Situated south of the main equatorial region of the planet’s largest continent lies a range of mountains and hilly terrain known as the Venku Range. While the majority of Arconae Primus is covered in swamps and jungles, the Venku Range is peculiar in that it comprises mainly of conifers and rainforest (however in the lowland valley there is a large swamp area surrounding a river, and it is rumored that a nest of Krite reside there). Dotted amongst the rainforest are large swathes of mountainside that are mainly grassy meadows. There are two large structures in the Venku range – the first being a large quarry that has been mined to its full extent (with a complex series of tunnels and caverns in and around the surrounding area) and the second being a set of ruins from long before Arcona settled in the system.
Family Homesteads
It is here that the Erinos Clan call home. Situated in the clearings are numerous camouflaged homesteads belonging to the various families of Mandalorians with grass roofs and slit-windows to minimize light emissions. Circular in nature, the homesteads usually have a central atrium with a corridor ringing it, and from there branch off various other rooms. The exterior appears to be made up of wooden logs, however, a closer inspection will reveal a layer of ferrocrete at least a meter thick making up the true walls of the main buildings. Unspottable from the sky, they nestle into the hillside seamlessly, and even the more agriculturally minded Mandalorians have thought about disguising their homes by making sure the grain they grow for breads are the same color as the native long grasses. The homesteads are relatively similar, most including a kitchen, a ‘fresher, a number of bedrooms, a pantry, an armory and a speeder garage. Other houses often include machine shops, small smithies or even holding cells. Dirt tracks connect the houses to one another across the Venku Range, and all terrain landspeeders are the transport method of choice to get about the mountainsides.
Quarry
The Quarry, its resources spent, now serves an entirely different purpose. As it has the most uninterrupted even land, it has been refitted to serve as a makeshift spaceport, though calling it a port is a gross exaggeration. Floodlights allow the approaching ships to see the several pads, and some of the larger caves have been kitted out to serve as hangars. It is also rumored that Sashar keeps the pair of basilisk war droids he’s refitting here. Further into the cave network leading off from the quarry are a myriad of store-rooms and supply caches, and there are a number of machine shops and temporary quarters. Also hidden about the quarry’s lip are a number of disguised SAM sites and a shield generator powerful enough to prevent Orbital Bombardment, but only for the surrounding area – it’s protective umbrella barely stretches across the entirety of the Venku Range. All of these defenses are controlled by a small ATC center buried into the Quarry directly atop a dedicated power generator.
Ruins
The ruins, located high up on the range are crumbling and empty save for a series of wooden additions such as gangways, crawl ways and climbing frames that comprise an assault course. The high altitude makes a circuit of the course more taxing than it would otherwise be, however it is a fair benchmark of whether or not a member of the Erinos Clan needs to work on their physique if they can’t complete it in under ten minutes. The Ruins also offer an unparalleled view of the surrounding countryside…and an ideal position for snipers.
Swamp
The swamp has been left completely untouched. Considered a hunting ground by many of the Erinos Clan, it is nevertheless an area that is incredibly unsafe to anything apart from the family of Krite Dragons that are rumored to nest in the heart of the swampy lowland. The Mandalorian residents of the Range have also introduced Strills into the eco-system, and the animals have taken to the swamp and rainforest with wild abandon.
Erinos Homestead
The Erinos Homestead, nestled on the northern face of the highest mountain of the range is nevertheless somewhat larger than the other abodes, as it has to house all six of the Vode Erinos as well as the various hands attached to the family. Despite its larger footprint aboveground, it still has the grass covered flat roof – loyal to Mandalorian architecture – and as such is invisible from the air.
The homestead’s only entrance leads down into a large round atrium that acts as a common area with low seating, cabinets displaying various trophies gained on hunts over the years and a large grill to barbeque any fresh kills (the roof panels can partially retract to allow the smoke to escape when the inhabits are confident security or detection won’t be an issue). Around the atrium runs a wide corridor that leads to the six Vode Erinos quarters, a kitchen, a refresher, store-room, pantry and smithy. In the atrium there is a hidden trapdoor leading straight down to a much larger underground facility.
Under the homestead the décor changes dramatically. Militarily utilitarian in nature, the narrow corridors lead to various more martial chambers, such as a fully-stocked armory, a set of detention centers, an interrogation chamber, a speeder garage, a tech workshop and a panic room. There is also an escape route from the panic room that leads towards the quarry, but stops a few kilometers short of providing a connected passage.
