I hear the Darkside's call and I have answered. All who have wronged me will face my wrath. - Malevek

Malevek is currently a Sith Hunter and apprenticed to Scarlet Agna in the Brotherhood. Fueled by the Darkside he has but two goals in life: vengeance and power.

Character History

Early Life

Malevek was born on Correllia circa 13 ABY during the Brotherhood's Great Exodus. Before becoming a Sith he was originally named Michael Vek by his parents Clyne and Martha. Clyne was an imperial general and secret member of the Obelisk Order before the fall of the Empire and Martha was an Imperial governor. With the rise of the New Republic, many former imperials were branded as war criminals, this included Clyne, who commanded the Emperor's Fist, one of the Empire's top star destroyers. Martha was tragically killed in a Correllian mob uprising against the Empire and Clyne took baby Michael and was on the run.

Clyne and Malevek hid on Tatooine for two years. However, following the Great Exodus of 13 ABY, Republic bounty hunters managed to find Clyne once again. While fleeing from the Republic with his son, Michael, Clyne was shot down and crash-landed on the planet of Dagobah, where both Michael and him would remain hidden for the remainder of his childhood. During this time Clyne taught the young Michael survival techniques, martial arts, and philosophy.

Early Martial Arts Training

Being an Obelisk, Clyne was highly trained in multiple martial arts and served as a martial instructor for the Empire as well as a fleet admiral. Clyne's fighting philosophy was simple and direct. "No need for the fancy animal-like movements of Teras-Kasi if you have the solid powerful punches, blocks, and kicks of the Broken Gate", he would often say. In addition to Broken Gate techniques Clyne also had mastery over Whip-tree throwing and grappling techniques; making him a force to be reckoned with while standing or on the ground. These techniques he passed on to his son Michael through harsh and rigorous training on Dagobah. When Clyne could no longer teach young Michael anything new he sent him out into the wilderness to wrestle with the indigenous wildlife. Although Clyne didn't have any aptitude with the Force the early training in martial arts and combative skill have served Malevek greatly in his later years.

"The boy is an ideal Obelisk, at the tender age of five he has already gained mastery over all the martial arts techniques I can teach him. He has also managed to take on all the harsh conditioning I can throw at him; even developing some training regiments of his own. There is something special about the boy, he commands a hidden genius and power that I will never fully comprehend. I sent him out hunting in the wilderness a couple of days ago and he has recently returned with a creature that resembles a wild boar. What was most remarkable was how he insisted on wrestling the animal with his bare hands, pushing his martial arts training further than what should be possible for any child his age." - Clyne

Early Weapons Training

My son has taken to the blade, making the metal an extension of his will and mind - Clyne

In true Obelisk fashion, Clyne trained his son using real blades rather than wooden sticks, subscribing to the philosophy that real danger develops real skill. Much to his father's pride and joy, Michael excelled with sword and knife fighting, often displaying near-superhuman levels of reflexes and combat awareness.

"I am happy with my son's mastery over the blade however his marksmanship with a blaster leaves something to be desired" - Clyne

Michael Vek is perhaps the only Force wielder that can't also shoot straight with a blaster. He dedicated all of his time studying the use of swords and knives, adding those weapons to his ever-growing encyclopedia-like knowledge of martial arts techniques and skills. After trying and failing many times Michael eventually gave up on trying to learn marksmanship with blasters. This was the only discouraging thing Clyne found in his son. As an Obelisk he believed that it was important for a warrior to be well rounded with all types of weapons, not just melee types.

Early Training in the Force

From an early age, Michael Vek knew that there was something different about him. When sparring with his father he found that he could anticipate his father's next strike before he made it. Michael's early skills with precognition developed further as his body grew strong and his mind grew sharper. When he was nine years old a cave of Dagobah called to him and he entered, there he felt the power of the Darkside and learned to embrace it's power at an early age to survive in the wild. He would frequently meditate there, focusing his mind on lifting objects or closing his eyes and anticipating when a droplet will strike his hand. With time and patient practice, he gained the ability to use some of his abilities more freely in combat.

At the age of ten, he was attacked by a jungle Wampa. Michael blocked the blow with his sword which was swatted away from his hand by the powerful beast. He drew his daggers with an ease of uncertainty, blades that small wouldn't pierce deeply enough into the beast's hide. He dodged the beast's coming strikes and with each strike evaded a primal feeling which grew in his heart. A feeling of terror and anger mixed with a resolute desire to kill or be killed. One of the beast's blows landed, throwing him against a tree as though he weighed nothing, an audible crunch and scream were heard as three of his ribs were cracked from the blow. His breath grew heavy and his grip tightened around the hilts of his daggers. As the beast was about to give a killing blow to his head a rage and power exited the young boy's fingertips, blue tendrils of energy struck the creature with a crack. Michael was about to pass out but summoned within him the strength to move his legs and leap towards the beast's neck, plunging the blades into the flesh as though the beast was being bitten by a similarly large fanged monster. With a half twist, the blades sunk deeper, killing the Wampa that attacked the boy. Michael passed out from fatigue, with his last thoughts marveling at this unknown power which flowed through him.

Adolescence

Things changed greatly for Michael after his twelfth birthday when former Republic soldiers with a grudge encountered Clyne on Dagobah. Clyne died like a true Obelisk, fighting to the last, one man against ten. Clyne had successfully killed five of the elite soldiers before being struck down. Michael came back from a hunting trip and saw the remaining five drag his father's body away. With that abhorrent sight, his emotions erupted in white-hot rage and a Dark power rested on him, telling him to kill all those responsible for this. He lept towards the men in reckless abandon, his movements were like lightning as the Dark power enhanced his speed and strength. Blaster shots were fired only to be expertly dodged and countered with a swift decapitating sword strike. A lucky shot managed to clip the young boy's shoulder but Michael fought through the pain, letting it only fuel his rage further. The last soldier standing started to panic in fear as an invisible hand gripped his throat and lifted him. For the first time, Michael relished in the killing of another, enjoying every second as the victim breathed his last.

Michael gave his father a proper burial on Dagobah and left on his victim's ship for a wider galaxy. His eyes permanently turned yellow from the anger, pain, and anguish he felt that day, his life would be forever tainted by the Darkside.

The Republic soldiers sent to kill my father were likely not alone. I swear from this day forward to bring vengeance upon anyone behind my father's death. - Michael

On the Run

Michael first set a course for Coruscant, believing that he may be able to uncover some information about the men who were sent to kill his father from there. Upon landing, he quickly learned that it can be difficult being an orphaned Force-sensitive youth in the galaxy. His ship was stolen from him not long after landing and he had to resort to petty crime while hiding in section 1313. During his time on the city-planet, he learned that the conspiracy to kill his father was much deeper than he previously imagined. A secret sect of vengeful Jedi and Rebel soldiers formed "Vengeful Light", their mission, assassinate anyone from the Imperial days that could regain power once again. Michael was strong but he was in over his head, as a 13-year-old he lacked the same sort of training necessary to compete with former Padawans and Knights.

A Master and an Apprentice

One day a 13-year-old Michael ran into a young woman with dark red hair and in the process managed to lift her lightsaber from her. The young woman soon realized what happened and chased after him. Few could match him in athletics but this woman was highly trained and easily caught up with him at a dark alley.

Hey kid, just what do you think you are doing!? The young woman asked with an irritated and angry tone.

The young Michael looked at the lightsaber he managed to steal. You are a Force wielder, aren't you? A Jedi?

"No, not quite a Jedi." The woman responded while trying not to give too much information away. She didn't know why she felt compelled to answer, it was as if the Force led her to this boy.

The young Michael ignited the blade and saw the red hue. "A Sith then!?" The boy's eyes lit up with excitement as his father told him stories about the Imperial war hero Darth Vader.

With a mental command, the blade deactivated and flew back to its owner. "Not entirely. Just who are you?"

"I'm Michael." The boy said.

"Well, Michael, it's not every day that I manage to get my lightsaber taken from me. You are a Force-sensitive yourself aren't you?"

"Yes..."

He learned that her name was Scarlet. The boy then explained to her about his past and current situation and the two bonded. "I'll help you". The woman said. "I don't know if it is a chance coincidence or a guiding from the Force but I have also been looking into this 'Vengeful Light' organization that you speak of."

With both Scarlet Agna and Michael working together the organization was destroyed. Through their adventures, the young Michael grew to respect Scarlet for her mastery of over the Force and skills with a lightsaber. Scarlet also saw potential in the boy and took him under her wing to be trained as an apprentice. Michael also felt that he owed Scarlet a life debt for aiding him in his quest for vengeance.

Philosophy and viewpoint of the Force

As a youth, Michael had a very unique connection with the Force. He saw it mostly as a tool, a means to an end rather than mystical energy that guides his life. Through the stories that his father told him as a youth, he greatly admired the Sith and the Inquisitorious during the time of the Empire. Scarlet had access to both Jedi and Sith teaching with herself identifying as a Force Disciple rather than adhering strictly to one Order or the other. However, to these stories that Michael was told as a child, he gravitated more towards Sith teaching and philosophy; subscribing to the notion that it is through passions and emotions that one gains strength and power. To reflect his adoption of the Sith code he gave himself the name Malevek and joined the Brotherhood with Scarlet in House Shar Dakhan of Clan Naga Sadow.

A different kind of Sith

Intertwined with Sith philosophy are his Obelisk training and beliefs. Malevek strives to be the perfect warrior with strict adherence to honor and discipline, training his body, mind, and soul into a powerful weapon. While training under Scarlet he meditated and focused primarily on the combative applications of the Force and how it could enhance his martial prowess and skill. Under Scarlet's tutelage, he has been quickly learning Juyo and has also meditated on saber fighting holocrons to gain Ataru as a secondary form. His skills grow quickly each day and he may one day surpass his master in both power and rank.

Unlike other Sith, Malevek doesn't believe in killing unless necessary, a similar belief that Scarlet shares with him as well. However, should you incur his wrath, there isn't a place in the galaxy that you can hide from his vengeance.

A fearsome scholar

While Malevek primarily focuses on being a warrior this in no way makes him stupid. Not long after joining the Brotherhood he set it upon himself to acquire all the knowledge and degrees that the Shadow Academy has to offer. Of particular interest to him has been ancient Sith and Obelisk lore as well as the forbidden arts of Sith Alchemy. He hopes to enchant his armor one day using the Force alchemy techniques he learned, becoming that much more powerful as a result. A Krath adherent Sith Arcanist young lady, Tabitha Rau, has taken a fancy to him and his quest for knowledge and power in the Brotherhood. Malevek has also grown to like and respect Tabitha for her depth of knowledge concerning ancient artifacts and lore.

Plans for the future

When Scarlet has completed Malevek's training he intends to buy a ship of his own and explore the galaxy working as a Bounty Hunter and Sith Warrior under the Brotherhood's employ. He has also been thinking of inviting Tabitha Rau to his crew when that time comes, as she is a living encyclopedia of knowledge and practical skills such as piloting, mechanics, astrogation, linguistics, archeology, and more.

Other Personality Traits

Having had no experience growing up in society he can be quite careless with his words, something which often lands him in trouble. Fortunately, his great combative skills and reflexes help him out. While possessing a keen mind that can form plans he tends to prefer to launch right into the fray of battle. Because of this personality trait, some perceive him as nothing more than a warrior or brute. Anyone who has fought in a one versus one duel with him would find that he is a genius when it comes to unarmed and melee combat. His eyes observe the opponent's techniques carefully and he adapts his fighting style to best defeat his opponent. His natural ability to read the body language and kinesthetic movement of his opponents rivals that of the Echani, which is quite impressive for a human.

Physical Description

Malevek is a 25-year-old human male who is very fit and strong through his years of martial arts training on Dagobah. In addition to good genetics, the Force empowered his body from frequent meditations, giving him broad shoulders and a slightly taller and heavier build than the average man, standing in at 1.9 meters (6' 3") and weighs 100 kg. (220 lbs) in muscle. The color of his hair is a dull and wavy sandy blonde that resembles the desert dunes of Tatooine. He keeps his hair short and combed back. A flame of hatred blazes like an inferno in his golden eyes, a fire that the man has nurtured since childhood. His skin is youthful in appearance with a light tan and no scars, which is quite remarkable when considering the amount of danger he has been in. His facial features appear quite handsome for a human male. He used to have a beard but has recently decided to shave it off, not that anyone can tell, he frequently wears a mask to hide his face and protect himself from biological and chemical weapons. His voice is a deep baritone and sometimes gruff depending on his mood. He is frequently seen wearing some kind of combat armor. During his time of hiding, he kept of cloak over his armor to better blend into the crowds.
