Heavy Infantry

Heavy Infantry
Heavy Infantry

The Heavy Infantry units are something of a rarity in Arcona’s armed forces, numbering just over 20000 and as such are considered specialist forces. More heavily armoured than the Skirmishing Infantry and more heavily armed, they pay the price by having limited mobility and as such are used primarily as defensive units rather than assault or attack units.

History

The Heavy Infantry Brigades saw extensive service in the defense of the Dajorra System from both the Hutt Invasion force and subsequently the Yuuzhan Vong invasion. The Citadel Guard are also drawn from elements of the Heavy Infantry ranks.

Deployment

Typically, the majority of Heavy Infantry units have been assigned to high-priority assets to the clan that require substantial defense in an urban environment. As such, The Heavy Infantry brigades are stationed only on Selen and Eldar.

Equipment

The Heavy Infantry are given full suits of durasteel armor that over their shoulders, torso, forearms, crotch, thighs and feet. The armor is typically colored a dark grey with a matte black bodysuit underneath and a fully covering helmet with blast shield. The armor plating is also thicker than usual, limiting their agility and fleet of foot. As expected for Heavy Infantry, they carry a substantial armament. Each Troop is assigned a DL-44 Heavy Blaster Pistol, a DLT-19 Heavy Blaster Rifle and an ordinance package of 5 fragmentation grenades, 5 flash-bang grenades and 3 proton charges. Also, as standard for each platoon there are no less than 4 E-Web cannons (each requiring two to crew) 4 Plex Troops equipped with PLX-2M missile launchers, 4 Concussion Troops equipped with LJ-50 Concussion Rifles, 6 grenade mortar units (each requiring a crew of two) and a pair of bomb specialists that are experts in structural demolition and the disarming of large incendiary devices.
