Character History
Eli Naruba was born on Mygeeto, in the city of Jygat. Born into a modest house, Eli began his career as a chartered accountant, working within the fold of the InterGalactic Banking Clan. As an employee of the IGBC, Naruba's work took him across the galaxy and put him in touch with a myriad of bankers and investors. It was these contacts that allowed the Muun to rise steadily though the ranks of IGBC before transferring to the Dressian Kiolsh Merchant Bank on his homeworld of Mygeeto. Within a matter of years, Eli Naruba rose to become Vice President of Interstellar Trading for the bank.
Throughout the war years, Dressian Kiolsh Merchant Bank flourished as a haven for enterprises and companies that wished to hide their assets from the Galactic Empire and avoid it's taxation policies. As VP of Interstellar Trading, Eli Naruba's role was to liquidate the incoming assets, put them on the stock markets and launder money accordingly. Shortly before the fall of the Empire, the ISB estimated that Dressian Kiolsh Merchant Bank had laundered approximately 9 trillion credits for these companies and garnered almost 7% in profit to the credit.
The bank, for the most part, continued it's work and remains highly profitable. However, Eli Naruba's career had touched a glass ceiling. Realizing that he could not go any further within Dressian Kiolsh, Eli Naruba left the bank to set up Naruba Investments, attaching the company to Dressian Kiolsh as a subsidiary. It's products including financing for capital ships, property management, tax consultation and minerals trading. The company worked reasonably well, generating an acceptable amount of profit. In 19ABY, Eli Naruba came in contact with Arcturus Xyler and other representatives from Clan Arcona. The Jedi made their request abundantly clear - cut them into Naruba Investments or perish. Relucantly, Eli Naruba signed over 98% of the company to Clan Arcona. Eli Naruba remained as Chief Financial Officer and is still in the position to this day.
Because of the method used to take control, Eli Naruba is viewed with great suspicion and disdain by the rest of Clan Arcona. In order to further Arcona's grip, Arcturus Xyler arranged for Eli Naruba to be neutered in his executive control of the company and switched the Board of Directors for the Summit of Arcona. Arcturus Xyler remains as Chief Executive, although actual directives and control of the company comes directly from the Clan Summit.
Personality Traits
For someone of such humble origins, Eli Naruba is haughty and arrogant. This makes him incredibly difficult to deal with and was one of the many reasons why his executive control was neutered. Slippery and cunning, he has made an incredible amount of money throughout the years and has a substantial personal fortune. He has entirely forgotten his life on Mygeeto, seeking to improve his status through his own efforts. That said, his greedy nature works well for Clan Arcona; he has generated almost twelve billion credits for them since Arcona took control of the company.
