Shaevalis Prime is a heavily-populated planet located in Wild Space near the end of the Corellian Run. It has a very temperate climate that is occasionally racked with thunderstorms due to its unusual geography. The planet has two satellites and is home to the Shaevalian race and Capital.

Geography

Geographical location situated situated near the City.

Shaevalis Prime is a densely-populated planet whose vast arrays of plants are fed by a large web of river systems. The planet has many large mountain ranges creating large river valleys which are fertile enough to support the planet's population easily. While there are few clearly defined continents, most of the world is cut up into islands between the large tributaries.

The largest river spanning much of the northern hemisphere is cradled by the two largest mountain ranges on the planet. It is at the delta of this river where Shaevalis City is situated.

Climate

The climate of Shaevalis Prime is much like that of a normal temperate zone on a much larger planet. However, with far higher CO2 levels in the atmosphere, the planet is much hotter and has a higher humidity level than what would be expected. The planet is randomly subjected to massive thunderstorms due in part to the higher concentration of CO2 as well as unusual structure of the planet's mountain ranges and valleys. Precipitation is present 65% of the time on the planet.

Weather

The weather of the planet is often wild and unpredictable due to the varying amounts of factors which influence it. The planet can be racked with dozens of small thunderstorms a day, or one or two long storm periods, leading to a high humidity level and high temperatures. The Average high temperature is 37.1 °C and the average low is 15.7 °C [Galactic Standard].

Satellites

The surface of one of the planet's moon, Arshiss.

Shaevalis Prime has two satellites orbiting, both in roughly elliptical orbits, Arshiss and Ezryyn. Arshiss is the larger of the two, roughly an eighth the size of the planet. Colloquially known as the Big Deuce, she has a cold atmosphere very similar in climate to that of Hoth. Arshiss is also the home of the Shaevalian defense force. Units are trained here and on Shaevalis Prime. As Arshiss was one of Gyssh'tyn's lieutenants, and a skilled warrior, the Shaevalians train and pay tribute to the goddess on her moon.

Ezryyn is much smaller than Arshiss, its size being more comparable to a large asteroid rather than a moon. Ezryyn's atmosphere is very thin along with a low gravitational force, meaning that the small satellites is predominantly cold and barren. Ezryyn was the spy and assassin for Gyssh'tyn during his wars; very few Shaevalians ever find reason to visit her moon, but most have her on the backs of their minds, fearful of her presence.

Flora

The planet is has large expanses of forest, leading to a large array of varying tree species. The ground cover in the forest is usually of either of the fern species or small bushes. The Ironwood Tree is one if the most sought after trees on Shaevalis Prime. While it has the look of a gnarled oak tree, its wood is as tough as ship armor plates. A specific flowering plant can only be found at the base of Ironwood Tree. This flowering plant knowing as a Disa is a vibrant crimson color and is said to have been created by the blood drops of the ancient Shaevalian gods.

In the grassland areas of Shaevalis, most of the area has actually become swamp, due to the planet's great humidity and precipitation. These areas are generally avoided by all, since the plant life there is just as dangerous as the beasts, in many cases. Those who do venture into the planet's swamps tell a variety of tales of death and disease that is as much of a deterrent as anything else to the Shaevalians.

Fauna

The vicious and dangerous predator, Onyx Stalker

While Shaevalis Prime is not the largest planet in the region, it still boast a staggering array of animal species. The freshwater fish species alone number over 1000. The majority of these species are edible, either by carnivores in the area or by the Shaevalians themselves. The most prized of which is the Greenback Deep-Sea fish, famed for its delicious flavor and its sturdiness for when deep-fried.

While not as prevalent as their aquatic cousins, land-based animals are still abundant. The largest animal on the planet is the Karyby, though its size is restricted by the density of the forests. It stands at almost 6' in height and can weigh over 400 pounds. The karyby can be used for its fats, hide, sinew, and ivory, not to mention its meat.

One of the most fearsome predators in the Shaevalis Prime forests is the Onyx Stalker, which appears to be canine animal with many feline attributes, such as extended claws and shorter muzzle. Its black coat makes it difficult to see at most times of day and is distinguishable by its trio of tails and menacing yellow eyes. The Onyx Stalker stands at one and a half meters at the shoulder, can grow to two meters in length, and weighs 200 kilograms.

Sociology

Cities

Cities of various size and technological advancement dot the planet. Most cities tend to remain moderately-developed and advanced, but some of the farther outposts and villages on Shaevalis Prime have sought to recapture that more-primal level of existence, and have banished technology to their sister cities. While the Shaevalis system is developed to a high degree of technological capability, there are parts of the population that still utilize bows and arrows, and makeshift huts for housing.

Shaevalis City is the capital of the planet as well as the main center of commerce. The city boasts two large spaceports, one commercial, the other for public transport. The city also houses most of the Shaevalian government and the majority of its land-based space forces. The garrison assigned to protect the city does so from the Military Aerodrome. The city's population is around 2 million and grows each year. The city is powered and receives water by the large river systems in the region and is protected by steep-sided mountains and forests surrounding it.
