―Zasati Tryezsh

Zasati Tryezsh (born 1 ABY), is a Jedi Hunter in House Ektrosis of Clan Taldryan.

History

Early Years

Childhood

Zasati Tryezsh (birth name: Zasha Ti Danidual) was born in 1 ABY on the planet Gallinore in the Hapes Cluster. Her mother, a Hapan named Tryezsha’lin Danidual, was a lead field researcher. Her father, a Human named Tatim Osechal, was her mother’s assistant. She was only with her parents for six short years. As an only child, the young halfling had a relatively normal childhood by the cultural standards of her world. She was raised with strong Hapan values: males were the lesser sex and that no one, not even family, should ever get in the way of one's rise to power.

Near the end of her sixth year, her parents were targeted by the Hapes Consortium for taking part in a firedrake smuggling ring. The Consortium’s eyes and ears were ubiquitous across the Hapes Cluster and it wasn’t long before her parents were imprisoned and executed. She escaped their fate, largely in part to her parents’ foresight. Months prior they had sent her to live with relatives in the Outer Rim Territories.

Zasati lived with her Uncle Theo and his wife, Lotti, and their twelve children in the city of Valentia on the planet Jelucan. The family lived on the outskirts of the city in an impossibly tiny home. Her Aunt was abusive and her Uncle was constantly out of work. As the youngest of the children, she was often teased by her human cousins. However, this did little to bother Zasati. Early on she exhibited a greater maturity than her peers and often tried to pit them against one another when they irritated her.

The Decline

At the age of 15, she found herself homeless where she found work in a dress shop. By the time she was 17, she had become aware that prominent men were willing to give her credits in exchange for her company in both private and social settings. She became a courtesan at The Blue Monk, a high-end bordello, under the tutelage of Madame Ki’nota Siv.

Mark of The Blue Monk

Tryezsha’lin was given the new name, Asivoir, and branded by Madame Ki'nota before she was allowed to work at the bordello. The Madame had an Electrotattoo, in the House Emblem of two twisting lines, surgically branded on her left cheek, forever marking her as property.

At the time, Electrotattoo were an obscure wonder of modern electronics. Almost considered a cybernetic device, it was comprised of two parts. First, a series of tiny optic transceivers, collectively called Nanoink, were surgically inserted under the skin to resemble the desired tattoo. Next, a sensory implant chip was installed within the brain. This allowed the Nanoink optics to communicate with the emotional-interpretation area of the brain. The device monitored chemical changes in order to transmit the proper color sequence to the Nanoink. The colors corresponded to a special code known primarily to Madame Ki’nota and the courtesans of The Blue Monk.

The primary use of the Electrotattoos was to brand property. The secondary use was to expose the slave's true emotions and intentions, in regard to their Owner, and keep them in check.

A Courtesan's Comforts

At the time, Tryezsha’lin was considered to be one of the most adept and attractive courtesans in the area of Valentia.

In her later wanderings, she found that many unwanted annoyances could be avoided by the simple veil.

Escape from Valentia

By the time she turned 20, she had made her way to Skor II and begun her training in the art of the sword. Her master, a Squib trader named Tivsa and was, as most Squibs were, talented at deal-making. He taught the young Hapan the ways of haggling and salvaging. He also suggested that Zasati begin to wear a veil, teaching her that attention to her Mark of Ownership was not something she would enjoy.

Some of the known color meanings include: This means that unfortunately for most, the colors don’t tend to correspond with their commonly associated galactic meanings. For this reason, Zasati doesn’t hide the tattoo. When no strong emotions are present the Nanoink shimmers like black oil on water.

A Courtesan's Comforts

At the time, Tryezsh was considered to be one of the most adept and attractive courtesans in her the area of Valentia. She was a paramour to the noble and wealth men of society there. More educated and charming than the typical light-skirt walking the streets, she charged high dollar and lived in absolutely lavish comfort. Her Sponsor, a Pantoran named Feff Jarrcara, paid top credit to keep her housed and clothed well. In return, she provided him with companionship.

In the 19th century it wasn’t unlikely to hear a courtesan’s name dragged through the gutter and then her lover’s name following it, tarnishing his reputation—and publicly humiliating her.

You must know that there is a difference between a mistress and a courtesan—and that is love. Courtesan sold herself, body and mind, as a career. A mistress gave away her love, and often had children with her lover. Now that’s not to say a courtesan couldn’t become a mistress, but then she wouldn’t be a courtesan anymore.

A courtesan could seduce a man with her mind, her charms, and knew all the latest techniques in bed—sometimes being bold enough to use toys. Commonly a courtesan would go from one lover to the next. The most famous of courtesans came from France and were known as the demi-monde. However, they weren’t necessary born in France. France was much more open about women and sex, than anywhere else.

Tryezsh began her career as a companion to Tsetsiva, a Miralukan courtesan famed for her singing voice. Tryezsh learned the ways of the trade, or she could simply start out as a mistress to a wealthy man, and then moved on. But for most women they realized what they could gain by being a courtesan—freedom. She was free to make her own decisions and not reliant on a husband to tell her what to do. Sure her clients might make demands, but if it became too much she wiped him from her list.

A very successful courtesan could be disgustingly rich—and some even gambled all their money away, or simply lived beyond their means. Because they were so wealthy and had mounds upon mounds of jewels, they often had a body guard or more than one to protect them and their possessions.

A courtesan would have her own suite of apartments or a grand house that she entertained in. And she wouldn’t just entertain clients—she would hold grand parties too. When she began to reach an age where she was no longer a beautiful sight to see, some women still maintained a high volume of clientele, because they were intelligent and engaging. Others didn’t have so much luck and withered into the background. If she didn’t save any money, or had no family to look after her, she would often fall to dire straights, dying poor and sick. Some died in opulence, and even more so ended their careers by getting married.

You will find that some of the famous courtesans of the day wrote memoirs, here’s a list that I enjoyed reading:
