Upon joining House Tarentum, you have the option of becoming part of the Master/Student Program. The Master/Student Program pairs you with a Master, who will be your best friend and mentor as they guide you through the trials that lay ahead towards becoming a full-fledged Dark Jedi Knight. Masters play a part in every aspect of your training, from the very beginning all the way through until the Trials of Knighthood that all Dark Jedi must take and successfully complete in order to become a Knight. Though it is not required that you have a Master, it is highly recommended you take part in the Program due to being able to learn from some of the best and craft your knowledge and skills from the very beginning. If you are interested in participating in the Master/Student Program, feel free to contact either one of the Program Directors listed below.

Introduction to the Master/Student Program

The Tarentum Master/Student Program has undergone tremendous changes, being fully redesigned from the ground up to better facilitate and maintain a presence between a Master and their Student. Designed to serve new members incoming to Tarentum, as well as any member below the rank of Dark Jedi Knight, the MSP serves as an individual training center with a Master guiding and assisting their apprentice as they progress towards Dark Jedi Knight.

"Two there should be; no more, no less. One to embody power, the other to crave it." ―Darth Bane

To better maintain this, the pairing of Master and Student is limited to "two": a Master and an Apprentice, with each pairing being permanent except through extreme circumstance or if the Master or the Apprentice goes inactive for an extended period of time. The Rule of Two can be bypassed with approval of both Program Directors and the House Quaestor.

Becoming a Master/Student

The Bond between Master and Apprentice is sacred.

In order to be officially paired as a Master and Apprentice, an email message must be sent to both Program Directors by both the Master and the Apprentice declaring the intent to become united under the Rule of Two. Remember to decide carefully, again, as the pairing is permanent until graduation or through an approved reason.

Guidelines & Expectations

Though most of the Promotion Guidelines are set in stone, Masters may choose to add additional requirements to each rank or change certain requirements to others.

Every Master is different in their methodology and style of mentoring, and no two Pairings are ever the same. Outside of the Guidelines/Expectations below, many of the required expectations will come from your Master directly.

As you progress through the program, you will be able to fill out a ‘’’Record’’’ sheet detailing your experience with your Master, how you feel you are progressing, and what can be done to make your experience a better one if it is not satisfying to you at the time. Apprentices will fill out a record sheet on a ‘’’Bi-Weekly’’’ basis while ‘’’Masters’’’ will fill out his or her own version each week.

Compendium of the Brotherhood

During the first steps of your journey, the recently created Compendium of the Brotherhood will prove to be an extremely valuable resource to you as it gives in detail each area and activity of the Brotherhood.

It is suggested that you bookmark that page, since you will be referencing it moderately often until you are comfortable with the setup of the Brotherhood.

Master/Student Records

Once paired, an official Record will be kept by the Program Directors on each Master/Student Pairing detailing the progress of the Apprentice through the Apprentice's eyes, as well as the Masters. This Record will remain confidential to each exclusive Student and Master and will be destroyed upon Graduation. It is meant to serve only as a guide to monitor progress - and in the event a Master or Student disappears - to become a guide for a new Master to see where the Apprentice stands in their knowledge.

In the event of a Master or Student Infraction, be it plagiarism or falsification, the records can and will be released to the Chamber of Justice at their request during an Investigation.

Plagiarism/Falsification

Two things are frowned upon within the Master/Student Program, and an infraction in either one can and will result in Disciplinary Action from the Chamber of Justice.

Plagiarism is the stealing of another's work or effort to pass off as your own without credit. However, credit itself does not count since all works presented through this program are required to be of your own creation.

Falsification is the deliberate and intented act of attempting to bypass a requirement through illicit means;,claiming it has been completed or is done when it has not been.

Program Directors may at any time during a Master/Student Pairing request verification of Requirement Completion should they suspect foul play may be involved.

Apprentice Guidelines

Serving as an Apprentice to a Master, there are specific guidelines that it is asked you follow for both courtesy and getting to know your Master better.

  • 1. Apprentices shall maintain regular communication with their Master. (Email, IRC, Messenger, etc.)
  • 2. Apprentices shall fufill the tasks set before them by their Master within a pre-defined time limit if applicable.
  • 3. Apprentices shall remain active within their House to ensure growing relations with other members and leaders and ensure regular progression through the ranks. (Yes, House Participation is a requirement for each promotion.)
  • 4. Apprentices on a Bi-Weekly Basis shall submit a pre-drawn report to the Program Directors covering their progress, enjoyment level, things they like/dislike, as well as any concerns they may have with the Program, Members, or their Master. These Reports will be Student-Only Confidencial.

Master Guidelines

  • 1. Masters shall be an active member of the Brotherhood as a whole and within Tarentum.
  • 2. Masters shall be a Role Model for their Apprentice and keep any disputes or disagreements private. (Email, IRC Private Message, etc.)
  • 3. Masters shall be responsible for explaining/identifying the rules of the Brotherhood and Tarentum and teaching them to their Apprentice.
  • 4. Masters shall strive to keep their student active, involved, and engaged in the Brotherhood as long as it does not interfere or conflict with real life matters for either the Master or the Student.
  • 5. Masters shall be the one to initiate the Trials of Knighthood once their Apprentice has reached the rank of Jedi Hunter. The Program Directors or House Leaders may advise for or against the Trials depending on the Apprentice's Records.
  • 6. Upon entering the Trials of Knighthood, Masters shall be the one to announce the Trials to the Apprentice, starting with a short fictional entry concerning the start and initiation of the Trials at which point the Student will take over without assistance or guidance from their Master.
  • 7. Masters may develop a special training program for their Apprentice, including setting specific goals for advancement. Special Programs and/or Goals should be relayed to the Program Directors during the start of the current rank phase so records can be updated.
  • 8. An Apprentice has the right to break the Pairing if they feel that their Master is performing inadequitely, has disappeared, or has caused problems.
  • 9. Masters shall submit on a weekly basis a pre-drawn report to the Program Directors detailing the Apprentice's Progress, Promotion Requirements Completed, and anything else they feel should be declared onto the Apprentice's Record.

Promotion

Once the Promotion Requirements are completed, an email should be sent to the Program Directors with a listing of the requirements that the Apprentice has completed, as well as hyperlinks for verification. (Hyperlinks are not required, but will make the Promotion Verification faster and easier.)

Upon verification by the Program Directors, a Promotion Request will be submitted on behalf of the Apprentice and upon approval. Their Record will be updated to reflect the next rank's promotion requirements and work may begin immediately. Completion of work for the next rank prior to promotion approval is not allowed.

A full listing of the requirements can be found in the link at the beginning of this section.
