J'Kast is a Human male Sith sorcerer who is particularly interested in Sith history, archaeology and alchemy. His career in the Dark Jedi Brotherhood has been characterized by a commitment to pursuing lost arcane knowledge and pushing the boundaries of what is possible through the use of Sith lore in the pursuit of greater power.
Character History
Early Life
J'Kast was identified as a Force-sensitive student at a young age and began training as a Jedi on Coruscant. In initial studies and research, he drifted to interest in arcane subjects on the periphery of the official syllabus. The wanderlust and hunger for lost knowledge that study roused in his spirit was exciting but disruptive to the rigid rubrics and schedules of the Jedi. While he was recognized as a speedy and gifted student, it quickly became apparent to his mentors and himself that the Jedi lifestyle would not suit him. J'Kast left his course of training to pursue archaeology and research independently.
Predictably, the young sorcerer's thirst for knowledge and power pushed him to seek further secrets in the Dark Side of the Force. This led him to the Shadow Academy, a newly founded institution of the Dark Jedi Brotherhood when it was a fledgling organization. He dedicated his time and attention to studies there and quickly contributed to some of its founding courses. After several years studying and flying in the Brotherhood's service, J'Kast went on an academic sabbatical away from the Brotherhood around the time of the Exodus.
After much time adrift and in pursuit of higher knowledge through Secrets of the Force, J'Kast returned to the Brotherhood during the reign of Grand Master Dacien Victae. He remains focused on uncovering lost Sith lore and is obsessed with discoveries related to prolonging life, extending consciousness beyond the physical form, and seeking immortality--in any form.
Extensive Studies
J'Kast has always operated under the belief that the past is prologue, that those who do not learn history are doomed to repeat it, and that the great deeds of our forebearers can enlighten our paths. To that end, he has pursued an endless career of study of lore, history and the treatises of those great minds that have pondered the timeline of our era. Poring over ancient texts has also necessitated learning several languages in addition to Basic, including Ancient Sith and Minnisiat.
Physical Description
J'Kast has pale skin that shows a cold undertone; it's white, but its translucence gives the skin a light blue shadow up-close. His black and grey hair is thin and primarily concentrated above his ears, leaving the crown of his head bald. J'Kast's eyes are a light blue color that borders on grey-blue, as if the irises are slowly fading. Age wears heavily on his face, particularly showing on his forehead and around his mouth. His body is aged and average - not spindly but also not appearing to be fully "fleshed out," either.
