Cilix is a small moon, orbiting the planet Cogrion, located in the Aliso system. Its surface is covered with a layer of ice that acts as the moon's terrain and encloses its vast, subterranean oceans. With the formation of House Ventress, Cilix became the site of the covert, underwater Azorian Citadel and surface-level Ice Station Zerek.
Description
The moon can most easily be described as an ice-covered wasteland, with nothing of value visible on its desolate, white landscape. Tidal flexing, caused by the moon’s orbit around Cogrion, generates geothermal activity on Cilix that causes the ice layers to shift and move similarly to tectonic plates. This forms a multitude of cracks and striations on the surface, with glacial shelves and crevasses forming where these splits in the ice are deepest. The air on Cilix is essentially unbreathable, as it is too thin to support life and is composed of pure Oxygen, missing the necessary elements to form a Type I atmosphere. The most prominent feature on the unending icescape is Ice Station Zerek, a domed outpost and spaceport that marks the only known vestige of civilization on the frozen moon. This structure acts as an operations hub for mining coaxium on Cilix, but also hides the true purpose of the Azorian Citadel on the ocean floor below.
History
Cilix was rediscovered, along with the rest of the Aliso system, by Clan Plagueis in 34 ABY. Having initially found little to no value on the moon, the Clan largely ignored it while focusing on matters more pressing to their colonization efforts. There was no sign of activity on Cilix from the system’s previous occupation by forces from the Confederacy of Independent Systems. It is largely presumed that the CIS inhabitants of the system found no use in the moon for the duration of their occupation.
Though the Ascendant Clan had initially performed scans of the moon when settling the Aliso system, Cilix was left largely unexplored and underutilized until the formation of House Ventress in 39 ABY. Having discovered the unique geothermal activity caused by Cogrion on the icy satellite, it was decided that Cilix would support initiatives to provide a strategic headquarters for the new House to occupy the edge of the system, providing a strong defensive installation in the far reaches of the system. This initiative led to the construction of the Azorian Citadel on the ocean floor. It was planned and built from the beginning to link with Ice Station Zerek directly above. The station serves as a cover, operating ostensibly as a frontier mining spaceport on the frozen and desolate surface.

Ice Station Zerek is a mining spaceport carved into Cilix's thick surface of mostly solid ice. It is officially operated by Hyperdyne Mining and Hyperdyne Logistics. The main business activity at the station is the export of raw coaxium. It is connected via a long pair of umbilicals tethered to the Azorian Citadel and the deep sea mines below.
Azorian Citadel

The ultra secret House Ventress HQ known as the Azorian Citadel is an underwater base built directly under Ice Station Zerek. It houses several hundred military and staff personnel that oversee Ventressian day to day operations. Currently, it acts in an additional and separate role as the hub for Coaxium ore mining deep in the mantle of the moon. There is also a small coaxium refinery that processes the high grade energy source for Plagueian use.
