The Heart of Ombus is a pale-orange colored, crystalline form Accessory originating from the planet Ombus. It was one of a few such shards recovered from the Dentavii Prime asteroid during the events of Awakenings in 33 ABY. While it was once one of many such Shards of Ombus, It is the only surviving specimen of that period.
Origin
Awakenings
- Main article: Awakenings
Ceremonial and War
The Heart of Ombus has not yet been used in either ceremony, or in war. Once it sees use in times following the Awakenings event, such applications will be chronicled here.
Description
Notable Features
The Heart of Ombus is nearly indestructible. Blaster bolts, energy attacks, and even lightsabers are found to be deflected or otherwise turned aside when brought into contact with the shard. When touched, the Heart seems to radiate heat. This has puzzled those who have studied it, as Ombus itself reflects light and appears to radiate energy but has been noted to have energy bolts pass through it seemingly without effect.
Those who hold the Heart will find their own connection to the Force strengthened, but at a cost. Any who open themselves to the Heart's influences put themselves at risk of the Heart's bewitching element. The less powerful a Force-user is, the greater chance the artifact will turn back against its user. Losses have ranged from loss of life force and limbs, loss of one's connection to the Force, and even the weakening of an individual's grip on their sanity.
Conjectured Features
It has been conjectured that the Heart of Ombus could be used as a focal point in the Force. If it were carried and used by a Force User of sufficient power, it has been conjectured that rare feats such as a Force Dyad could be achieved. It has been further conjectured that abilities such as Force bonds or unprecedented applications of Battle Meditation might be made with minimal effort. These remain merely conjectured abilities, as the rarity of the Heart of Ombus makes it a prize without measure for Clan Naga Sadow, and the testing of such theories is considered too great a risk.
Restricted Use
The Heart of Ombus is typically stored in Clan Naga Sadow's artifact vault, but may be used at the discretion of the Consul in times of absolute need. This precedent was set by Bentre Sadow in 39 ABY. The Heart of Ombus has yet to see use in combat, but it may just be a matter of time before Stahoes or another Overlord of the Clan decides that a threat to the Clan or Brotherhood is great enough to risk its use.
