The Bruth'Kothae are a family of Dark Jedi in the Dark Brotherhood.

Introduction

History

It is said that many years before the people of Iridonia discovered space travel, a wealthy land owner known only as Bruth housed a select few ‘protectors’. In truth, these ‘protectors’ where a core of highly trained assassins, hardened by the inhospitable landscape outside of the valleys the Zabrak people sheltered in, and scared by the planets acid rain.

The core spent every waking moment honing their swordsmanship, and studying the religion of their master, Kothae. This emphasised ones mental self, empowering and enhancing the physical one, drawing upon a ‘life force’ to strengthen themselves and their abilities.

It also taught the secrets of the elements, the ability to control Fire, Water, Earth and Air. With a combination of stealth, elemental powers and pure skill the ‘protectors’ struck down the opponents of their master. All those who threatened the longevity of Bruth’s household soon feel to a swift demise.

Before long all of Bruth’s adversaries were disposed off and the core grew restless. Their master announced that they were to be disbanded, but they did not agree, and turned on the one they once protected. The core then assumed the name of Bruth’Kothae, a name to be whispered in the streets, but never heard.

The assassin core set out over the desolate planet’s surface, living through acid showers, excruciating storms and wild animals. After a year or more searching they found what they sought; an expansive underground cavern, a most challenging labyrinth.

The Bruth’Kothae made this place home, here they trained and over the years taking in few apprentices, but eventually they branched into the political world of Iridonia, placing their own people into select positions where they could monitor happenings, and ‘manipulate’ affairs to suit their own needs.

They continued like this, for several hundreds of years, training in their deadly arts, disposing of their opposition and manipulating the government into allowing experiments which lead to space travel. The scientific leap into space was embraced fully by the Bruth’Kothae; they acquired a shuttle and settled on a new grassland planet.

The name of this planet was irrelevant, because Bruth’Kothae enslaved the native population of human like creature, constructed a very impressive fortress and took control of the small planet. They ruled through fear, the penalty for breaking any law, no matter how small was death, by decapitation.

The Bruth’Kothae corroded from the lethal assassins they once where into a vile family of greedy Hutt spawn. They bled the planet of its resources to feed their ever growing demands, and as time progressed their ancient arts where forgotten, and their swords dulled. But small group kept the pure Bruth’Kothae traditions fresh in their minds. The group was made up of four people, each specializing in one of the elements. They dedicated most of their time to deciphering the ancient texts of the Bruth’Kothae, every day uncovering new abilities. The rest of their time was spent out in the grass lands, sparing with each other.

Under the cover of night, the sect stole the ship that had brought the wider Bruth’Kothae to this new planet, and took it back to their home world. They unearthed their old home and went about absorbing the knowledge in all of the tomes and scrolls, staked neatly in the old archive.

They grew more powerful with every word, soon the elements where flowing through them, and surrender themselves to the sect’s beck. Eventually they uncovered means as to infuse the powers of their chosen element into the lifeless blade of their swords.

The first was surrounded in flames, the second turned to ice, the third was encircled by razor winds and the fourth began heavily vibrating. Armed with their enhanced weapons, they intensified their training, coming very close to killing each other during sparring.

After exploring the enclave some more they uncovered the robes worn by the original protector, but felt unworthy, still, of donning them. But, the four knew what they must do. They headed back to the grassland planet, home of the fools who tainted the Bruth’Kothae name.

They approached the elder’s sanctuary, inside the fortress. The four elementalists fought off swarms of unfit Zabrak. After years of these people not even touching a sword, they where an easy picking, the bloodbath was over quickly and the sect entered the sanctuary.

It is said that upon entering the elders gave a long winded speech, about ‘true traditions’ and the new path, but no record was ever made as to what was actually said. Regardless, the sect sprang on the elders; the battle was heated and lasted over an hour. It was evident that upon the sect’s departure, the elders had been preparing for their return.

But it was in vain, the sect followed the true teachings of the Bruth’Kothae and with the elements fighting alongside them, they eventually struck their opponents down. They had officially reclaimed the Bruth’Kothae name, and wiped the taint from it.

They freed the native peoples, destroyed the fortress and returned to their enclave on Iridonia. The Bruth’Kothae now felt worthy of donning the sacred robes of their ancestors, the robes themselves imbued with the powers of the elements.

They where never heard form again, the lived in solitude in their enclave, reading all of the remaining texts and writing many of their own. In their final years they wrote one last text, speaking of the evils of not following the Bruth’Kothae codes and traditions, the powers of their training and of the elements and also of the location of their enclave. It was bound with expensive materials, and lined with pure gold.

They sealed their home and set out on a journey of many months to a planet they had learnt of in the texts of their forefathers, a planet known to be very strong with the element of water, a planet later named Yridia II. They sought a cave entrance on one of the few land masses. In the ancient texts, this cave was said to lead far down into the ground, and below the sea itself. It took many days, but eventually they found it and ventured in, their gold lined book in hand.

The air elementalists lowered the Bruth’Kothae down to the bottom in a matter of minutes. Here they constructed and alter, laying the book upon it, then knelt; awaiting death to envelop them. And so the tome rested upon the alter, surrounded by its deceased authors for many thousands of years until Guardian Archean, Guardian Levathan and I discovered it while on a mission under Battlelord Welshman to reclaim the Phoenix Crest for Headmaster Spears.

After decimating the invading pirates and returning to the surface, as we walked towards the ships that would return us home, we felt the force pulling us. It willed us to stay; it willed us towards the location of the cave, visited by the Bruth’Kothae Millennia ago.

We grabbed some gear and headed where we where beckoned to go. Arriving at the mouth of the cave, we fastened some ropes to the ground and descended down into the murkiness. It was slow going, the walls and floors were covered in moss, if not for the ropes holding us up, we probably would have arrived at the bottom with many broken bones.

Eventually we made it, greeted by a stone alter, four skeletal corpses and a thick book, that seemed to give off a strange light. We took the book with us, and ascended back to the surface. We all stayed at Castle Taretum for the following week, sifting through the secrets held within the tomb, realising the true potential of the information held within.

We longed for more and after learning of the location of the Bruth’Kothae enclave we departed immediately. The trip was short, thanks to hyperspace travel, and uneventful. Finding the enclave did not prove to be a problem, as the directions in the tome where clear enough.

We set to work, digging stones away from the entranceway, the place’s dark side aura fuelling our muscles. In no time it was clear and we entered. The archive room we uncovered was the size of a large ship, and filled with many tomes, books and scrolls.

I took one scroll and tried to take it up to the ship, but as soon as I stepped through the entrance way it burst into flames. This did not hinder our effort however, we radioed Tarentum and made some excuse for us to stay here a few days and began painstakingly digitizing every single page of every text in the archive.

It ended up taking a full standard week, but at the end of it we had several data pads full of scanned texts, to be studied, which in itself would take several months. But we all felt it to be worth our time.

With the approval of Battlelord Welshman, we commandeered a room in the Swords Sheath. And here we stayed; until every single byte of information had been read over. With the four of us, it was relatively light work, taking just two and a half months to complete and we came out of it with a great appreciation for the code and traditions of the Bruth’Kothae.

We then requested an audience with Battlelord Welshman, a fellow Circle Leader; Guardian Tyrus and also a close friend of ours; Guardian Karel. We presented them with the basics of what we had learnt, whetting their appetite for more knowledge of it.

While Levathan, Archean and myself began preparations, and training, the others locked themselves away as wee had, combing through the texts we had scanned and brought back with us.

Once everyone was up to speed we began training together, for many hours a day in the morph halls and eventually decided to branch into the elemental manipulations depicted in the ancient texts, growing more and more powerful with every day of training.

The Black Pegasus Facility

This facility has not been approved and not yet usable in fiction.

Not long after the incident involving pirates at Phoenix Crest, the members of Bruth’Kothae met in the conference room on board the M-CRV Creeping Death, to talk about a matter of high importance that had just occurred to Windos and Levathan. After they took there places at there seats and the door was secure, Windos then started the conference,

“Good to see you again my brothers, lets get right to it shall we? As you may have known we have been experimenting with the Force, pushing the known bounders of knowledge about the Force that we currently hold. This is dangerous to say the least not to mention that we’ll be developing techniques that will give us a gigantic advantage against our opponents, hence the need for secrecy. Therefore we need a new facility where we can train, experiment, develop techniques and weapons, basically a place where the Bruth’Kothae calls “home”. The place Levathan has found for us is on an asteroid not far from Swords Sheath, but not to close to it either” The meeting continued for a little while more, all in agreement to this proposal, thus they decided to have a look for themselves at what they had to work with.

The asteroid was not unlike any other around it, just a barren lump of rock that was roughly 70 miles in size. The place that Levathan found was a natural cavern; the opening was large enough to have the two shuttles, they were using, fly into it side by side with plenty of room to spare, once onside however the cavern revealed itself to gigantic in size, with a domed ceiling that was laced with veins of quartz, and gems, refracting and reflecting the light back into the cavern to light it up with a multi colored light. Everyone was impressed by what they were seeing, but I was just a cavern at that moment, it would require a lot of work to build the facility.

The Bruth’Kothae were eager for this new Facility however, that combined with there resourcefulness and ingenuity allowed them to have a large force droids there, in only a couple of days, and in only a day more they had a large capacity cold fusion reactor that would provide more then enough power for the facility once it was completed. After the reactor was installed power cold be provided for the environmental shielding in the mouth of the cavern allowing for a standard breathable atmosphere to be created behind it.

The design of the facility was discussed and created as the droids were preparing the cavern for construction, after much discussion with proposed ideas a final design was finally reached. The final design consisted of a large structure circular in shape that would look like a tower when seen from within the cavern, there would be one floor that would be dug into the ground to provide a basement of sorts, this area will house the Holding cell for regular prisoners and more powerful Force cages/restraints to contain Force users, in addition to this, there are also 7 rooms on the same level that will be used for interrogation and torture of uncooperative captives, these rooms would have in them various implements of the torturers profession.

Next is the main level, this would house facilities such as the 8 Force Laboratories that will be used to experiment with the force, finding new and innovative methods of controlling the force, each of the laboratories will very likely be customized to suit the user. The 3 Morph halls, used for combat training in various simulated environments, which would allow the Bruth’Kothae to train at anytime and keep up the long tradition of heavy intensive training with various weapons. The Hanger Bay that Is connected to the mouth of the cavern, which is big enough to house a large number of ships is used to house the fighters, transports and small ships of the family, the Hanger Bay is also equipped to handle major repairs and also has an area set aside construct small transports and fighters. The weapons development hall, which is located adjacent to the Force Labs, is just as the name implies an area used by everyone to develop special Force related/enhanced weapons. Due to the dangerous nature of the experiments, a fully equipped infirmary, which is situated in the centre on the first floor, is capable of healing any type or degree of injury; it is staffed with the latest in medical droids. The conference hall is not unlike the Jedi council chamber at the light Jedi Temple, it has a ring of seats, customized to the liking of the user, the pillar that would be present in the Jedi council chamber was not present here, and instead the black, polished floor was streaked with silver. Finally a large Armory for the current weapons, the Force enhanced weapons and the personal armor.

The second level is the more comfortable of levels, because it is the living quarters of the family members, it includes, large, comfortable quarters for each of the members with a few extra rooms as the family may expand. The main dining hall consists of one large table surrounded by comfortable chairs at regular intervals, the walls are decorated with black and purple drapes depicting the family crest and the glowing symbols for the elements, the room is also lit with a soft, comfortable light. The Archive room contains the large archive computer, with several terminals to allow access to the information stored there, it also doubles as a library and common room, consisting of several cases of books and comfortable chairs with a drinks dispenser.

On the third level there are only two things, the large, domed meditation sanctum that glows, on the inside and outside, with a purple light that emanates from the tall spikes that surround the walls, inside the sanctum there are steps to a wide circular platform, the platform is surrounded by a ring of glowing water that streams out of four fountains spaced evenly around the room. Directly opposite to the sanctum and though a pair of doors, is a large balcony used for outdoors training in close combat weapons, hand-to-hand combat and agility training, or it could simply be used to enjoy the view of the refracted lights due to the veins of gemstones in the ceiling of the cavern, the balcony is surrounded with four, flat toped pillars that emit pillars of light from there tops, to the ceiling in the colors of the elements.

The design also called for the areas that contain assigned room will be able to be expanded as there is a high chance of new members in the future.

With the large number of droids that were brought in to work the facility was completed in mere months, after the supplies were brought in and things were set up, all of the facility powered up for the first time. Thus the Bruth’Kothae Black Pegasus Facility was now open.
