== History - Dathomir: Before the Brotherhood ==
Mirus is from the planet Dathomir, born to a small, family-based clan of witches. He is the son of a Priestess named Lauda, a slave named Sanies who raised him and taught him the basics of combat and twin to his sister Mira. He is also the grandson of the clan's Superior Mother, named Petra, who was a Sith Mistress for quite some time, living for thousands of years thanks to her blending of her native Dathomiri magics and the Sith arts.
Mirus was born in the year 9 ABY to Lauda Cavataio and Sanies Robur, a priestess of Dathomir and a slave of the Morte Clan. The Morte clan, while not the most dominant of clans, was still a definite presence on the planet of Dathomir, led by a Superior Mother named Petra Cavataio (convenient that she was Mirus' grandmother). Petra Cavataio was an ancient Sith witch. Some say she lived for thousands of years with a combination of the Dathomiri and Sith arts, but those who asked tended not to survive the encounter. Mirus also had a twin sister named Mira and an adopted sister, one year younger, named La'Ca. They lived in the Morte Clan's stronghold, built into the side of a mountain, near the Dreaming River.

It was the latter that Mirus took more of an interest in as he grew, eschewing the native Witch magic and preferring the darker Sith arts that his grandmother studied despite her hatred of the twins. He used that hatred as a test; surviving the wrath of a Sith Mistress was not a particularly easy thing to do. Instead, he used his time at the clan stronghold, built into the side of a mountain, to begin honing himself for his eventual departure of the planet. She would not teach him the Sith arts and his mother insisted that he learn Dathomiri magic.
Dathomiri culture, epsecially that of the Morte clan, was a total matriarchy. Men were no better than slaves, even when born into a position of power, as Mirus was. His father, the slave, belonged to the Superior Mother and was typically away from his children for long spans of time. However, the times that Mirus and his father got to spend together were extremely important to Mirus; it was Sanies that taught him how to fight with a sword, how to hunt, to fish, to live off the land. Sanies had been a hunter and tracker from nearby Bandomeer before his capture and enslavement. This gave Mirus something of a purpose, even from an early age. While his sisters took after their mother and learned the Dathomiri magics, Mirus preferred combat, the outdoors and getting into a situation himself.

At the age of twenty-five Mirus left his home world of Dathomir to explore the Galaxy and learn more about the Dark Side of the Force. While his mother complained, his father in his own quiet way supported his son and helped him get off the planet. This allowed him two years to begin roaming and learning, studying the Galaxy as much as he could (beyond his already considerable studies) and eventually coming across the Dark Jedi Brotherhood and its Sith Order. Very gladly he submitted himself to their teachings, hoping to learn as much as he possibly could about their ways.
Yet, he knew that something was different. They knew that Petra had studied Sith arts. Out of the three children, Mirus was the only one truly curious as to its nature. As he grew older, he asked more and more questions of his grandmother, who grew to loathe him more and more for his inquisitive nature.  He wanted to know what the Sith were, which she told him. But she would never, ever, ever reveal any of the secrets that the Sith held. This was not a situation he could abide. He wanted to know those secrets, at any cost-- even trying to sneak into the Library of Scrolls to find something, earning three whole days of torture in the stronghold's dungeons. It set in him a burning desire and aspiration of learning those secrets, the secrets to the supposed ultimate power his grandmother wielded.

As his twenty-fifth birthday approached, Mirus had a choice: he could stay on the planet with his mother, father and sisters, staying in the Dathomiri life with the aspiration of perhaps one day becoming a general of sorts for his Clan. Or, he could risk everything and leave the planet in hopes of finding some trace of the Sith and learning their arts from them. He chose the latter and, despite a complete denial and pleading from his sisters and mother not to leave, he did so on a freighter bringing supplies and slaves to the planet. He was left out in the wide Galaxy, with barely any money, the clothes on his back, a very vague notion that he could control the Force and the need to achieve his one goal.

It took two long years of searching the Galaxy before there were any results. Underground networks, black markets and deathly spacer's rumours led him to one place: the Dark Jedi Brotherhood. Rumour had it that they were seeking fresh Force-sensitive blood to corrupt to the Dark Side. Mirus didn't care about Light or Dark. He cared about his own ambition. He was a smart enough kid, blessed with intellect and drive, but knew that if he threw himself completely at his quest without losing himself, he would succeed through charisma, guile and brute strength at the right time.

Soon enough, he was preparing himself for the first step on the path of the Brotherhood: the Test of Lore.

The Morte clan, while not the most dominant of clans, was still a definite presence on the planet of Dathomir, led by a Superior Mother named Petra Cavataio (convenient that she was Mirus' grandmother).
