Early Life

Thomatrov Hughes was born just outside of Estle City, the middle child, with one older sister and one younger sister. Hughes father was a pirate, and his mother had been a native Selenian. She had traveled with him for a while, but after giving birth to her first daughter she settled down at home again. His father had no interest in that life, and only visited Selen periodically (leaving Mrs. Hughes with another child each time).

In 21 ABY at the age of 18, Hughes was shipped off to officer’s academy by his mother, who wanted to keep him away from becoming a pirate like his father. Hughes came to love the military, devoting himself to his studies at graduating at the age of 22, in 25 ABY.

Early Days in the Force

Hughes had to work his way up quite a bit in Division III, starting out in the 7th Skirmishing Infantry Brigade. He was serving as regimental commander when the Yuuzhan Vong invasion took place, but was promoted to commander of the 7th after quite a few officers were killed in the heat of battle.

Clan Arcona was short on military talent, so there were a lot of young officers in the military following the Eighth Great Jedi War. Hughes was one of them, only 25 when he was made commander of the 7th. Hughes was not taken aboard the fleet when they retreated from Dajorra, and he was left to fight the Vong on Selen.

Division Commander

It was early 29 ABY when Hughes was made Division Commander of the III. The previous officer had recently stepped down, unable to take the pressure of keeping up the resistance movement. So, he turned it over to Hughes, who was eager to take up the fight against the tyrants.

For a while, the remaining soldiers of the Dajorra Defense Force locked themselves up inside the Citadel, turning back Vong for nearly a month. However, the enemy was simply too overwhelming, and Hughes led the troops on a desperate attack to push the Vong back, and go into hiding on Selen.

They set up a small base outside Estle City, staging relentless raids and guerrilla attacks against the Yuuzhan Vong outposts, slowing their terraforming and giving their leaders quite a headache. The Division numbers dwindled, but Hughes’ tactics were just conservative enough to insure the lives of the majority of the Arconan troopers, awaiting the return of the fleet to drive back the tyrants.

Personality

Hughes has matured since becoming the leader of the resistance movement on Selen, caring for his loyal troopers and harsh on deserters and traitors. He is hopeful for the return of the Arconan Fleet, and determined not to give up, to keep harrying the Yuuzhan Vong until that time.
