When linking to different pages, either off site or on site, should I place a link for each instance of the linked word(s), place links for only the first mention of the linked word(s) in the entire article, or place links for the first mention of the linked word(s) in each section of the article? I don't want to have to spend time where it isn't required or have a flooded article. --[[User:Esca|Esca]] 08:35, 6 April 2013 (MDT)

Conventional advice is somewhere between once-per-article and once-per-section. For common things that most DB readers should know about (eg. Odan-Urr), maybe only once in the article and in the infobox. Something a little more obscure? Once per section will help people who skip around and only read parts. <small>(Also, try to avoid the <nowiki>=first level headings=</nowiki>, they're too bright and yellow and scary)</small> --[[User:BenevolentWhiner|Benevolent Whiner]] <small>([[User talk:BenevolentWhiner|talk]] - [[dossier:2706|dossier]])</small> 10:56, 6 April 2013 (MDT)

Linking

When linking to different pages, either off site or on site, should I place a link for each instance of the linked word(s), place links for only the first mention of the linked word(s) in the entire article, or place links for the first mention of the linked word(s) in each section of the article? I don't want to have to spend time where it isn't required or have a flooded article. --Esca 08:41, 6 April 2013 (MDT)

Conventional advice is somewhere between once-per-article and once-per-section. For common things that most DB readers should know about (eg. Odan-Urr), maybe only once in the article and in the infobox. Something a little more obscure? Once per section will help people who skip around and only read parts. (Also, try to avoid the =first level headings=, they're too bright and yellow and scary) --Benevolent Whiner (talk - dossier) 10:56, 6 April 2013 (MDT)
