Firmus Jeel is one of many starfighter mechanics working for the Arconan Armed Forces. He is notable for the fact that he is the only man that Andrelious J. Inahj will trust to repair his fighter.
Biography
Born in 17ABY in Estle City, Firmus Jeel's childhood was unremarkable. As with many growing up in this secluded corner of the galaxy, Firmus, named after the famous Admiral Firmus Piett, who had once rescued a ship carrying his parents from a group of pirates, wanted to see more of what was out there. Not many came to Selen, but those who did told of both wonders and horrors, from as far away as Coruscant. It was around this time that he began to discover his knack for repairing things, especially ships. This came in useful, and the young Jeel earned a fair few credits repairing damage to both visiting ships, and those that belonged to natives of Selen.
Eventually, the young mechanic graduated with honours from one of the larger schools in Estle City, obtaining qualifications in engineering and ship repair. By now, Clan Arcona had taken the planet over, and were recruiting in all branches of their armed forces. Seeing the opportunity to both expand his knowledge and see more of the galaxy, Jeel applied, becoming one of the many technicians on board the Star Destroyer Eye of the Abyss II.
Over time, Jeel repaired many types of ship, mostly the starfighters attached to the 'Eye'. It was after a battle in 33ABY that he met Andrelious J. Inahj. His ship, the TIE Advanced Sharpshoot, had been damaged and needed repairs. The Battlelord handed it over to lead mechanic Drask Jastan, who immediately passed it to Jeel.
- Jeel: "She's good as new again, sir. Are you sure you don't want a new ship?"
- Andrelious J. Inahj: "No. You've done well. I shall ask for you again when Sharpshoot needs more work"
- ―after the mechanic repaired the Sith's personal ship.
Jastan had hoped that the young Selenian would not repair the ship to Inahj's high standards - Firmus was a threat to his position as head mechanic, as well as his future promotion prospects. If Jeel 'messed up', he'd have found himself reassigned to a much less glamorous part of the fleet, or worse.
However, since the young man did such a good job, he has instead been permanently entrusted with any work that is required when Sharpshoot comes in for repairs.
Profile
Appearance
Looking fairly unkempt, Jeel usually dresses in overalls, as his job dictates. Sporting dark hair and a little stubble, Firmus is often seen smoking a cigarillo as he works, despite attempts to give up. His general unkempt appearance is typical of those in his profession, though it is in sharp contrast to the military appearance of much of the Star Destroyer's crew.
Personality
Jeel is a perfectionist. Since his assignment to the Arconan flagship, he has garnered a reputation as a reliable, if slightly slow mechanic, and will not allow a ship he has repaired out of his care until he is perfectly happy with its condition. He distrusts most of the Dark Jedi, as he has heard stories of what has happened to other mechanics who have failed to please the Arconans themselves. He does, however, feel safe around Andrelious, who has made it clear that no-one other than Firmus is to touch his personal fighter.
