CS Guide: Skills

Below you can find the full reference guide for Character Sheet Skills. All documentation is based on the Skills 2.0 project headed up by the Combat Master, Voice Staff, and Character Sheet Development Team.

The goal of these tables is to give the writers of the DB an accurate point of reference for how to write their characters. Please note that the examples provided are not meant to limit what you can do with your character, simply to give you the idea, scope, and scale of what they could achieve.

Resolve

Resolve is one of the core skill attributes along with Intellect and Perception. You can find answers to some frequently asked questions involving Resolve and how it interacts with other skills and powers here.

Resolve
Resolve is your character's willpower and their ability to handle stress, keep a level head, and stand firm in the face of danger. It is also your character's mental resilience against both skills and the effects of Force-based intrusions of the mind such as Intimidation, Mind Trick, Illusion, Terror, and Force Interrogation. The higher a character’s Resolve is, relative to an attack/threat Skill or Force Power, the less effective the attack's result is in conjunction with that character's skills. Only in the scenario of an extreme disparity in ability could Resolve outright prevent the onset of an ability.
+0	Basic willpower. You can resist the temptations of eating something unhealthy in favor of something healthy. Unless you're really really hungry. Sticks and stones can break your bones, but so can words.
+1	Idle threats bounce off of you, but a clear threat of danger can give you pause. Conflict between allies and foes alike won’t stress you out, as long as they don’t stretch out for an extended period of time.
+2	You can fend off stronger temptations such as substance addiction for short periods of time. You can keep calm while someone fires a blaster next to your ear on a battlefield or on the noisy bridge of a capital ship.
+3	You could quit an addictive substance by willpower alone. Words are wind.
+4	Your character can face down an angry rancor, in its den, without so much as blinking, and can think clearly on any battlefield, whether the odds are in your favor or not.
+5	You have been fighting a losing battle for weeks, but can still stand in the middle of a warzone facing a superior foe that outnumbers you 10-1 and has you surrounded without losing heart, and carry on the fight.

Athletics

Athletics
Measures the amount of control your character has over their body when in motion such as running, climbing, dodging, or swimming. Athletics represents the combination of balance, coordination and agility your character can perform when they are uninjured, well rested, and at their peak.
+0	Basic control over your reflexes and daily activity.
+1	You’re physically active, but avoid trying to pull off fancy feats of agility. Able to dodge large projectiles, hop over hurdles, and can slowly make your way through a large crowd.
+2	On par with an amateur Holoball player. Cat-like grace and balance, able to change direction and dodge small projectiles.
+3	On par with a professional Holoball player. Cats envy your balance and agility. You can cut on a dime and change direction without blinking.
+4	You can move easily through a crowded marketplace, and very few obstacles will give you more than a second's pause to avoid.
+5	The pinnacle of control. You can sprint through a crowded marketplace without ever slowing or coming to a stop.

Might

Might
Measure an individual's capacity for raw feats of physical strength. Might represents the force that can be applied towards moving, throwing, or otherwise displacing matter when uninjured, well rested, or otherwise in peak condition. It is indicative of the force behind attacks as well as labor oriented tasks.
+0	You can go about the daily activity of interacting with objects like boxes, bags, or weapons. Anything that you can get a grip on can be moved, lifted, or thrown, but heavy objects relative to your body weight will cause strain. Untrained attacks won't do much beyond annoy others when full force is applied.
+1	You are able to lift large boxes, carry heavy bags and know the basics of leveraging your physicality for optimal output. Untrained attacks will hurt but not disorient an opponent.
+2	Heavy boxes, bags, and large objects such as metal chairs offer little difficulty and you know exactly how to leverage your physicality with enough preparation. Untrained attacks will leave an unprotected opponent shaken when full force is applied.
+3	You can handle heavy objects like tables and weights with ease and you can leverage your physicality in the heat of the moment. Untrained attacks will leave an unprotected opponent disoriented when full force is applied.
+4	You can, with enough effort and time, perform superhuman feats of strength and leverage your physicality at all times. Untrained attacks will leave an unprotected opponent knocked out when full force is applied.
+5	Superhuman feats of strength are commonplace, leaving an impression of raw power and full control over your physicality. Untrained attacks will leave an unprotected opponent with broken bones when full force is applied.

Intellect

Intellect
Measures an individual’s ability to use logical reasoning to problem solve, think abstractly and comprehend complex ideas or schemes. Intellect often manifests itself as your character’s wit, and how apt you are at applying knowledge and learning from experience.
+0	Rubix cubes are challenging, but basic problems can be troubleshooted as long as you can look it up on the holonet. You can occasionally land a good, “that’s what she said” joke.
+1	You can solve a rubix cube when concentrating and the daily crossword puzzles are a cinch. Your home is filled with many leather bound books and you’ve read them all, and can apply your collective knowledge fairly well in conversation.
+2	Rubix cubes are boring, and you can complete them without much effort. With enough time, you can figure out complex puzzles and riddles.
+3	You have a sharp tongue and can fire off quips off the hip. You enjoy arguing technicalities with lawyers, and have a knack for deciphering puzzles and riddles.
+4	Your mind should be classified as a deadly weapon. You can decipher even the most complex of riddles, and have made lawyers cower before your ability to interject your knowledge into a debate.
+5	You’ve spent hours arguing the difference between being “naked” and “nude”. Lawyers won’t even engage you in discussion, and you are no longer invited to trivia nights with your clanmates because you can answer all the questions before they are even finished.

Stamina

Stamina
Measures how long an individual can maintain their peak Athletic ability and maximum Might. It weighs how well your character can overcome obstacles like fatigue and injury and generally refers to your level of physical stamina. Measures how long an individual can maintain their peak Athletic ability and full Might. It weighs how well your character maintains their stamina through obstacles like fatigue and non-inhibiting wounds (doesn’t prevent proper functioning), maintaining their level of physical stamina over a period of time despite feeling pain or tiredness.
+0	Daily activity is a breeze, but you often find yourself winded after trying to chase down an escaped nerf or otherwise physically exerting yourself. You find most non-inhibiting wounds difficult to push past.
+1	You’ve gotten yourself into basic shape and can easily run up and down stairs all day or go for a run through an obstacle course. Your physical skills will deteriorate if you don’t get enough rest between skirmishes, but you can still maintain your stamina despite superficial, non-inhibiting wounds.
+2	On par with a seasoned military soldier. You go on long-distance runs daily and rarely get winded unless under heavy duress or wounded. You can come out of a bar-room brawl panting but are able to keep going about your daily activities. Lack of sleep and non-inhibiting wounds will catch up with you after a short time.
+3	You can function at the peak of your abilities when battered and on as little as an hour or so of sleep each night. You can maintain your physical abilities even with moderate, non-inhibiting wounds, and can finish a marathon panting but able to function after some down time.
+4	After finishing running a marathon, you are ready to run another. Even with non-inhibiting wounds, you can keep pushing your body with little sleep, and it will take a while for it to catch up with you.
+5	Even with severe, non-inhibiting wounds, you can push your body without need for rest. You can maintain your full athleticism and strength even in the 11th hour of the 7th day.

Perception

Perception
Measures an individual's ability to read their surroundings through observation alone. It highlights your character's attention to detail without aid from the Force, and how well they can react to changes in their surroundings. Perception manifests itself when scanning a room for traps or weighing the truth of someone's words.
+0	You can tell when a painting is crooked on a wall, or something obvious is out of place. You can tell when someone is trying to sell you something you probably don’t need.
+1	You can unravel how most magic tricks or sleights-of-hand work, and tend to be aware of the finer details in the world happening around you.
+2	You can tell when someone is deceiving you without any Force divination and can notice things others do not after studying something with your full attention.
+3	Details paint a larger picture of understanding and heighten your awareness of your surroundings. Very little escapes your notice when you are focused.
+4	Even the smallest detail can reveal pertinent information, and even the best actors have problems hiding their “tells”.
+5	You can see through even the best poker-face with only a quick glance. Nothing goes over your head; your reflexes are too fast.

Astrogation

Astrogation
An individual's ability to plot routes through space. Many forego this skill in favor of astromech droids, but droids can only serve predefined routes. The ability to observe, analyze, and implement navigation in space can be an invaluable tool. Starting with a basic understanding of how hyperspace routes are determined, as an individual progresses through this skill he or she will gain a stronger understanding of the astronomical anomalies that affect navigation through space and eventually implement new routes through hyperspace to take advantage of this understanding. While using this skill untrained, an individual would have some knowledge of the major hyperspace routes through the Galaxy, but that's it.
+0	You know of major hyperspace lanes.
+1	You understand the effects of various anomalies on hyperspace travel, and are familiar with most hyperspace lanes throughout the Galaxy.
+2	You can plot a basic route through hyperspace without the aid of a droid brain, and know of nearly every hyperspace route in the known Galaxy.
+3	You can quickly plot a basic hyperspace route without the aid of a droid brain. With focus and time to work, you are able to develop a route that reduces travel time through known hyperspace lanes.
+4	You are able to plot a route that takes far less time than normal. After careful consideration of anomalies and known factors, you can plot short routes that were previously unknown.
+5	You are capable of navigating the most wild of space with ease, with no help from a droid brain. You know how anomalies and hyperspace lanes work to such an extent that you are easily capable of developing new lanes through space or drastically reducing hyperspace travel time by taking shortcuts in existing routes.

Beast Riding

Beast Riding
An individual's ability to mount an animal as a vehicle. This relates to being able to stay mounted upon an animal that was not specifically designed for a rider. Starting with a true understanding that animals are not always favorable to their riders, as an individual progresses in this skill he or she will be able to comfortably sit upon a variety of creatures and ride them as comfortably as he or she would upon a speeder.
+0	With concentration and focus, you are able to ride a well behaved animal.
+1	You know enough to know how to handle an animal that is trained for riding and are able to do so with ease.
+2	You are comfortable firing a rifle while riding an animal that is trained and are able to train others in how to ride.
+3	You are comfortable multitasking while riding a wide range of creatures in and out of combat.
+4	You can ride most creatures even while dozing at the “saddle”. You can ride a creature backwards just as well as you can ride it forward.
+5	If it supports your weight, you can ride it effortlessly, no matter how wild or powerful the creature is.

Bladed Weapons

Bladed Weapons
A fighter's ability to use a range of bladed melee weapons. This includes: Swords, Knives, Spears, Axes, and Vibroweapons of the same types. Starting with an understanding of one type of weapon, as an individual progresses, he or she can expand on not just mastery over a single type of bladed weapon, but competency in others.
+0	You know which end of a bladed weapon is intended to injure or kill. Stick ‘em with the pointy end.
+1	You are skilled with the core forms of a bladed weapon type of your choice and are a competent combatant.
+2	You are skilled in the complex forms of a bladed weapon type of your choice.
+3	You know enough about bladed weapons to pick up and fight competently with any type of bladed weapon and are able to fight expertly with one of your choice.
+4	You are highly skilled with bladed weapons, able to pick up and expertly wield any bladed weapon type.
+5	You know the ins-and-outs of every type of bladed weapon and are adept at using any type.

Blasters

Blasters
Training in Blasters covers any energy-based firearm from hold-out pistols to Repeating and Sniper Rifles. It measures your character’s proficiency in using them as a weapon as well as your understanding of the different blaster types and how they function. With more skill comes the ability to adapt over a wider range of blaster types.
+0	You can point and shoot, but any hits are lucky shots at best. You know how to reload and turn the safety on and off.
+1	You are skilled with one type of blaster weapon (pistols, rifles, or repeaters) and can line up a shot in fair weather and hit your mark. You can track moving targets but have a harder time hitting them when in battle.
+2	You are skilled with two types of blaster weapons (pistol, rifles, repeaters). You can effortlessly track moving targets and draw beads on them in fair weather conditions and in battle. Accuracy decreases in rougher conditions.
+3	You are familiar with all kinds of blaster, but are an expert with one in particular. You have countless contest trophies to show off for your ability to hit targets from a wide variety of ranges and angles. Rough weather is an annoyance, but nothing you can’t handle with enough patience and time.
+4	Any type of blaster is an instrument of death in your hand. You rarely miss a shot, even in rough weather, the middle of a warzone, or with distractions all around you.
+5	You can spell your name on a target board without looking, hungover.

Blunt Weapons

Blunt Weapons
A character's ability to use a range of blunted melee weapons in combat. This includes: Quaterstaves, Electrostaves, and Hammers and any kind of bludgeoning weapon like a cudgel or batton. Starting with an understanding of one type of weapon, as an individual progresses, he or she can expand on not just mastery over a single type of blunt weapon, but competency in others.
+0	You know which end of a blunt weapon is designed for hurting and which is for holding. Smash with the heavy bit.
+1	You understand the basic techniques needed to wield one type of blunt weapon and how to put it through basic combat patterns.
+2	You are skilled with one blunt weapon type, and can pick up the use of another type by applying the basic fundamentals.
+3	You are an expert with your favorite blunt weapon, and can pick up and fight competently with any other type of blunt weapon.
+4	You understand and employ the complex forms involved in the use of any blunt weapon in the Galaxy.
+5	If it smashes things, you are an expert with it. You are adept with any blunt weapon you can get your hands on.

Crafting

Crafting
An individual's skill with creating, tweaking, or modifying armor and weapons. This skill also carries a sense of artistic ability, and covers using a forge for weapons or machinery for armor.
+0	You know how to change the default configurations of most things to suit your needs. You can tie a knife to a broomstick to make a spear.
+1	You can get more specific with your modifications to your armor and weapons, and with a reference guide, tools, and a workshop, create basic armor and weapons.
+2	Modifications to existing items are standard. With the right materials and the right workshop, you can create more advanced weapons and armors.
+3	Once something is in your hands, it rarely reflects the original configuration after you’ve heavily modified it to suit your needs. You can work with the right materials and the right tools to create advanced weapons and armors in less than ideal conditions.
+4	Crafting things is second nature to you. You can upgrade existing armor and weapons, and craft new ones, if given the right tools to work with. Even less than ideal conditions and materials will not slow you down noticeably at this level, though it will still take some time to produce multiple upgrades or craft several items.
+5	With enough time, you could outfit an entire Ewok tribe with upgraded spears that pierce plasteel armor, more efficient slingshots that can dent plasteel armor, and even armor of their own with just some rudimentary tools and the resources available in the forest. Modifications and tweaks to any existing armor or weapon is like breathing.

Diplomacy

Diplomacy
An individual's ability to conduct negotiations between representatives. This relates to maintaining contacts, as well as understanding the nuances of conversational warfare. Starting with a firm understanding of the “power” of words, an individual progresses in this skill to become a fencer of the tongue; a being capable of maintaining a vast network of individuals while able to say exactly the right things in order to facilitate the best outcome for his or her own purposes.
+0	You know the difference between an insult and a compliment. In addition, you understand that words have power, but not quite how to apply them to every situation.
+1	You better understand people and their triggers. When it comes to the art of compromise, you are able to take in a situation and identify the common ground, though getting there requires more effort.
+2	You can come into a volatile situation and diffuse it with some effort, able to sway both sides of a debate. Most of the time, you can at least come to a conclusion without conflict.
+3	Compromise and conflict resolution have become your forte. You can negotiate the complicated pathways of people's needs and wants, arriving at a conclusion that appeases all involved with small effort.
+4	You have developed a network of contacts and a reputation as a compromiser. When coming into a conflict, everyone can rest assured that you will quickly see to the heart of any issue and resolve it in a manner that completely diffuses potential hostilities.
+5	When it comes to negotiations, you have the floor. Your network of contacts are vast, and you know how to coordinate them most efficiently to resolve any and all potential conflicts. Whether working on an individual level, or speaking as a representative among a collective, you are perfectly at peace in the war of words.

Dual Wielding

Dual Wielding
The ability to effectively wield multiple weapons at the same time. As rank increases, proficiency increases. Starting with a clear “Primary” hand, your off-hand becomes less and less prominent as your ability to use disparate or similar weapons rises.
+0	You can hold two of the same type of weapon and execute beginner patterns of the respective Weapon Skill without hurting yourself. You can hold a blaster in one hand and a knife in the other, but good luck using them both in tandem.
+1	You can fire a blaster with one hand while slashing at another opponent with the other. This requires concentration. With matching weapons, you can execute more practiced yet formulaic patterns with ease.
+2	You can fight effectively with any two weapons of the same type, but still favor one hand as your primary. Disparate weapons can be handled effectively with concentration.
+3	You can fight effectively with any two types of weapons, and seamlessly with the same type. An equally skilled or better opponent can still detect your off-hand.
+4	You can fight seamlessly with any combination or pairing of weapons, and only the keenest of duelists will be able to detect an off-hand.
+5	You don’t have an off-hand. You can fight with any combination of weapons without any extra concentration.

Empathy

Empathy
An individual's ability to understand and observe changes in the personality or emotions of others, make connections, and relate to them. An Empath can use this knowledge to their advantage, whether that be sympathizing with a positive cause and support it, or sympathizing with a negative cause and debunk it. Empathy supports a multitude of other skills, as the trust built can be used to bolster or lower Resolve, Manipulate others into agreeing with you, and even heighten your efforts in Leadership.
+0	Basic ability to read emotion and body language. You can discern that when someone is crying, they are probably upset about something.
+1	“I know that feel, bro.” You can cheer your friends up with a simple smile, or make them come running to your aid if you start to cry. Strangers, not so much.
+2	You know how to leverage your own emotions, mood, and body language to leverage or alter your friends opinions, for better or for worse.
+3	You can align with almost anyone you have a conversation with for a short period of time. You know how to listen for the right amount of time, when to nod along or cover your mouth in awe.
+4	Your facial expression alone is a weapon, and can do just as much damage as your body language and mood to level and identify with others.
+5	You can convince another sentient of a different culture, that doesn’t speak your language or even know who you are that you understand their pain or happiness, with body language alone.

Explosives

Explosives
The understanding of explosive devices such as bombs, grenades, missiles, and anything else that goes "boom". You possess the knowledge of their chemical compositions, components, and most importantly, their effects on the world around them.
+0	“What’s that ticking sound?” You know how to pull a pin and chuck a grenade, and the general effect it will have.
+1	“M as in MANCY” You understand the concept of a blast radius. You can recognize and safely employ various types of grenades and simple explosives like a breaching charge. You can disarm a bomb with someone walking you through it.
+2	You can now arm and effectively employ advanced explosive charges and mines. You have a basic understanding of the amount of explosive it will take to accomplish a given task. You can disarm basic bombs from memory but need guidance for more complex ones. You understand basic chemical compositions of explosives.
+3	You are able to employ a wide variety of explosives to great effect, knowing when, where and how to place charges to get a desired effect. You have a detailed understanding of the chemical composition of most commonly used explosives and can fabricate your own given the right materials.
+4	You can create improvised explosives with household chemicals and employ them to devastating effects. You can disarm complex bombs from memory.
+5	You disassemble nuclear bombs for fun. You can tweak a detonation charge so that it will explode and only kill exactly two people in a crowd of ten.

Interrogation

Interrogation
An individual's ability to extract information from a target and the time and effort required to do so. This includes an understanding of interrogation techniques for a variety of circumstances and is not limited to verbal methods of coercion but includes physical acts and threats such as torture or teasing. Time and patience can alter effectiveness.
+0	“Who is your Daddy, and what does he do?” You can get name, rank and serial number without much trouble, but finding the true culprit behind stealing the cookie jar in the mess hall can be difficult.
+1	You can obtain several details from an individual with basic techniques that don’t require finesse, like waterboarding or shooting someone above the kneecap with a slug thrower. Given time, you can effectively extract basic information like the name of an underling.
+2	You know how to employ more advanced techniques, both subtle and direct, to get the information you require. Given enough time, you can crack a rookie spy or agent into giving you basic information.
+3	You can employ a wide range of techniques, but still require some time with a spy or agent. You may not be able to crack seasoned agents or spies into giving up valuable secrets, but you can extract most other information from them
+4	You can employ a wide range of techniques to get the information you require in a timely manner. You can crack seasoned agents or spies to give up valuable information.
+5	Time is no longer an issue. You will have your target telling you all they know before even laying a hand on them.

Intimidation

Intimidation
Your character's ability to force a target into acting a certain way, be it based on your demeanor or your reputation. Intimidation does not typically cause an individual to actively believe something different, it simply forces that individual into a course of action out of fear for their own survival and well being. Initially, this skill would allow an individual to bully a mentally weak target into an action he or she is hesitant to take, while subsequent levels of the skill allows an intimidator to coerce more unwilling targets into action.
+0	You know that the promise of danger can sway others into action, but not enough to fashion those threats into a weapon of your own.
+1	You have learned the effectiveness of threats towards individuals and the use of appearance in order to gain cooperation from others. While it can be useful against the weak minded, it would take longer than is worthwhile to influence others.
+2	Not only do you understand the effectiveness of physical threats towards an individual and non-verbal aggression, you also can leverage fairly apparent external factors like a nearby ally. Given enough uninterrupted time with a target, you can poke and prod until the cracks begin to form without actually having to follow through on your threats.
+3	You have reached an efficiency with threats that is almost routine. You can gauge the weaknesses of a target and leverage their fears in just the right way to get your desired outcome in most situations. It is a mundane task to influence those of weaker minds, and it's only a matter of time for those of stronger wills once you find something to exploit.
+4	At this level, an experienced individual can weave threats, both physical and implied, like an emotional terrorist. You are skilled at knowing just what weakness to poke, which expression to wear, and how much leverage to apply in order to get the desired result from even a strong-willed target.
+5	No longer merely experienced, you have mastered the nuances involved in weaving any kind of threat to gain your desired results from a target. Even the smallest of openings can be touched upon and pried wide open to your methods, surgically applying leverage to the right weakness.

Investigation

Investigation
An individual's ability to spend time in order to detect and discover clues through active searching. Initially, this skill resembles something closer to rummaging, but with training, it can be used to detect everything from inconsistencies in bank statements to biological samples at a crime scene, and the implications of each.
+0	Common awareness of things happening around you.
+1	You understand the importance of observation without obstruction. You are more careful of the subtle nuances that can be observed and where they can lead, but it takes time and effort to form the connections.
+2	Your 'educated guess' success rate has improved, demonstrating your ability to connect the dots of a scene, or multiple instances of evidence you've looked over. You can put together the puzzle pieces, given enough time, and reliably produce an accurate result.
+3	You see the strands that connect events, and can follow those from point to point. It takes you relatively little time to piece together seemingly unconnected points of interest and form the bigger picture. CorSec would pay a decent living wage for your employ.
+4	When the so-called experts aren't enough, you're the one who gets the call. It is a relatively simple matter for you to piece together clues and connections as if weaving a complex tapestry. The world is full of hints, and you know the right places to look.
+5	The world is a loom before you, and you are the weaver at its helm. Everything has a place, everything is connected, and you see those connections as easily as if you were tracing a child's connect-the-dots artwork.

Leadership
Measures an individual's ability to inspire anyone in his or her company, ranging from a small team to an entire Clan. It is also the ability to rally others to a cause, to convince them that a course of action is right and without the need for Manipulation. Some lead by example, and some by eloquent words. Presence fuses with knowing the right things to say at the right time.
+0	You can get a small group to do something they were already considering doing or something they had no opinion on with strong external motivation.
+1	You are adept at leading small units and motivating your team through tough missions, though doubt will creep in if you hesitate or appear less than fully competent.
+2	People will instinctively follow your lead unless given a reason not to. You are able to inspire loyalty and raise morale through rousing speeches or acts of heroism. Subordinates will still question you if the unit fails or your orders seem illogical.
+3	Your name garners strong loyalty and your mere presence boosts confidence during intense situations. All but the most skeptical of individuals will follow you without hesitation.
+4	You effortlessly gain the faith and trust of those you come into contact with. The mere mention of your name inspires intense loyalty among your subordinates and naysayers will quickly get shut down, even if your orders don’t make sense at the moment. Your subordinates believe they can do almost anything with you at the helm.

Linguistics
Linguistics refers to an individual's ability to read, write, and analyze text, speech, and transcriptions from different languages. All characters have a base understanding of their own native language and Galactic Basic. Linguistics covers the addition of new languages to an individual's repertoire, one for each rank in the skill. When used untrained, this skill grants proficiency in all common languages associated with the individual's species.

Lore
For each Rank in the Lore Skill, your character has studied a subject intensely and is considered an expert in that field. This knowledge is on par with an academic 2-4 year program. Beginning with one subject at Skill Level 1, you gain an additional subject for each respective Skill Level.
+0	You know the lore of the Brotherhood and the history of the modern era, i.e. Imperial Period, New Republic, and New Jedi Order. You are up to date on current news and pop culture and the state of the Galaxy.

Manipulation

Manipulation
An individual's ability to change the perception or behavior of others through verbal persuasion. This includes the uses of negative and positive reinforcement, covert intimidation, falsification, seduction, and is generally limited to verbal and social methods of coercion. This skill allows an individual to change the behavior or perception of mentally stronger targets and, over time and with exposure, to increase the severity of the change until eventually the manipulator is able to change the behavior and perception of very strong willed individuals to do or believe something they wouldn't have before, all the while making them think it was their decision the entire time.
+0	“Come on. Do it. Do the truffle shuffle!” With enough hassle, you can convince others to do your bidding.
+1	You understand how to “push someone's buttons” in order to get what you want. It may not be exactly what you expected their response to be, but you're on the right track.
+2	You know how to push another individual in your desired direction, but you still lack some subtlety. Your tactics are slow and laboured, but given enough time one on one you generally find success.
+3	Words are your weapon of choice, and you have no qualms applying it like a razor's edge. Your tongue cuts deep, or forms the silver lining to any dark cloud. When left alone with an individual for only a short time, you will get your desired outcome.
+4	You can multitask multiple individuals at a time, coercing each with just the right word, just the right moment to speak. You can see the course of a conversation and its ever changing current and can direct the tide as you see fit.
+5	You always get what you want, in the end. Anyone under your influence is probably unaware they are already doing exactly what you want them to be doing.

Mechanic

Mechanic
The ability for an individual to understand the hardware functions and ministrations of computers, droids, and gadgets. The ability to repair, build, deconstruct and rebuild machines and to tinker with their designs and functions. Beginning with a basic understanding of what different circuits and functions on a computer, droid, and gadget do, this skill allows an individual to eventually take that knowledge and transform it into repairing and rebuilding machines in increasingly disparate states of repair.
+0	You know where to find a machine’s maintenance panels.
+1	Basic failures and minor damage can be fixed fairly quickly, but more advanced tasks are beyond you without the proper tools.
+2	Given time, you can restore full functionality to damaged computers, droids, and gadgets.
+3	You could run your own shop if you felt so inclined. You need less time and can repair more heavily damaged computers, droids, and gadgets with the right tools and smaller more simple machines with less than ideal tools.
+4	You can make all but the most badly damaged machines work again, even with less than ideal parts.
+5	With random components, you can create or rebuild a computer, droid, or gadget from scratch. With the right parts, you can repair anything with circuitry to operational levels.

Medicine

Medicine
An individual's understanding of physiology, anatomy, cell structure and various systems (such as nerves, digestive, and vascular) on their native species. Through experience, one can learn how to treat subjects of multiple races beyond his or her own as well as expand his or her knowledge in how best to treat different types of injuries. Medicine not only grants the ability to heal, but the ability to harm as well - an expert in medicine will know what cures poison, but can use the very same knowledge to accelerate or even create their own poison.
+0	You know the importance of hydration, how to execute the heimlich maneuver, and that it is important to keep blood on the inside of your body, not the outside.
+1	You know basic First Aid and CPR, and you can spot the common symptoms of the well known illnesses and injuries of the Galaxy. You can clean a wound and apply stitches, but only in a safe environment.
+2	Your medical training allows you to bring your skills into the field. You are able to treat species that are anatomically similar to your own, clean and treat wounds, apply stitches, and recognize toxins.
+3	You have a working anatomical understanding of the more popular species in the Galaxy and how to diagnose and treat a wide range of illnesses and injuries. You can apply your knowledge of anatomy to inflicting pain on bones, muscles, or pressure points.
+4	Like an advanced surgeon, you can successfully amputate a limb on the battlefield without worry of infection. You can effectively treat most humanoid species and apply knowledge of anatomy to mend or cause harm.
+5	Cutting edge research physician / surgeon, you discover cures to rare diseases and invent new surgical techniques. You are able to diagnose and treat all but the rarest of humanoid species in the Galaxy, and can do so in the middle of an active war zone without so much as flinching.

Miscellaneous Weapons

Miscellaneous Weapons
A character's ability to make use of and utilize weapons that do not fall into a conventional category or school of training. This can be anything as archaic as a bow and arrow to throwing projectiles, dart guns, and whips.
+0	You know how to point and shoot a dart gun or bow, flick projectiles and crack a whip.
+1	You have a good understanding of the effective use of a single type of miscellaneous weapon, and can use it in combat.
+2	You are skilled with your favored miscellaneous weapon, and can use more complex forms of fighting against skilled opponents.
+3	You are highly adept with your miscellaneous weapon of choice, and skilled with another. You can fight competently with anything else you find.
+4	A master of your weapons of choice, you are very skilled with any miscellaneous weapon you can find.
+5	If it hurts people and doesn’t fit under the categories of blunt or bladed, you are highly adept in its applications for violence.

Pilot (L)

Pilot (L)
An individual’s ability to operate and coordinate any vehicle that requires more than one pilot and cannot be operated effectively and entirely from a single terminal, anything from an AT-AT to a Capital Ship. This includes larger freighters, barges, and mobile artillery.
+0	You can operate vehicles that require multiple pilots with someone telling you exactly which buttons and levers to push and guided assistance from an AI or sentient.
+1	You know the basics of piloting larger vehicles and know your way around the common consoles with only occasionally asking for a tip. You understand the basics of how a Capital ship runs, and can speak the jargon language of some of the crew.
+2	You know your way around a few larger vehicles without any external help, but still need help if it’s something you’re unfamiliar with. You speak the language of the technicians that keep a Capital ship running and know your way around even the grittier sub-decks.
+3	You have a keen understanding of how to operate a wide range of popular, larger vehicles used in the galaxy. You can pull off stunts that seasoned operators would tip a hat to. You know the finer details of what makes a Capital ship run.
+4	Seasoned operators are jealous at how easily you can pick up operating new vehicles you’re unfamiliar with. You know every element of what makes a Capital ship operational, and can fill in for any position on the crew in a pinch just as well as a seasoned operator.
+5	You know every detail of every larger vehicle used in the galaxy. Even if you haven’t personally operated one, you’ve memorized the manual and can use your talent to figure out the rest as you go without anyone realizing you’re not an expert. You could take on any position on a Capital ship, and probably do a better job than the current officer in charge of that respective department.

Pilot (S)

Pilot (S)
An individual’s ability to identify, control, and operate starfighters, speeder bikes, pod-racers, small freighters, and other space or ground vehicles that require a single pilot. An individual would also have a basic understanding of how to engage and use the weaponry on their vehicle relative to their skill level. Piloting (S) also covers the character's effectiveness in using jetpacks or jetboots in combat.
+0	You can operate transport vehicles like speeder bikes and jetpacks, but will be at a loss in an actual cockpit of a pod racer or starfighter without some kind of autopilot or assistance.
+1	You know the basics of piloting smaller vehicles and know your way around a single type of vehicle. You can execute basic handling maneuvers and coordinate with a squadron.
+2	You know your way around several small vehicles and can execute coordinated maneuvers and formations. You understand the technical requirements needed for ships to run and can communicate with support crews.
+3	You have a keen understanding of how to operate a wide range of popular, smaller vehicles used in the galaxy. You can pull off stunts that seasoned operators would tip a hat to. You know the finer details of what's required to keep your ships running.
+4	Seasoned operators are jealous at how easily you can pick up operating new vehicles you're unfamiliar with, considering you an "Ace". Slicing

Slicing
An individual's understanding of computer systems, software, the security used to protect them, and the nature of the strings of 0's and 1's that make up the root of computer technology. Beginning with a basic understanding of how, generally, to penetrate secure systems, an individual with a basic training in Slicing can use even slightly complex software, and with advanced training, that individual will be able to gain entrance to increasingly secure systems and electronics. When using this skill untrained, you have basic knowledge of how to use a computer terminal; for instance, you know that pressing ALT+F4 will not save your progress on a computer terminal and is much more likely to cause it to close.
+0	“Have you tried turning it on and off again?” Basic understanding of how terminals and computer systems work. You know how to change your Clanmate's background to something inappropriate if they leave their terminal unlocked.
+1	You can open up a command line and run through a basic series of hacks and tweaks. You know how to write basic code, and can break through a generic firewall.
+2	System Administrator: You have a working knowledge of computer systems and how to modify and tweak their settings. You can break through more advanced firewalls, edit code, and even reprogram basic droids.
+3	You have a professional knowledge of computer systems and how to modify and tweak them to your desire. You can reprogram more complex droids, but would need to reference a manual with combat droids.
+4	You can reprogram even a combat droid. You hack into corporate networks for fun.
+5	What firewalls? If it’s written in 0’s and 1’s, you can create, edit, or delete it without effort.

Slugthrowers

Slugthrowers
Covers the understanding and technical applications of slug-firing firearms. Though primitive, slugs are effective tools against Jedi as they are much harder to deflect than energy-based weapons.
+0	You can point and shoot, but any hits are lucky shots at best.
+1	You are skilled with one slugthrower weapon type and can line up a shot in fair weather and hit your mark. You can track moving targets but have a harder time hitting them when in battle.
+2	You are skilled with two slugthrower weapon types. You can effortlessly track targets and draw beads on them in fair weather and in battle. Accuracy decreases in rough weather.
+3	You are familiar with all slugthrower weapon types but are an expert with one in particular. You have countless contest trophies to show off for your ability to hit targets from a wide variety of ranges and angles. Rough weather is an annoyance but nothing you can’t handle with enough patience and time.
+4	Any slugthrower weapon type is an instrument of death in your hand. You rarely miss a shot, even in rough weather, the middle of a war, or with distractions all around you.
+5	You can spell your name on a target board without looking, hungover.

Subterfuge

Subterfuge
Measures an individual’s ability to use deception as a means to achieve a goal through lying, acting, or misdirection. Training in Subterfuge helps a character to better blend in with their surroundings and is integral in telling a convincing lie, whether it be verbal or through acting the part of a cover identity. It is also useful for disguising or masking emotion.
+0	You know that it’s probably a bad idea to wear bright orange jumpsuits if you want to sneak up on people in an urban environment. You can tell white lies, but can clam up if called on the spot.
+1	You can tell convincing lies, but they will unravel under heavy scrutiny. You know how to keep a straight face when you need to.
+2	You know that the best lies are simple in nature. You have an understanding of how subtle shifts in body language and tone can help you transform into an identity you’ve created.
+3	Lying is second nature. With enough time and preparation, you can get into “character” and stay there. You have better control of your mannerisms and quirks and know how to maintain or adjust them as needed.
+4	Your Clanmates won’t play Sabaac with you anymore. You can bluff your way to victory with a low pair.
+5	You can create and fall into a character on the spot, and maintain it for a month if needed. The only time people doubt the things you say is when you want them to doubt you.

Survival

Survival
An individual's ability to stay alive in otherwise difficult environments. This relates directly to the arts of scavenging, hunting, and resourcefulness. Starting with a basic understanding of what is required to continue living, as an individual progresses in this skill they will become more adept at acquiring the necessities of survival in even the most inhospitable of climates where others would otherwise perish.
+0	Moss grows on the north side of the tree... or something like that. Basic common sense and resourcefulness.
+1	You know which berries are good to eat and which ones will give you a tummy ache. You can string a basic trap, but good luck catching anything more than a pheasant.
+2	You can hunt small game and set traps, have a good knowledge of common environments, make simple tools and with the right supplies, you can survive on your own for some time.
+3	You have a working knowledge of how to survive on your own with limited supplies. You can hunt game, set traps, and have a healthy knowledge of most environments you may encounter.
+4	You’ve wrestled a wild Vornskr bare handed, and turned its pelt into makeshift clothing.
+5	You can survive on your own, on an unknown planet, with no supplies and no water.

Tactics

Tactics
Measures the core competencies needed to successfully command larger scale military units be they fleets or armies. This includes a sufficient base of knowledge on and application of: allied and enemy capabilities, common strategies and tactics and how to employ them.
+0	“Shoot back you idiots!” You understand the basics strategies of war and conflict and know what it takes to pull them off... in theory. In practice, it often comes down to the skill of the troops under your command and a bit of luck.
+1	You have seen your share of battles, and are versed in the more popular strategies used in war and conflict and can employ them to varying degrees of success.
+2	You know how to draw on past experiences and apply them to your current situations. Your have studied war and conflict to not only execute strategy in real time, but to counter the strategies of your opponents with high percentages of success, even without the ideal troops for the strategy.
+3	You understand the difference between spending lives under your command, and wasting them. You have a keen understanding of complex strategies employed in war and conflict, have studied the maneuvers and techniques employed throughout history, and can mix them with your own experiences to craft new strategies that others may not have come up with yet.
+4	You have watched and rewatched holovids of every major conflict in Galactic History (but don’t ask about the reasons behind those conflicts, since, that’s for history nerds) and can modify them to create your own unique strategies that often leave enemy commanders flat-footed.
+5	You know how to hold an enemy army at bay when outnumbered 5:1. Your name has been mentioned in the same breath as Ackbar, Pellaeon, and Bel Iblis. But not Thrawn, obviously.

Appendix A: Sample Lore Topics

The below list is a sampling of Lore topics in use in the club today, and can provide you with some ideas on what subjects you would like your character to have studied intensively.

Remember that even at +0 Lore, your character is assumed to know about recent history and the current state of the Galaxy, including the history of the modern era (Imperial Period, New Republic and New Jedi Order eras), and be up to date on current news and popular culture around the Galaxy.

Lore is, at its heart, a "flavor" skill and provides extra layers and knowledge to your character. You can create any lore topic you wish, as long as it fits in with the Star Wars universe.

Appendix B: Languages

Please refer to the Languages guide for a comprehensive list of languages currently in use within the character creation system. Other languages exist, and the best resource to identify a language is to search on Wookieepedia. Remember that you may also speak with the Voice staff, should you need help bringing your character to life.

All characters receive Basic, and many species come with an additional language, as per the Species guide.

Some Feats, for example Droidspeak, also grant languages for your character without the need to invest in Linguistics.
