However, the head of a rival company had other plans, killing Archer's family in what would be deemed an accidental overload of the facility's power generator. Archer himself narrowly survived when a shuttle he was piloting, as well as a half dozen other family related craft that same day, crashed into the ocean due to related sabotage. The memory of plummeting toward the planet would stick with him, leaving him with a weariness for extreme heights. But he pushed on. Using what credits he still had he managed to orchestrate a plan to lure the man who had killed his family to a private meeting under the guise of a business deal.
