Character History
Early life
11 ABY- 16 ABY
Azariel K'Untharantos was born on Nagi to parents whose names have since been forgotten, though their lessons are remembered. From age three to age five young Azariel was taught as any young Nagai, learning of honor and battle, and receiving his Tehk'la blade. In the year 16 ABY, a small group of Jedi came to Nagi. Recognizing Azariel for force-sensitive, they attempted to take and train him. His parents, however, disagreed with the Jedi, and eventually attacked them to stay away from their son. As Azariel watched his parents be defeated by the Light Jedi, he swore revenge on those who destroyed his family.
Birth of Llats
16 ABY - 21 ABY
For a year Azariel lived on the streets of Kotokai, stealing for food and fighting for territory. One day Azariel attempted to mug a seemingly harmless Human walking through an alleyway. The man, a Mandalorian known as Atin Ordo, quickly incapacitated the six-year old Nagai. For some reason instead of turning in or killing Azariel, the man gave him a challenge. In order to prove his strength he was to kill the sixteen year old leader of a local gang named Solon.
Azariel quickly found Solon and issued a challenge, which was met with laughter, though the young gang leader agreed. Both combatants drew their Tehk'la blades and circled each other. Azariel quickly gained the upper hand, as Solon underestimated his young opponent and had his blade knocked from his hands. With his opponent at his mercy, Azariel picked up Solon's blade and gave it back, stating "Let's start over, this time don't go easy on me." After a long fight, Solon managed to pin Azariel, but decided to let him live due to his earlier mercy. However, Solon cut Azariel's cheek from the edge of his left eye to his chin as a reminder of his loss.
Upon returning to the alley Azariel told Atin of the fight. Atin smiled and told him that the task had nothing to do with strength, but honor. Atin then told the young Nagai that he was now a Mando'ade, a child of Mandalore, as well as a member of Clan Ordo. From then on Azariel adopted the name Llats.
Llats went on to learn of his adopted culture, especially that of his clan. Upon reaching Mandalore he found out the Atin's wife, Shara, could bare no children. He also met his brother and sister who had similarly been adopted by Atin, though both were Human. Jarl, the older brother, was a stubborn twelve year old who seemed to perpetually have a tan. Beatrix, Llats' sister, was one year younger than him. The two quickly became close, though Jarl acted aloof around them.
Taking up the usual Mandalorian training, Llats excelled, impressing his family with his progress. Things seemed to come naturally to him, and he seemed to get by some difficult training regimes by luck. This earned him the adoration of Beatrix as well as the jealousy of Jarl.
At the age of 15, Llats became a bounty hunter on Mandalore and nearby planets. By this point Beatrix was busy with her own training and Jarl had gone off to join the Mandalorian Preservers. Llats achieved moderate success in this aspect of his life, earning a modest amount of wealth as well as a fair reputation. He continued to bounty hunt for the next few years.
After an uncharacteristically distant job on Nar Shaddaa, Llats was approached by a cloaked figure. This mysterious person offered Llats strength beyond his imagination, as well as a place within history. The only catch, explained the figure, was that the power and honor must be earned. After Llats readily agreed to these terms the figure went on to explain that his natural talent, his luck was not such, but the Force manifesting itself. Llats was then sent to the Shadow Academy to begin his training as a member of the Dark Jedi Brotherhood.
