fight for dominance...but that part of him was young and stupid. He had a wife now, and a child. He had met her on Hosnia Prime which had become the capital of the New Republic. He had left the planet for a diplomatic mission to a neighbouring system when he received the news of what the First Order had done. Hosnia Prime, the Fleet, everything was gone. He hammered his personal comm console as many aboard his ship did and they were all found wanting. No word came back, there was nothing. They had lost everything and for it, they slipped into Darkness.

Then one night after a jump they entered the Orian System and everything changed.

He helped him and through it, the man's loyalty to the Quaestor of Marka Ragnos grew slowly but steadily.

It was a new beginning and a new life, and he was damned if he would waste what was left of him.
