Hitoshi Feng is the powerful and charismatic ruler of the Shogunate of Tao Feng, the ruling power on the planet Eldar. The son of the unpopular Shogun Theros Feng, Hitoshi came into power with low expectations from the people. He would prove a strong leader, gaining the aid of the powerful and secretive SCEPTER organization and meeting with the Quaestor of Galeres, Sanguinius Tsucyra Entar. Hitoshi is utterly loyal to the Shogunate, but tends to ally himself with the desires of SCEPTER, normally against the wishes of his advisors.
Biography
Birth and Early Years
The seventh year of Theros Feng’s rule was accentuated by the birth of Theros’ first son, whom he named Hitoshi. The Shogunate celebrated the birth of the heir to the Scarlet Throne amidst turmoil from threatened rebellions by the unhappy people, who were utterly dissatisfied by Theros’ rule.
Two years after the baby's birth, Theros was deposed by the Council of Elders and replaced by a regent until such a time as Hitoshi would be old enough to serve as Shogun. Theros was not allowed to continue to live within the Palace of Kyuden, although Hitoshi was kept. It was through this separation that Hitoshi was kept oblivious to his father’s identity whilst he was raised to take his place on the Scarlet Throne.
Most of Hitoshi’s youth was spent inside the Scarlet Quarter and specifically within the Palace itself. He was trained by the finest educators from within the Shogunate, giving him a vast repertoire of skills and abilities in such fields as foreign interaction, economics, social structures, religion, military training, and other necessary fields. When Hitoshi was not studying, he could be found training with members of the Hiiro Legion, honing himself to become a strong and agile warrior.
Shogun
At the age of 18, Hitoshi assumed the title of Shogun and was placed upon the Scarlet Throne. His rise proved unpopular with the general populace, who believed he would be no different than his tyrannical father. Hitoshi took the criticisms in stride, seeming to be unaffected by all the threats and sharp comments he received on an almost daily basis for the first two years of his reign.
Hitoshi primarily focused on the Shogunate’s economy, which had fallen to severe levels under his father’s reign. Hitoshi implemented several new policies, including opening new trade with other systems, in order to balance the system. While he made great strides, he never fully achieved his goal until he came in contact with the group called SCEPTER.
Hitoshi’s reign is highlighted by the trip he received on the seventh year of his reign by Obelisk Prelate and Quaestor of House Galeres, Sanguinius Tsucyra Entar along with his escorts from the Battleteam Spectre Cell, Leader Celevon Edraven and Kratus Vahillus. The Entar thoroughly impressed the Shogun by showing him simple feats accomplished with the aid of a mystical power called the ‘Force’. Hitoshi believed Sanguinius to be a descendant of the Scarlet Empress Keadena, who had been rumored to have enough Force power to rival that of a Dark Jedi Master. As such, Hitoshi invited Sanguinius back several more times to exhibit his power towards many of the Shogun’s guests, who were all subsequently delighted and amazed by the Dark Jedi’s talents.
The Shogun then made a move that would change the way the Shogunate operated, and would utterly save its economy. Hitoshi allied himself with the group Sanguinius affiliated himself to, the SCEPTER organization. Feng also commissioned the impressive Shiro Castle to be built in honor of Sanguinius’ respect for the Throne and his remarkable abilities. When Hitoshi learned that many within SCEPTER had the same ability, he turned over power of the entire Sapphire Quarter of Shihon to the organization, in return for aid and protection. This action saved the Shogunate and lifted Hitoshi’s favor in the eyes of his people.
Psychological Profile
Hitoshi is a very calculating individual whose thoughtful expression and quickness of speech tend to give him the appearance of one who has much wisdom and has been gifted with a high education. He tends to be slow-moving, yet deliberate, constantly wishing to completely finish one task or pursuit before beginning another. While this is admirable, it sometimes causes people to think that he is dull-witted.
When the Shogun walks, he carries himself in such a way that he looks larger than he actually is. This appearance is encouraged in a Shogun, as a means of intimidation. By making himself appear large, Hitoshi is the embodiment of his power, demonstrating the utter omnipotence of the Shogunate.
