The Seven Pillars was an event that took place in 38 ABY and extended well into the following year. An archeological dig on Kiast by Duros Professor Calo Sarat came into possession an ancient journal belonging to Jedi Master Shula Sularen while excavating the Velastari Temple. Having stolen the item from a powerful Vatali noble, Sarat directly approached Clan Odan-Urr for help, both to offset the political risks and for expertise. The involvement of the Jedi led to a major expedition to discover and preserve elements relating to the Jedi Order's history.

Event Details

Kiast

Episode I Fiction

Through both legitimate and underhanded means, Professor Calo Sarat established an excavation site on Kiast, seeking to examine the interior of the Velastari Temple. Although the excavation of the site itself was founded legally and via official means, he sought the services of a Quorahi Captain to steal Master Sularen's journal. Failing to outline the true nature of this venture's risks, their agent came close to murdering Sarat and his assistant, Asiz Tokani, and only relented following payment.

Having already succeeded in breaching the temple interior and tunneling their way through the collapsed western wing, they were able to secure and preserve a large number of artifacts. After uncovering statues of robed figures and attempting to fully examine Sularen's writings, Sarat opted to involve Clan Odan-Urr to further enhance his research and as protection against possible threats. As the journal had been taken from Barad Ghalor, one of the most powerful figures within the system, this was seen as a vital move to both speed up their research and potentially offset any threats.

Their choice proved to be highly fortuitous, as the Jedi were able to uncover a hidden room within the temple known as the Cave of Light. Details from their findings soon pointed to a series of relics and potential finds on the damaged world of Jedha.

Jedha

Episode II Fiction

Having arrived on Jedha and establishing a research camp in the Cradle of the Wanderer, Sarat and Azis continued their research, now under the management of Odan-Urr's Jedi. They discussed a number of potential options and discoveries, chief among them that Wanderer was a Jedi or potentially a Disciple of the Whills. As the dig progressed, they worked with Jedi Master V'yr Vorsa as their primary contact and supervisor. They were still left to root through and examine the various finds from the Cave of Light, linking to further worlds across the Outer Rim and Deep Core, most of which had been places highly valued by the old Jedi Order. A key point of curiosity was the mention of a war over Kiast against an enemy armada, and the frequent description of an ancient warship known as the Light Of Ki’Asma. While details were vague, the scale of the conflict and nature of the enemy appeared to be extremely dire.

Vorsa was as curious of this as the others, and the subject was something that she held some wider knowledge of. In speaking of it to the two archeologists, she made it clear that they were more than happy to support their efforts, but concerned for their safety. Since the Empire's attack many years ago, Jedha had become far from safe by any means. The safety they offered was more thanks to going unnoticed than force of arms, and a sizable number of criminal groups operate on the planet. Resupplied and with the Odenites keeping watch for threats, the dig continued.

Episode II Epilogue

After weeks of work and continued digging, the group had uncovered a wealth of relics from about the surrounding area. While progress had been slow, Sarat had been working himself to breaking point to analyze and judge what they had uncovered, even as more works had arrived. Going from a number of discovered texts, Sarat was able to find that three of the most important scriptures had been recorded in different languages. While one had been identified as Ancient Sith, the others were harder to pinpoint. Azis was able to identify at least one as mentioning ‘Namut, chief among the Whills', in a variation of High Sith that had deviated from the common structure. After some effort, they were able to identify it as a form of the language used on Zeffo, while the third was similar in structure to the language used in one variation of the Rammahgon.

Although nebulous, the prominence of these discoveries were clear to anyone examining them. However, Vorsa was forced to cut the excavation short. While they had been able to repel and turn away the few groups that had found them, a growing number of slavers had gained interest in their efforts. Even help from the local law enforcers, which had been beneficial until that point, would not be enough to turn them away. Having facilities in the Praxeum to help translate and record their findings, Vorsa was left to push the others into hastily departing.
