Talk:Final Way

From Wikipedia of the Dark Brotherhood, an online Star Wars Club

In case anyone wants to know why I've added the Rule of One as another name, I've been having a really long and obscenely geeky philosophical discussion with Trev about it all week and we both agreed it seemed a logical conclusion and way of linking it in with the canon more directly.

Anyone who's reading the Legacy comics will know Darth Krayt preaches the "Rule of One" as an improvement on Darth Bane's Rule of Two. His understanding is that it is a Rule of One Sith order, allowing there to be as many Sith as the Sith order itself has no limits. It also means as there is just one Sith order, the Jedi order no longer has any place in the galaxy. Darth Krayt's "Rule of One" on its own pretty much describes what the Dark Brotherhood is. We have different ranks, Clans, and all other fluff, but we're basically the same sort of setup -- one Dark Lord, bunch of Sith Lords, tons of minions, acolytes, knights and other things.

The Dark Brotherhood has always talked about the "Final Way" -- well, I say "always", I should probably say "those who have any clue what it means have". I've always felt this article was a bit slim, so have been meaning to expand on it anyway. The Rule of One simply proved a good way of explaining why some DB characters see the Final Way as being about a legion of Dark Jedi ruling the galaxy (a la Darth Krayt) and why other DB characters see it as being about themselves being the one true Lord and Master (a la clone Palpatine). Rule of One as a phrase is so ambiguous it seemed to fit quite well, and I imagine makes more sense to 99% of people, as aside from me and Trev nobody ever seemed to know what "Final Way" meant anyway :P --Xanos 06:48, 5 August 2007 (MDT)

This article should be annotated to state that the "Final Way" and all corresponding philosophies derived from it are a branch of the Dark Brotherhood's beliefs. Jac, Sarin, and several others ignored this line of history in the DB Completely and considered it Dark Side rubbish. If 99% of the club does not pay attention to it, then it is not really our organization's driving philosophy. Just because Trev and Xanos wrote fiction making them the Dark Warlord's of the uberverse, doesn't make it reality. --GM Sarin 13:26, 8 August 2012 (MDT)

Oh my... Lord Darth, take pity on this poor votary for he has lost his way. (Nah, <3 Sarin really.) Wow is this page is old... back then, I imagine it was just to relate the Exodus fiction that had been dominating things to the comics that were all the rage at the time. But yeah, these days it's probably better just saying a few may cling to the old ways but even some GMs find prophecies ancient hogwash. Xanos 14:51, 10 August 2012 (MDT)
