Nashiro Kakos is a Jedi Hunter in House Galares of Clan Arcona. Prior to his arrival in the Brotherhood, Kakos has served as a Storm Commando in the Imperial Remnant where he saw action against the Yuuzhan Vong, a leader of a pro-Empire terror cell in Coronet City, Corellia and was recently rescued from a life sentence in a maximum security detention facility by members of the Dark Jedi Brotherhood. He is vehemently anti-alien and utterly loyal to Emperor Palpatine's vision of the Empire.
Character History
A Troubled Child (8ABY-24ABY)
Nashiro Kakos was born in 8ABY amid a flurry of changes in the galaxy. Imperial garrisons throughout the Core were falling to the Rebel Alliance as they used newly conquered Coruscant to solidify their control of key star systems such as Corellia. Kakos' family had long been supporters of the Empire, with his father serving proudly for many years stationed outside of Coronet City, the capital of Corellia; however, following the fall of Coruscant, the Imperial Army issued orders for their soldiers to "go to ground" and await further instruction for a sustained resistance against the Rebel Alliance.
Following the seizure of the Corellian System by the Rebels, Captain Darynn Kakos, Nashiro's father, was captured by elements of the Corellian Security Force and turned over to the new Rebel government. Suspected of ties to the Empire, Captain Kakos was executed by firing squad, along with a number of former Imperial officers. The brutality of the Rebel Alliance in those early days of conquered Corellia broke the back of any potential Imperial uprising, and many Imperial families chose to flee their homes rather than wait for the Rebels to imprison and execute them.
Nashira Kakos, Nashiro's mother, fled first to Tatooine, her homeworld, in an effort to escape Rebel Alliance "Imp Hunters". Whenever she sensed the Rebel Alliance getting closer to finding her and her son, she would book passage to another world. During this time, Nashira sought to train her son in all the combat techniques she remembered from her husband. She raised young Nashiro to hate the Rebels that had stole his father, and she made him promise her that one day, he would fight back against the forces that had ruined their lives.
For the Glory of the Empire (25ABY-32ABY)
At the dawn of the Yuuzhan Vong War, Nashiro Kakos and his ailing mother found themselves on Bastion, the capital world of the Imperial Remnant. Years of living life on the run had taken a toll on his mother, and a seventeen year-old Nashiro resolved to enlist in the Imperial Army to provide stability for his small family. Much like his father before him, Nashiro excelled in his military training, and at the end of his initial training, he was selected to attend assessment and selection for the elite Storm Commando Division.
While attending the grueling training to join the Special Operations forces of the Empire, Nashiro learned of the Yuuzhan Vong invasion of Republic space. Heartened by the news, he hoped that the two forces would destroy each other, leaving the Empire to destroy the survivors and re-establish control of the galaxy. Following his training, Nashiro was crushed to find that the Remnant would be supporting the Republic against the Vong. Despite his personal feelings, Nashiro continued to conduct numerous raids and missions against the Vong during his years of service to the Remnant.
Late in the conflict, Nashiro received word that his mother had during the Vong invasion of Remnant space. Having lost the only person in the galaxy he cared about, Nashiro's final missions in the Vong War were characterized by recklessness, leading many of his comrades to speculate that their star commando had a death wish. In addition to becoming more careless during missions, Nashiro began to openly disparage the Empire's association with the Republic, as well as criticize their changing policies towards aliens in the service. Though Nashiro's superiors relied on him heavily during the conflict, bestowing many awards for valor and bravery upon him, once the Vong had been defeated, Nashiro was quietly removed from the Imperial Army.
The Believers (32ABY-34ABY)
Following his discharge from the Imperial Army, Nashiro returned to Corellia where he became involved in Thrackan Sal-Solo's bid for election to the Corellian parliament. Having re-cast himself as a nationalist and a hero of Corellia following the Vong invasion, Sal-Solo still maintained connections to the seedy underworld of pro-Empire, anti-alien hate groups throughout the system. Nashiro quickly fell into the lifestyle, supporting Sal-Solo's campaign through violence against aliens on Corellia.
After a year of being a soldier for Sal-Solo, Nashiro began to feel restless, wanting to do more than beat up some Rodians on the weekends and shake down alien business owners for "taxes". He gathered a small group of like-minded individuals and christened them "The Believers". Convinced that the Vong Invasion had made the Republic weak, and the time for a return of the Empire was near, the group resolved to be the "tip of the spear" and begin the rebellion with one tremendous attack against the Corellian government.
Nearly a year of planning went into their operation, and though the attack was a success, Nashiro and the Believers drastically underestimated the pro-Empire sentiment on Corellia. Stunned by the catastrophic loss of civilian life, the people of Corellia demanded the government of Sal-Solo find the perpetrators and bring them to justice. His hands tied, Thrackan Sal-Solo sacrificed The Believers, exerting personal influence on the Corellian court system to ensure that Nashiro and his comrades would be executed for their crimes.
Incarceration and Escape (35ABY-38ABY)

Nashiro Kakos spent three years in a maximum security detention facility on Corellia, two of them in solitary confinement. During his time in general population, he was protected by older members of the Human League, directed by Sal-Solo to watch over Nashiro, but the anti-alien sentiment espoused by Nashiro was too much for even them. When Nashiro's ideological beliefs threatened the Human League's spice trade inside the prison, they framed Nashiro for a murder of another inmate and Nashiro was sentenced to solitary confinement for the remainder of his time in prison.
It was while in prison Nashiro first touched the Dark Side, as visions tormented him in the solitary cell. It was only though focusing on his hate that he was able to silence the ghosts of his past. Unbeknownst to him, touching the Dark Side alerted members of the Dark Jedi Brotherhood to his existence and a mission was formed to release Nashiro Kakos and induct him into the Sith. Using Clan Arcona's underworld connections, the Brotherhood was able to contract out a bounty hunter to extract Nashiro from his prison under the premise of escorting him to Coruscant to answer for his crimes in a Republic court. During the transit to Courscant, elements of Arcona were able to ambush the bounty hunter, seize Nashiro and deliver him to the Shadow Academy.
A New Life in Darkness (38ABY)
Nashiro's initial induction into the Shadow Academy was turbulent, as the Initiate did not view his "rescue" as anything but incarceration in a different type of prison. Filled with uncontrolled Dark Side energy, driven by the intense hatred he had carried and nurtured since childhood, Nashiro Kakos was a dangerous journeyman; however, through a delicate concoction of Sith chemicals and tranquilizers administered by the Shadow Academy's professor of Sith Alchemy, Nashiro was able to complete his studies and be assigned to Clan Arcona.
After a brief respite at the clan headquarters on Selen, Nashiro was assigned to House Galeres where then Quaestor Arcia Cortel selected the young Dark Sider as her apprentice. Nashiro was initially dismissive of Cortel, but his doubts were quickly silenced by the senior Obelisk warrior. Nashiro not only respected Cortel's abilities to channel her Dark Side energies into power, but also her career in the darkest parts of the Intelligence enterprise meshed well with Nashiro's experience in SpecOps. Recognizing Nashiro's abilities, Cortel challenged her apprentice by assigning difficult missions that would benefit Galeres and allow Nashiro to further develop his abilities.
Tides of Change (39ABY)

Nashiro's first true challenge in the Dark Brotherhood came with a clan feud against the Light Side devotees of Clan Odan-Urr. Though furious at his consul's willingness to pair with the traditional enemies of the Sith, Nashiro grudgingly assisted his clan against the O'reenians who threatened the Jedi of Odan-Urr. It was not until his assignment to a combined team of Light and Dark Jedi tasked to secure the Sanctuary from the invaders that Nashiro's disgust came to the surface. This alliance with the Jedi was too similar to the alliance the Empire made with the New Republic against the Vong. Nashiro had hoped that the Dark Brotherhood would remain pure, but once again, the purity was being diluted. Not even Cortel was unable to convince her apprentice to support the decision of their Consul, but the former operative had other ways to employ Nashiro.
Cortel covertly tasked Nashiro to plant a series of explosives on the massive space station that would serve two purposes: prevent the invading O'reenians from seizing Sanctuary and create a devastating disaster on the Odan-Urr homeworld that would decimate the Jedi. Unbeknownst to her apprentice, however, Cortel worked behind the scenes with her consul and the clan summit of Odan-Urr to prevent Nashiro from accomplishing his mission. The alliance between the clans required total commitment from each side, and voices like Nashiro would threaten the alliance. Once again, as had happened in Imperial service and on Corellia, Nashiro Kakos found himself betrayed for the greater good. The sabotage of Sanctuary was prevented, the alliance between Light and Dark Jedi was successful and Guardian Nashiro Kakos found himself in the familiar position of locked away in a prison cell.
Physical Description
Nashiro is of average height and weight, with black hair that hangs low on his forehead and a thin face. Due to the Sith chemicals administered to him during his time in the Shadow Academy, Nashiro suffers from an advanced stage of Dark Side corruption, causing his eyes to be sunken and yellow. He most often wears functional clothes and never goes anywhere without a weapon, either a blaster on his hip or a vibroblade in his boot.
Relationships
Arcia Cortel - Proconsul of Clan Arcona and Nashiro's master in the Brotherhood. Nashiro respects Arcia's abilities in the Dark Side as well as her experience as an operative. Her betrayal of him during the Sanctuary mission taught Nashiro the greatest lesson a young Sith could ever learn: Trust no one.
