Commander Irys Hoarth is the Bothan Executive Officer aboard the BAC Darkest Night, born and raised on Bothawui. He left his home world becoming a smuggler, eventually ending up on Port Ov’al before joining the Arcona Expeditionary Force.

History

Irys was born Irys Wist'bun on Bothawui, his family was small consisting of him and a older brother. With ties to the Bothan Spynet, his father and older brother worked as spies passing information to the Republic. Irys’ life was planned out for him, his father setting up his place inside the organisation while he was still a child, however Irys didn’t see the personal gain in this. He got into petty crime, first shoplifting and selling goods on the black market. His parents disagreed with his choice of life cast him out of his clan and family. Left to fend for himself, Irys thrived on the independence, setting up a small black market business and earning enough money to purchase a vessel and a small crew.

Irys set off to seek his fortune, leaving his home world and changing his name. He set out on his new path as a small time smuggler and weapons dealer, often shipping goods from Republic space to the Brotherhood’s planets, more importantly those of Clan Arcona. He soon came to settle on Port Ol'val, finding himself at home amongst the criminal underworld that inhabited the Port. With his skills both as a smuggler and a pilot, and his eye of military strategies, he soon caught the attention of the Arcona Expeditionary Force. After some time of persuasion and the right application of credits, Irys joined the military showing aptitude in command as well as piloting. Due to his vast knowledge of Bothan craft, he soon found himself on the bridge of the Darkest Night. His first position was the Chief Engineer slowly moving up the ranks to his new station as Executive Officer.

Personality

Irys’ name means ‘clever and quick-witted’ which he certainly lives up to, his humor can sometimes be dry and often insulting. His demeanor isn’t that of your typical officer, he isn’t well versed in the etiquette of officers and his vocabulary and mannerisms do not always reflect his intelligence. When angered or annoyed he often shouts obscenities in his native tongue of Bothese.

Appearance

Commander Irys Hoarth is not an intimidating man to look at, he stands at 5ft 3 inches, having most of the crew standing above him. His voice is loud and booming mainly to make up for his height. Despite his gruff demeanor, Irys takes great care in his appearance, the sandy brown fur around his face and his hair is brushed down flat, framing his face. Although his stature is small, his presence is threatening nonetheless. Though no-one knows if this is due to the stereotypes of his species or his reputation.
