Steelstrike Garrison also known as “The Rock” is the home of House Caliburnus. Nestled deep in the Phiri mountain range, this secret facility functions as the base of operations for the House.

History

Steelstrike Garrison was initially found by Imperial scouts shortly after the arrival of Clan Scholae Palatinae on Seraph. At the time of the finding, it was a mountain with deep caves that the aboriginal population used for shelter and worship. The aborigines aggressively attacked any Imperial scouts that closed in on the mountain. Under order of the Consul Thran Occasus-Palpatine, the aborigines were wiped out and the mountain cave system taken into Imperial control.

Shortly afterwards, construction began. The mountain was hollowed out on the inside, leaving several meters of rock as outer protection and structural support. Afterwards, different levels were built into it to form the Headquarters of House Caliburnus and their fleet.

Unlike its Ptolomean predecessor, the Obsidian Palace, the headquarters for Caliburnus on Seraph are no longer the opulent quarters for a tyrant. The Steelstrike Garrison was built for practicality and function rather than being a lavish show of the House's wealth.

Location

Steelstrike Garrison Location

Steelstrike Garrison is located within the Phiri mountain range in central Elaya. The closest city of note is Azatra.

The Garrison is built into the side of a mountain, making use of much of the existing cave and tunnel systems left behind by the aboriginal people who had once called the mountain home.

Its location is strategic, being within easy reach of the Monolith. Thus, it would likely be Caliburnus rising to the occasion should the Monolith and the Clan Summit require protection from any incoming threat or attack. In the case of being attacked, the base is protected by a shield that thwarts incoming energy weapon projectiles. It also has a secondary shield that forms a physical barrier protecting the base from ground attacks and in potential avalanches.

Atop the mountain where the base resides is an aboriginal shrine with hints of native astrology that is still undergoing study. However, the peaceful location has become a place of meditation for some of the Force-users of the House.

Native Neighbors

Although thought to have been permanently removed from the Phiri Mountain range, it has been discovered that pockets of surviving Aborigines exist within the mountains in hidden sanctuaries carved into them. Now and again, members of Caliburnus may stumble upon a hunting or scouting party when traversing the rugged terrain. Identified locations of said sanctuaries have been used for survival training, with House members and Special Forces expected to survive a certain period of time in hostile native territory. It should also be known that the natives have become a subject of study for the House in hopes of understanding their culture and the various artifacts discovered throughout the area.

Layout

The Rock consists of 6 levels, laid out as follows:

Sublevel: Located beneath the House HQ is a sublevel containing shield generators, power generators, and backup power generators. Much of the energy powering the base is geothermal energy leeched from pockets of vents throughout the mountain and further below the earth.

Level 1: Hangar and armory. This is where half of the House Task Force's TIE fighter squadrons, House member fighters, and the current Quaestor's VT-49 Decimator, Caliburnus, are stationed to protect Seraph in the event of an attack. Two Lambda shuttles and other shuttles belonging to House members are housed here as well. There is a large retractable opening at the bottom of the mountain that opens to allow starfighters in and out of the base. The cave system behind the hangar offers secure storage for fuel and weapons, repair parts for ships and vehicles, and a droid service bay.

Level 2: Personnel quarters for house members, barracks for ground forces, pilots, and officers; lavatories, and the cafeteria. The cave system provides ample storage areas for provisions and fresh water. This helps protect the Garrison against any siege trying to cut off supplies. The medical bay is also located on this level, with access to a nearby turbolift that leads down to the hangar bay for immediate evacuation of the sick and injured in the event of a worst-case scenario. There is also an attached chamber with hot springs for healing and therapy.

Level 3: A high-ceilinged level that serves as a training ground for members of House Caliburnus. This area contains training droids used for weapon training, climbing walls, ropes hanging from the ceiling, weights, a full-sized running track, a large swimming pool, and an obstacle course. This training area also houses a recreation hall where members and personnel can relax and engage in camaraderie.

Level 4: The War Room: Top Secret and inaccessible except to high-level members of the House and Clan. The adjacent cavern serves as a secure bunker to protect important personnel and valuable artifacts in the House's possession.

Level 5: The Quaestor’s Office and personal chambers. The personal chambers are further back in the natural cavern space, thus protecting the Quaestor against possible attacks from outside. It also provides ample housing for some of the current Quaestor's pets.
