[[Image:Grampa Markov.jpg|190px|thumb|left|Lord Hegemon Grigori Markov. Moments after his birth, his mother, a wealthy and influential woman and the only daughter of the Lord Hegemon, died, effectively orphaning the newborn. The attending midwife took responsibility for the child and subsequently fled southwest from his birthplace, a small fishing village on the shores of the Akbarin Sea, to the city of Leboa-Meta not far from the northern edge of the Tarkian Jungle. Unfortunately, his maternal grqandfather was not as blind as she had hoped, and when this information was brought to him, he began taking steps in the retrieval of his only heir, not willing for his line to die with him. Days later, armed soldiers would burst into the home of a tired old woman, and would proceed to forcefully extract a crying child from her withered hand. However, this woman's ultimate faith is, at this moment, unknown.

[[Image:Grampa_Markov.jpg|200px|thumb|left|Lord Hegemon Grigori Markov. Portrait painted in 1 ABY.]]Joseph Skirata was born on an unknown planet nestled deep within the [http://starwars.wikia.com/wiki/Outer_Rim_Territories Outer Rim] in 7 ABY. Moments after his birth, his mother, a wealthy aristocrat, died, effectively orphaning the newborn. Parentless, Joseph was adopted by his grandfather, the Lord Hegemon of the Grand Army of the State.
He recorded little of his lifetime prior to early adulthood, but what information has been gleaned from sources available, indicates that his grandfather had a very limited influence on the boy. Even though as a public figure he required some form of a successor, he did little to raise this child, a child who had been basically dropped on his doorstep, and one he, as a result of miralukan tradition, had been forced to accept as his own. Joseph spent most of his childhood years hidden away from the public eye, never seen nor heard. While his grandfather led their forces against their enemies, the young miraluka spent his time reading and writing, devising theories and ideologies based of older beliefs, and all in all living his youth as a merely a pawn to be used in the political game of the future.

He recorded little of his lifetime prior to his adolescence but what information has been gleaned from his autobiography, '''''In the Company of Shadows''''', indicates that his grandfather had a very limited influence on the boy. Instead, he was raised by a female Kiffar whose name he has never disclosed. She loved and cared for the child, but she also understood the ways of this particular Miralukan society, so, before the boy could walk, she began to teach him, not just to fight, but to win, no matter what the cost.
When he was fifthteen years old, the Lord Hegemon enrolled his grandson in a rigorous educational system, as all Miralukan nobles are. The aim of the system was to produce physically and mentally strong males to serve as the Nation's elite. It was meant to clean out the rich and wealthy, turning them from spoiled little children into an iron generation far superior to the last. Discipline was strict and the males were encouraged to fight amongst themselves to determine the strongest member of the group.

When he was seven, he was taken from his caretaker and was enrolled in a rigorous educational system, as all Miraluka are. The aim of the system was to produce physically and mentally strong males to serve in the army. It encouraged conformity and the importance of the state over one's personal interest, but also generated the future elites of planet. Discipline was strict and the males were encouraged to fight amongst themselves to determine the strongest member of the group.
However, the entire system was largely single-minded and the courses there were very limited, as it was meant to be followed by proper academic studies. His grandfather however, seeing as Joseph would be the next Lord Hegemon, a position not to be taken lightly, unless otherwise incapable of being or another was chosen by the Senate, opted to enroll him in a wide variety of courses at the Imperial College in the capital, courses that including Medicine and Political Science. Even though he was allowed far more liberty than the rest, life there was not something he enjoyed.

Quite unlike his peers, Joseph quickly proved to be the most preeminent among them. By order of the Holy Synod, he and several other children were taken northwards, to be raised in the harsh and mountain range that lay there. None were expected to survive what was to come.

For five years he trained there, until, of all those that came with him, he was the last one left. Believing that his training was complete, in 19 ABY, the monks finally let him return to modern society. To die, no less. Though normally it is considered too young for military service, because of the strong cultural emphasis on achieving superiority by any means necessary, Joseph was officially conscripted in the Grand Army of the state.
Quite unlike his peers, Joseph quickly proved to be the most preeminent among them, a prodigy in his own way, and in 17 ABY, he returned home a new man. He, at the urgings of his grandfather, subsequently enlisted in the Feroxin military. Unfortunately, the Second Chancellery War occurred when a shadowy Vademii Chancellor suddenly launched a surprise military incursion into the eastern border. Named after what is believed to be the [[starwars:Basic|Basic]] equivalent of the title of the Vademii Head of State, the conflict began with a bang. Joseph, having recently completed his Rite of Transition, was at that time stationed at Camp Gagarin, a reconnaissance base in the foothills near the desert, serving as the resident Doctor, when the bombardment of Konestants caused all out chaos. They managed to blanket the area with a massive radio jamming signal, effectively cutting the city of from the outside, forcing Joseph to experience his first taste of modern combat. Unable to face the might of the Vademii warmachine in open combat, they instead chose to resort to guerrilla tactics and "dirty" methods, utilize their superior mobility and urban warfare skills to ambush and eliminate enemy troops within the cities limits.

However, though they were valiant, their attempts were futile, and after hard consideration the Commandant ordered all soldiers to retreat north to the Alaamyt Stronghold, an important military installation hidden in the mountains. Along the way they were ambushed by a large scouting party which, after much fighting, whittled down the Gagarin Unit's force down to one man: Joseph. Badly wounded in combat, he had managed to crawl away and stablize his condition, before being tracked down and taken as a prisoner of war. Instead of being brought to the main enemy force, he was dragged further south to their outpost in the Tarkian Jungle.

For thousands of years, the church stood along side the sovereignty, equally divided power amongst each other in an attempt to establish a state of political equilibrium. Yet, there are always those that seek more than they are allowed. Those individuals who cross the boundaries of the legislature so that they may assert themselves as the masters of the the greater macrocosm. Grand Inquisitor Silecio was one of them.

==== Origin of Silecio ====
Because of a lack of transportation, the entire group was forced to walk making the journey far more dangerous then it should have been. Eventually though, the band would reach their destination and he would be placed in the largely empty Concentration Camp found there. Though he managed to survive there for several days without problems, he would become subject to a vector-borne infectious disease caused by protozoan parasites. This was a result of his rudimentary clean-up over a week earlier, which was not good enough to defend himself against such viruses. At first it did not affect him in any manner, but it would, in time, attract the attention of his "Warden".
Born over five decades prior, Silecio's mother was slain during the infamous, if short-lived, Creo Insurrection. He was less than two years of age when he was placed in the care of band of monks in the mountains of Qadir. His predominately religious enviroment molded him into a vindictive and overzealous individual whose sole purpose in life, as he put it, was to worship the deity of his people. When he was sixteen years old, he travelled to the capital city and enrolled into the University of Ecclesiastical Sciences to more thoroughly study theological and philosophical subjects. He would be inducted into the Holy Order of St. Marcion the Martyr two years later.

His genius was quickly discovered as within a decade he was the youngest member in known history to be allowed a seat at the table of the Holy Synod. He ambition and greed for power within the church would not end there. In 2 ABY, the self proclaimed Grand Inquisitor of Qadir staged a coup de'tat against the Holy Synod, and alongside his supporters siezed control of the entirety of the church. By popular vote, they established him as the sovereign head of the Second Holy Synod and he, in turn, ushered in a new age of theocratic authotarianism.
Kal'po Tarxa, the commander at the Tarkian Outpost, noticed the strange behavior of his newest prisoner and decided that he was too much of a threat to the site to be kept there. The miraluka was then taken further into the jungle to a prison facility devoted to the study of the native flora, fauna, and anything else that they could get their deformed hands on.

Lord Hegemon Grigori Markov. Portrait painted in 1 ABY.
