He told Tyren that long ago there was a legend of a great dragon, lord of the universe, who ruled all under his strong grip. The Dragon monks praised this ancient deity. They were not evil, nor were they good, they tended to stay in the balance, attack only if threatened, defend when needed, never to look at the petty affairs of little people, never to engage in someone else's doings. Tyren found what he was looking for, a new beginning. He stayed with the old man and learned from his wisdom. For twelve months he learned, drawing every single word from the old man, soon the day would come when he would show his potential.

"Peace of the inner self can be an ally in times of need. But too much peace can lead you to the light of weakness."
―Elder Dragon Pilgrim

True past of Tyren Atema

Tyren is the quiet type of man. He is calm most of the time, rational in times of pressure yet even he has a dark side that haunts him. He is a divided person, with two very different entities living in him, reason and madness.

Banner of the Atema Family

The Atema Family

Two Jedi knights, Jerreth Atema and Ashira Islana survived the „Order 66“ massacre. Years after the Emperor’s rise they met on a transport ship en route to planet Dantooine where supposedly a small community of Jedi hid from the Emperor’s wrath.

When they came to Dantooine they found the enclave in ruins, dozens of Jedi slaughtered with but a few survivors. In the midst of the carnage they stood tall and held on to each other for strength.

Eventually falling in love they wowed to rebuild the enclave and open its doors to other refugees and Jedi. With the help of a CorSec agent, a Republic loyalist and Jedi admirer, who helped the enclave with supplies and machinery, they rebuilt it in some of the many caverns on the planet. It was meant to be a safe haven for those that fled the Empire thus it now had a name, “The Sanctuary”.

After the sanctuaries completion Jerreth and Ashira married becoming a beacon of light and hope for not only the people in the Sanctuary itself but for all the people of Dantooine as well.

Birth of Twins

Not long after the wedding Ashira got pregnant. Nine months later se gave birth to two twin boys. Their coming to the galaxy was not only joyful for their parents but also for the whole Sanctuary.

Each boy was unique in the Force; their names, Ylith and Tyren Atema.

The two grew up in a peaceful and Force active society the Sanctuary offered.

Brothers by blood

Ylith was older, very active, always in search of adventure and danger. Tyren, the younger, was, however, very different from his older brother. He learned a meditation of sorts at a very early age and thus was more active in views of the Force. He stood by his father mostly, staying in silence while Jerreth spoke of great Jedi deeds and the philosophy of good.

Very early in his life Tyren utilized his Force abilities to do minor tricks, like lifting small objects or creating sparks, at his will. That gave birth to a sort of jealousy in his brother’s eyes, but even that difference couldn’t keep them apart. The boys became best friends, inseparable, one aiding to the other what the other did not have.

Their parents thought them the meaning of good and evil and how to evade evil as best they can. Though they tried to understand this they could not, so they continued their childish, sometimes evil games. Jerreth and Ashira both sensed the boy’s slight affinity toward the Dark Side of the Force. This worried them greatly for they wished to teach their children the ways of the Jedi.

Ylith was the one that mostly go into trouble, Tyren however was the troublemaker. While he loved to make trouble happen to his older brother he was always there to help him out if the situation got out of hand.

Tyren’s intellect and agility were his strong side. He dodged trouble rather than faced it. He had brains his brother had brawns so they both grew up side by side, helping one another in times of need.

Past divided

Three years into the new era, after the glorious victory of the Rebellion at Yavin, four years after the twins’ birth, the Sanctuary was attacked. The Empire raided the enclave killing anyone they could, with no sufficient weapons to protect themselves the people of the Sanctuary ran.

They tried to escape the planet on the same transport that brought Jerreth and Ashira to it years ago. Though the ship was sturdy and well built, with good reinforced armor and shields, it could not stand the salvo upon salvo of laser fire form the force of TIE-fighters unleashed upon it. It blew up just outside Dantooine’s atmosphere leaving a few escape pods in space. Hundreds died in the raid and sadness crept over the survivors.

The Atema’s lived, though, but got separated in the chaos. Ylith was with his father while Ashira took Tyren. Although they were in different escape pods, the Atemas hoped for reunion. The explosion of another escape pod shattered that hope into pieces. Thinking that their loved ones are dead, Ashira took Tyren and roamed the galaxy in search of a place to hide.

They hid on Coruscant, the heart of the galaxy, with a black hole in their hearts. A black hole that would not be filled until the day of reunion.

Coruscant

The most unobvious place for a Jedi to go hide was Coruscant, every single Jedi in the galaxy knew that, Ashira however did just that. She fled to Coruscant with Tyren under her wing. They hid in the city slums below the shroud of smog. She was certain that beeing near the enemy would keep them out of harms way since the last place to look for Jedi would be Coruscant. She was dead wrong and she paid it with her life. One night a squad of stormtroopers came into Ashiras sanctuary killing her in her sleep. Of Tyren however they found no sign. He had ran of that night to his friends house against the wishes of his mother. That childish decision saved his life. He was raised by Jatarra Dumash for the rest of his life on Coruscant. Jatarra was a shop keeper in the slums, very well known to the populace, and thus Tyren lived his life on.

Eden

When Tyren was a teenager Jatarra died of a disease that swept the slums like a plague. Tyren fled of world to a planet on the edges of the Deep Core, Eden. There he lived a solitary life, expanding his view of the Force. He never learned to properly use it but still he had a knack for the unnatural. One day Tyren climbed a steep cliff in search of food. Finding a birds nest he took the eggs, unbeknownst of the nest’s owner. When the bird returned it attacked Tyren so suddenly that it left him out of balance and grip. Tyren fell hitting the ground with such force tat he was left unconscious instantly. When he woke up he could remember none of his true past but instead thought himself to be older and wiser. The loneliness of his out-of-the-way home left him mad. One day he went to the nearest village he could find in search of company but stories of a "madman from the mountains" spread like a plague throughout the land. This angered Tyren very, he killed every villager he could find therefore turning to the Dark path forever. He went on, killing every being he could find, until one day a Rogue Jedi who hid on Byss came to find Tyren and end his senseless onslaught of innocents. They dueled and Tyren fought bravely and hard but the Jedi was too much. At the moment Tyren thought he would see his death another option flew through his mind, he focused on the Force and with great effort and energy struck the Jedi with a pure lightning bolt. The Jedi was unprepared for the attack and had no way to defend himself, he was dead. Although the shear enormity of Force that he used fatigued him greatly. Tyren somehow found his way to a village, took a mount and headed off. Days later he found an old Rebel base and an X-wing in it. He and flew out of Eden. Somewhere in hyperspace he passed out only to wake up in a bacta tank on The Sword's Sheath, a Gladius controlled battle station in the Yridia system. There he was accepted, he was helped and there he swore to help the Dark Brotherhood destroy the Jedi.

History of Voron Tess

Voron Tess is Tyren`s alter ego, his dark side, the madness within him.

Birth

Voron Tess isn’t a Force spirit who claimed a young man’s body, quite the contrary. He was created in Tyrens mind the day Tyren fell of the cliff in Eden. On that faithful day Tyren`s mind went upside-down and created an illusionary past and an entity inside Tyren. This entity will later be known as Voron Tess. Tyren`s mind created the past of Voron Tess from the stories he had heard about the Jedi and their destruction so fictionally Voron was born 34 BBY on Coruscant in a family of politicians. His father worked as a diplomat and as a negotiator for the Clone armies later during the Clone Wars, his mother was a shield maiden of Senator Lexi Dio, a Loyalist Senator close to the office of Supreme Chancellor Palpatine, who represented the world of Uyter. As a baby Voron was taken away from home into the Jedi Temple. There he trained all his youth to the ways of the Force and the life of a Jedi. He was thought great discipline and patience yet the effects of his youth and the naive mind he had left him confused by the teaching of the Dark Side.

The time of fall

During the final days of the Republic, when Vader destroyed the Temple, Voron was away on the field, fighting the War in the Outer Rim on planet Murkhana in the search for General Greivous. Fortunately for him he wasn’t in the midst of battle when Palpatine executed Order 66 so he was able to defeat the troopers who turned against him. Left alone on the planet and quite sure the troops turned against his master Saras Loorne and the other Jedi Voron tried to find ways to escape. Somehow he managed to take a transport from a low-guarded troop facility and escape the planet. Voron in himself was always on the border between Light and Dark, and the day would come when one of the two would prevail.

Adulthood

After the Great Jedi Purge he hid on the planet Eden. After 34 years the loneliness of his home drove him near-mad. In this time Tyren, who created Voron in his mind was already on Eden and already he was amnesic. He had forgotten his true past and embraced a past that never existed. Further history of Voron Tess is the same as Tyren’s.

Anger and madness

Voron is Tyren`s personification of anger, hatred. Voron "takes over" Tyren only when the Dark Jedi becomes mad with anger, so much that he cannot control the urge. On his pilgrimage he learned to control this mad anger to a certain extent to prevent Voron from claiming his mind.

History in The Dark Jedi Brotherhood

Tarentum

Gladius

"Welcome to The Sword's Sheath!" Frosty Romanae said in his low Deshade voice.

"Thank you!" Tyren replied.

"You will be assigned your own quarters, where you can meditate and explore your potential and a flight deck for your X-wing where you can inspect your craft whenever you wish."

"Fine by me."

"You are one of us now, one of our brothers and as such we will help you achieve your highest potential. Welcome to Gladius of Tarentum, brother."

During his stay in Gladius, Tyren met a lot of people who were willing to help him and he has flourished. There he was accepted and he accepted in turn. In his short, but useful stay in Tarentum, Tyren was assigned to Dox Romanae, than a Dark Jedi Knight, who thought Tyren a lot about the Brotherhood and its ways. Even more did Zin learn from Dox`s brother Frosty who, from the very first day, helped Tyren advance through the ranks. Once Tyren became a Guardian he left Tarentum and the Dark Jedi Brotherhood for a year. This period in his life is called "The Pilgrimage"

The Pilgrimage

File:Pilgirmage.jpg

During his time away from the Brotherhood and its affairs Tyren Zin traveled the galaxy in search of "another self". From the wasted of Tattooine to the home of the Witches of Dathomyr he traveled to find his new self. In the Brotherhood he was becoming reckless, disobedient and for that he left, to change. So he did. Not long into his journey Tyren found an old Pilgrim, The Dragon pilgrim they called him, on an out-of-the-way world in the Outer Rim, he was the last of his order. As a final test of what he learned, Tyren was to defeat a Kryatt dragon, a race of giant lizards that lived on the planet. Tyren meditated for two full days, gathering his strength for the upcoming ordeal, finally he was ready. The battle lasted, what for Tyren seemed an eternity, but in the end he succeeded in his goal, the lizard was exhausted. With the last string of strength Tyren took his katana blade jumped high above the lizards head and pierced the dragons skull silencing it forever. "Ryuujin", The Dragon, The Dragon Pilgrim, that’s the name he obtained after his battle. He stayed with the old man until his end. With the old mans death Tyren had nothing to look for on the planet, he left and finding this inner peace, a new self, a new name he returned to the Brotherhood.

The return of the Dragon

Plagueis

When returning to the Brotherhood, Ryuujin did not go back to Tarentum but instead eager to learn about other clans came to House Exar Kun of Clan Plagueis. In hopes of a new beginning and the continuing of his training he asked for a master. Sith Battlelord Salth Khan replied to the request and took Tyren under his wing. Hoping to learn more from his new master Ryuujin accepted and thus became one of the brothers again....

Revelations

While looking for a training room on Antei Tyren came by his old Seargent and mentor, Ylith, or Draken how he’s called now. He asked Draken to help him with the nightmares he’s been having hoping that maybe Draken, being very old could answer what the dreams meant. In the nightmares Tyren saw a woman, two twin boys playing in a yard and divided in times of war. Though Draken didnt know anything about such a thing, Ylith's memories did. Told as a story often by his foster family, Ylith has heard the same story over and over again in his youth, knowing it was something he wasn't meant to forget.

Both Draken and Tyren investigated this occurrence and even underwent a DNA test to see if they were family. The DNA of both Ylith and Tyren matched perfectly, even so perfectly that they were considered twin brothers.

Tyren first had trouble believing this story. Since Ylith was considered years younger than Tyren. But the DNA test showed that in fact, Tyren was younger than Ylith and in search for answers, memories of the tragic accident on Eden unfolded into Tyren's mind.

Quest for knowledge

In the wake of their shocking revelation the two brothers went on a quest to discover their forgotten and hidden past. They roamed the galaxy for clues on where to look, the search eventually led them to Dantooine where they found the shattered Sanctuary. In the rubble they found a holocron that recorded the marriage of Jerreth and Ashira. Amongst the data they found a holovid of their birth, of them playing in the garden, a crest of the Atemas and the vile attack on the Sanctuary.

Now the two Sith understood their past. They placed their family’s banner near the ruins, in remembrance of their parents. Although Jerreth and Ashira were Jedi and their sons Sith their will and wish to save their children was cause enough to remember them.

The two twin brothers agreed they would bare their true names and never bring dishonor to it.

Markings

The Dragon tattoo

File:Tattoo.jpg
Ryuujin`s Dragon tattoo

Covering his whole back, neck to hips, and his arms and legs is a tattoo of a dragon, representing much-less the same thing as the banner, the dragon spirit and the serenity of the soul. It was drawn by the Elder Dragon pilgrim via ancient methods. Various plants give nectar that can be used as paint. This "paint" is sucked in by the skin and stays there forever. It cannot be washed away only medically removed with the skin.

The banner

On the warbanner Ryuujin has in the Brotherhood the dragon figure represents the Great dragon, the text is written in a forgotten tongue: "Fear the Great Dragon. Keeper of The balance. Creator of all." The Herald`s logo in the background represents his loyalty to the Herald.

"Ryuujin noroi"

File:Ryuujinnoroi.jpg
Ryuujin`s katana

The Ryuujin noroi is a katana sword created by Tyren himself on his Pilgrimage, it has ancient runes inscribed on the blade that write "Spirit of a dragon". It was alchemically treated by his teacher, the elder Dragon Pilgrim, so that the runes glow a feint yellow at all times. It also has the ability to withstand high pressure and breaking force like rocks or other metallic objects. Against a lightsaber it is, a most weapons, useless. It is an elegant weapon of choice. It represents the warrior in every soul. For Ryuujin its something more, it is a bridge to his soul, to his inner self. In it’s reflections he can see the battle inside him swirl and with its help he can remain at peace in any moment. (The name means: Dragon curse)

T-65 X-wing

File:X Wing.jpg
Ryuujin`s X-wing

Tyren acquired his X-wing before he joined the Brotherhood. He stole it from a Rebel base. The X-Wing also had an R2 unit attached to it when it was stolen. Later on Tyren colored it almost jet black, added better engines, a better hull, new lasers and an improved Shield generator. The ship holds scars of many dogfights and bears the imprints of many ships that were destroyed by its owner.

Faith

Ryuujinshuukyou

This is a religion very little known to the common folk of the galaxy. It literally means Dragon religion or Dragon faith. It began aprox 3000 y. BBY when a Force sensitive monk from the Outer rim started preaching of an ancient dragon that creates, guides and controls the universe with a metal fist. After years of preaching and being banished from one planet to the other, it finally came to pass that a small band of people believed him and followed in his tracks. The religion has not grown much nor did its influence but its order of monks was a powerful yet concealed force. To this day only one is left, Tyren "Ryuujin" Zin.
