The Order of the Shield is a sect formed by Jaspen Kraitus in early 30 ABY together with a number of Jedi Knights who had been stranded in the Orian system by the Yuuzhan Vong War due to a restrictions placed by the Dlarit Corporation on access to public transport by war refugees. The full nature of the Order's existence is presently unknown; however, it is believed Jaspen's motives are not as pure as he believes them to be.
Despite its noble origins, the Order has adopted a hard line approach to cleansing Orian of its dark taint, taking its actions outside the standard remit of the Jedi Code into territory some of the stranded Jedi in the Order have grown uncomfortable with. However, despite their questionable behaviour, the Order remains devoted–if possibly dangerously so–to the light.
Trivia
The Order of the Shield are to serve as adversaries for Clan Naga Sadow during a series of run-ons planned for 2009. Its role will be similar to the True Brotherhood's in previous years.
