The Excidium Mission Board (EMB) is a system established by the bounty hunter Bale Andros in 37 ABY during his tenure at the head of House Excidium. It was a system created to provide clan operatives with regular, coherent, and freeform access to a list of available mission contracts and potential leads. Though clandestine in nature, these missions were made available to operatives of both house Imperium and Excidium looking to earn an extra payday.

The Goal

Disclaimer: The following is out of character information pertaining to the purpose of the EMB.

The EMB, in its current (trial) state, exists to offer regular, casual access to fun, freeform, mission-based prompts for members of Clan Scholae Palatinae reflecting the clandestine nature of House Excidium. It is our philosophy that CSP members should always have an opportunity to earn rewards and progress within the society of their choosing. As such, our aim is to ensure a regular flow of ‘’fun,’’ story-centric competitions to tackle.

The mission board will (for the time being) include prompts for art, solo fiction, and team/run-on fiction. With time, we endeavor to add more variety to the EMB, including gaming.

One key feature of the EMB is the continued flow of new missions. As members participate and complete [EMB] competitions, new ones will be opened to supply the demand. This ensures that those members who have completed ‘’all’’ previously available prompts enjoy new options, while members uninspired by previous prompts have something new to stimulate them. This concept may and likely will be revised/fleshed out as the EMB is put through trial and duress.

The Prompts

Prompts for the EMB will be released as regular competitions prefixed with [EMB] and run for a set period of time. Art and solo fiction will see a duration of one month, while team fiction will run for two. Each prompt is written to represent a mission briefing, giving members a brief backstory, a location, and a specific task that will form the core of the competition.

In fiction competitions, members are to write a story featuring either their main or alternative character as they complete the task at hand and may include any NPC they desire. In addition, they may include the characters of fellow members where applicable. Please note that mission success is not required. Participants should feel free to write the outcome that best suits their story. Sometimes, failure is more interesting than success.

Art competitions are loose by definition. A participant is to infer what they should draw from the mission briefing at hand, and are free to draw anything from a singular item to a complete scene featuring characters as they see fit.

Some prompts may provide the names of existing characters, locations, or items found within the canon Star Wars universe. For the ease of access and research, these existing locations will always offer a link to a wiki article offering information on the subject. In turn, characters and locations that do not offer a link have been made up for the purpose of the prompt and present a blank canvas for the writer. If, for example, a target’s name is mentioned but no information was given concerning their race, a participant is free to fill in the gap with the race of their choosing.

The Codes

Each mission prompt is marked with a color code. These codes offer a general guideline as to the way an operative is expected to approach the task. These are intended as a guide, as flavor, but are no more than a suggestion. With the exception of codes Red and Gold, they are not a requirement.

Red and Gold requirements should be acknowledged in your stories as they represent a sense of urgency or a specific goal that must be met for mission success.

  • Orange - Aggressive force recommended (Assault)
  • Black - Covert approach recommended (Stealth)
  • Blue - Exploration recommended (Reconnaissance)
  • Purple - Academics recommended (Research)
  • Green - Diplomacy recommended (Social)
  • Red - Rapid intervention required (Speed)
  • Gold - Extraction required (Extraction)

The Rules

Please refer to the “Prompt” and “Codes” section above for the interpretation of EMB prompts. A specific set of rules will be supplied with each separate competition.
